I believe my first model was an ooze of some sort from Ral Partha around about 1982. Either than or it was an orc of some sort and the ooze was spilt lead from casting some Napoleonics.

My first GW model was one of the RBT01 beakies. I got them about the same time I got some of the first BattleDroids (later BattleTech) miniatures - the multipart plastic ones.

To be technical, Milton Bradley actually produced the game and system. Citadel only produced the models.

True.

its still cool to see the ancient mini's that inspired some of the newer models.

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

I dread to think...

My 1st was (undoubtedly) an Ultrasmurf from Battle for Macragge. Did a pretty good job, i think.

My first model was probably some ancients figure - I painted some really terrible 15mm ancients when I was 7 or so.

My first GW figures were the Space Hulk Terminators. I used Iron Wind Metals paints to paint them as really ugly Ultramarines. They were dark blue plastic already, so I figured I didn't have to basecoat them!

First GW figure I painted with any competence was the 3rd ed. metal Space Marine captain, and a marine biker. Both were painted as Ultras, and the captain has never been repainted. These were also painted with Iron Wind Metals paints.

Hmm while the A-10 was my first model, my first GW model was a Lizardman Skink from the rule set box that had Lizardmen and Bertonians. I started out playing Fantasy before I saw the light and switched to 40K. Never looked back.

well, I originally started with the 5th edition warhammer fantasy set. So, Lizardmen and Bretonnians.

First 40k model would be a plastic space marine I got in the paint set along with a plastic chaos warrior. I still have the space marine, though he's been repainted so many times and it appears, for some reason I haven't quite figured out, he's also got modelling clippers slashes all over him. I think I was trying to peel off the paint or something?

Second 40k model? The free metal necron from white dwarf 216. He was actually painted quite well, until I believe my dog stepped on him and his ankles broke off.

my first figures, i would guess, would be the guys that came with an old dnd boardgame i got when i was rather young called dragonstrike.

first model i purchases solely to paint would be, hmmm, probably a dwarf of some sort from reaper, back when i was just starting warmachine and wanted practice before i got to work on my army.

first gw model.......probably my friends necrons, i painted is 2000 point army for something silly like 30 bucks to get back into practice after a long paint break, and for the occasional ride to wherever i needed to go

I wish I had my first model, but alas its still stuck in my foot. It was an old school goblin spearman. My father bought me one of the original boxes of warhammer fantasy battle after a trip to Englend. I played with the elves and gobbos and received many injuries. Goblin spearmen are the deadliest models in all of warhammer!!!!!

My fist model I painted ever was the sergeant from the Battle for Macragge kit. (Cringe I hated the mold lines and bad joints they looked so unreal.)
Didn't remove the mold lines as only a noob wouldn't.

My first actually painted well model was one of the new bloodletters. It was the first time I had A. Watered down my paints and B. Actually used layers.

My first model was the SM troopers that came in the 3rd edition set, Never painted the DE though, mostly use their pointy bits for ork conversions now

however the paintjob was atrocious, I still cringe looking at them, but I can't bring myself to toss them, and the models are far to ugly (and small) to bother stripping and repainting... They are a nostalgia piece at the very BACK of my display shelf now lol
