The easy way for them to update points cost without it invalidating the fact that people have paid for points costs by buying a codex is simply to put a unique code in the back of every codex which you have to use when you log on to the website. Therefore they can update it continuously rather than once a year in an FAQ, and those who have paid for a codex won't feel cheated that everyone else got the points for free a year later.
This method has been used successfully on most 'install' CDs since the late 90's.

Edit: or even better allow the code to download the digital version on upto 3 different devices (like most paid VPNs do for example), this can then be a automatically updating digital dex (think app) and the max 3 device thing will mean that people can't just search for a code online.

This is what they SHOULD do. But do you honestly think it's what they WILL do?

So the Primaris "jump" marines are more like T'au Crisis Suits then? I can dig that
Hopefully Primaris Marines are going to be limited to Infantry and the 'jump' guys. Leave Assault, Bikes and Terminator armour to the regular Marines.

yeah Tau crisis suits is proably the closest comparison. and IMHO I have no issue with a Primaris assault unit so long as they can diffrentiate it. make em use power swords and thunder sheilds across the whole unit or something. assault squads would still have their place as the mobile one you toss at cheap infantry fast to tear em up, but the Primaris sword and board squad could be used to intercept chargers, and be partiuclarly effective vs chaos space marines. (my over all feel is that Primaris Marines are beiing kitted out to be most effecvtive vs chaos)

A fairly good suggestion over in the rumour thread was that they may be grav-plates ala land speeders and the like.

Given the setup, that seems plausible to me (I had just assumed they were skids for landing at high speeds).

My first thought was they were some sort of shock absorber, but grav plates could also be cool.

Can grav-plates be reversed so they "pull" instead of "push"? If so, that could make for some interesting shenanigans in the fluff as these guys are able to fly around and then grab hold to things with their feet.

Unfortunately the follow the same naming generator as Stormcast, where everything has 'ors' at the end, and all the names are hard to pick apart to the casual observer.

I'm still hoping 8th could bring about plastic Eldar Aspects, rather than more marines, frankly. Instead of a replacement for existing marines (though they are growing on me) they could have made 8th be "the death of Finecast".

Looking at the NuMarines more and the new, (possible flyer) assault marines.....I will be pre-ordering my first Games Workshop box set ever.....(and that's since Rogue Trader in 1985).

My FLGS is putting on a discount that's actually dang good for pre-orders of 8th edition products .It will be the cheapest I can get them anywhere. Even my best online discounts can't imagine this. The launch day event is going to be huge here. My FLGS owner is saying that he is probably going to set up a barbecue as well as both gaming and painting tables. We might have to go to a place outside the store itself since it will be so huge.

So hype. I'm getting in as much gaming as I can and then crashing. Also the event will be for 8th edition itself as well. Also add in a huge prize raffle and you got a win going on.

I wen from saying pass on starter and getting box sets to... two box sets in a day, and swapping the nurgle out of both, so 4x numarines content.... yay nu marines!

in the assault guy's shields I se ethem as maybe projectors for shields? like an iron halo does not actually cover the body but emanates an energy field, couldn't those do the same? I am also betting they are not assault marines but in fact flying or jet pack

Well an Iron Halo plugs directly into the power pack on the back of the space marines power armor. My question would be, where is the power supply in the smgs?

i mean it is power armor, the power pack is powering more than a halo so maybe conduit in the armor idk, it is just a thought, will be curious when they release full rules, i kind of dig the bolter shield guns though i understand that seems to be an unpopular opinion here of late

I have no opinion on them myself. I just don't care. I was just pointing out fluff wise why the SMGs are unlikely to be miniature Iron Halos.

I too like the look of the assault primaris. It's just a different profile than what you see in a lot of marine armies.

yeah, whereas vanilla marines rush in with chain sword via jump packs, these guys, look like they'll be jetting about and spraying down opponents with SMG fire, If what I predict about em comes true, they're likely to be, rules wise, the stand outs of the new Primaris Marines. I mean the other squads are basicly just bigger better Marines, these guys? they're something new.
