Today as I was preparing to start my P & M Blog [nothing special, just getting my thoughts out there as I continues my nids] I found my first ever GW model and my first ever 40K model, I was surprised I still had it. I was 8 years old when i painted it and I did it at the GW in Ringwood, they still know me there when I travel down there, here's the model [sorry I forgot to rotate it]:


What about dakka? What was your first model, do you have a pic of it?

If I can find it i'll throw up a pic... but mine was that old catachan sargeant... the one smoking a cigar, firing his boltgun with his fist raised in the air. Definatly my favorite GW mini.

My first model was a fantasy chaos lord with 2 axes. I mainly painted him purple because of my slaaneshi preference. When I sprayed matte varnish on him I guess I used too much. He looked like he had snow on his shoulders after that.

My was a blob on paint from what i think(?) is a space marine, i cringe when i see this model - but laugh at the same time

My first model I did was a Moria Goblin. I can't remember which one as I have 109 but it was one of them. This makes me beg the question why is there no LOTR part of this website as there is for 40K and WHFB?
My first 40K model was probably a standard Cadian squad Sergeant when I first started the mass buying, spraying and painting of my IG.

Well my first EVER model was a 1/72nd scale German Marder3 tank hunter when i was 7.
My first wargaming model was a Leman Russ from a cadian starter box 6 years ago.

That Chaos Lord with a combi-melta holding up a marine head in his powerfist. Awesome model, but I layered on paint so thick that you literally can't make out his face and his powerfist kept falling off.

My first mini, back in 1987, was a Ral Partha Orc on a Wyvern. I had no idea of undercoating, inking or drybrushing. Green on the skin, ivory on the claws and teeth, chrome on the metal and some brown on the rider's clothing and saddle. All testors enamels.

So, my first models were my own invented space marine chapter. I don't have any close ups. But I have an action pic.

My first 40k model was an old school Terminator with storm bolter and powerfist.

However my first model overall (and first painted) was the old metal Chaos Warrior from WHFB with the 2h axe held above his head, used him as the Champion for my unit of Warriors for years until I passed the army on to a kid looking to get into the hobby.

No pics I'm afraid - the Warrior was painted in black with red detail, was pleased at the time but in hindsight he was terrible! Not that my skills have improved any since!!!

My first models were a Gargoyle, a Warlock, a Barbarian, a Wizard, an Elf, a Dwarf, some skeletons, zombies, orks, fimirs, mumys, goblins, chaos warriors, and maybe a few others

came with a game system i got back when i was 6. guess what it was? (produced by GW)

my first Warhammer 40k model was Bjorn the Fell Handed, a few years later.

my first Warhammer fantasy model was the old Vampire Count with the ridiculously cheesy cloak, yet a few more years later.

yep, Heroquest, also had the expansion sets that came with frost goblins, extra undead and whatnot.

My first models were the 5 Space Marines that came in the GW starter paint set in like 2001, when I was 12 years old. I don't have pictures of them, nor do I still own them :(

My first models were the AoBR set.

My first painted model was the wizard from Heroquest. If I remember correctly, I gave him yellow tights.

A plastic 2nd edition Grot w/ Grotblaster given to me by a friend. Still got the little bugger. Many years later he gave me the whole ork-grot lot.

Well, the first I took pride in painting. I had a bunch of crapily painted RT Beakies before this. I really loved these guys.

A plastic Cadian heavy weapons team. I built it as an Autocannon, and I still use it, today. I'm pretty sure I've repainted that team a good four or five times.

my first models were a Necron Lord and Immortal that my friend (who was into 40K at the time) gave me for my birthday. I was 13 or 14 at the time, and not very interested, but i painted them boltgun metal and gold and I thought they were awesome. I unfortunately lost them, and 7 or 8 years later i got my first Tau battleforce, and the first model i built/painted in it was the devilfish.

To be technical, Milton Bradley actually produced the game and system. Citadel only produced the models.

I started off with the 3rd Edition starter set. I still have the Marines which I painted with really old (Like 20 or so years) Testors enamels. They were meant to be loyalists, but the combination of my olive green paint scheme and crappy skills made them look like plague marines. The Dark Eldar are still laying around somewhere, unpainted...

My first model was a 3rd edition starter set of 5 marines. No undercoat, and the eyes were a blob, but it was fun.
