Subject: How do you think your life would be different if you never started wargaming?
I would not have my beatiful son Leman, a little back story. I started wargaming ten years ago; I went to the Los Angelos Grand Tournament 6 years ago.
Well there I met the love of my life Jervis Johnson. Yes, I was not gay before meeting Jervis and he was the only man I have been ever attracted to.
We met at a after dinners social and while discussing the merits of space wolves over a pint our lives and eyes locked together.
It was after several months of email correspondence late night phone calls discussing the merit of true grit. That we decided we should be together. I obtained a travel Visa, and traveled to England.
Once there we started lving together and spending long nights entwined in each others arms beneath a painting of LEman Russ, eventually we decided to make our decision permanent. We traveled to Sweden where we had a small private ceremony , our groom and groom cake was two Space Wolves embracing fiercely.
Its been a whirl wind romance, 2 years ago we decided to adopt a small chinese boy, with Jervis's connections with the Chinese Goverment we were able to obtain adoption papers.
We named him Leman after our Favorite Patriarch.
If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

Dude just put on your super cool nerd glasses. Forget the nonsense.
... ... OOOOOoohhhh RIIIGHHTTT!!!!
Hmmm... wargaming, I suppose to much of anything is bad, but I don't think most WH40k players do anything besides spend too much money on the minis themselves. Consider yourself a collector of alien artifacts, a pursuer of higher and greater aspirations, thoughts of the future with .
Yeah, maybe not.
I would not have gotten back into sculpting if not for WH40k, and at some point I plan to challenge its design team to a show-down. Me, my clay shapers, and a hand grenade... wait... OOPS "gak". I get very inspired by most of the GW stuff, although I am not a huge fan of the majority of their minis. GW in itself could be held responsible for bringing me back into my previous past-time, just making stuff. It is actually pretty funny when I think of it, because GW (not the design team... usually) that make me feel challenged to improve on their work, which is actually a bad thing because I pay to play, or so it would seem (I actually have to own GW minis to play most games).
GW makes me think about what is wrong, at how to improve upon their mistakes. The fact is the only thing that GW does that can be rationally judged would be their minis. Improving a broken game would be a waste of my time, but GW did bring the inspiration to me in the first place.
Thanks GW?

If I never took up wargaming... first off, I'd have more money
But seriously. I wouldn't have the good friends I have. Nor would I have something productive to work on when I enter a bad mood. I'd also hate college if I didn't play warhammer. It's seriously the only enjoyable thing I do when I'm at school. Weird, right?
My lady wouldn't have something to about when she feels like complaining.
And lastly, I'm sure I'd have a far worse vice.

Probably would play something else a lot more. Probably magic cards. Might not be doing so well in life if I was still playing competitively. I'd be winning money but probably wouldn't be with my current girlfriend, who is wonderful. I also can't be certain I'd be where I'm at in school either.
Painting really evens me out when I'm stressed.
Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

I have no idea what I would have done for most of highschool, or how I'd relax now. Pretty sure my blood pressure would be a lot higher, since painting is really theraputic for me. Would probably have more flash animations done though. Worse, I'd probably play more videogames and get even less done.
All in all, I don't want to think about a world where I'm not painting miniatures and rolling dice to make them kill each other.

I would have lots and lots of more money to buy a motorbike. But consindering the fact that it pollutes air I said meh, maybe when I'm adult...the real reason was that gas costed so much I wouldn't have money for minis.
I also wouldn't have so many good friends from our local gaming club. From there I also have interested in roleplaying, live-roleplaying, playing real boardgames, magic the gathering etc.
And because of those too, I have lost even more money.
But its all worth it.

I'd have never met a large portion of my friends, including 5 of my 7 or 8 closest friends.
I wouldn't have this wonderful stress reliever (modeling).
I'd have never gotten to play a 2nd edition AD&D Halfling thief/priest named Parndo Littleshorts.
That would have been the greatest tragedy of all.

All you guys saying that you'd have more money....wouldnt. You'd simply spend it on something else useless most likely.
What, you make whatever a year and all of a sudden if you dont play 40k you've got a healthy savings account? Sorry, finances dont work that way. You'd just have more video games, or an expensive paintball gun, or a harley....and still be broke.

Me, without wargaming I'd be one of those SCARY Star Trek nerds. The kind that wears a full-on klingon costume to comic book conventions with my dog wearing a star-fleet uniform.
me well
i might have a girlfriend and more money....alot more money but i have made alot of friends out of it and it finallyt convinced me to write a novelle. i suppose i would have all you great guys at dakkadakka.
I LOVE YOU GUYS

I lol'd.
I'd have more money. And I'd probably still be playing with Legos. Legos and modelling are similar, modelling just replaced my Lego craze. I hate painting though. I wouldn't miss that.

Also, people wouldn't consinder me as a weirdo, and I would actually have friends outside of gaming friends.
