Ordered my copy around 10:20 a.m. this morning, and picked up a copy of 'Empire' (Time of Legends Sigmar Vol 2) whilst I was at it.

It's Space Hulk. It comes complete with jaw droppingly good plastics. It's Space Hulk. It looks like it'll be closer to original Space Hulk. It's Space Hulk.

Did I mention it's Space Hulk?

The price whilst not cheap, does represent fairly decent value. Cheaper than an army, with a good model count. A game I know I will get much use out of.

Suffolk, where the Aliens roam.

Ordered it earlier today before work.

Why?

Its Space Hulk as MDG said, one of my fave games when I was first in the hobby, this along with Blood Bowl probably dragged me in more than anything else. Warhammer and 40K where still a few years off boxed status.

Figures are awesome, so awesome in fact that after a couple of mins of looking at them, my wife overturned her call to go Iron Hands over Blood Angels a few weeks back. After what had been a long period of considering which of the two chapters to base her Marnes on, think she been umming and arring for at least a couple of months. I'm happy as well as my Orks get to beat up Bloody Beakies now.

I also see it as a great way to play games with the little ones, with this, Star Wars Mini's and even the odd game of 'Junior 40K' (my own sub 8yr old friendly version of the ruleset - patent pending ) I see this as a great way to introduce them to wargaming.

I missed out the first editions due to age and fething ebay being a witch. Plus I'm a sucker for these sort of things.

Just ordered mine now, Haven't been this excited about a GW game in ages! The minis are stunning and this is even better value than Black Reach!

Incidentally did anyone else die a little inside when they saw a thread for people who don't want to buy it. I mean whats the point? Fair Enough if your not interested but why make a thread just to vent your spleen about something your not interested in?

People on the inter-webs complain that GW ignore them. Threads like that prove GW are probably right to ignore them!

Anyone have any idea if discounters like thewarstore will be able to offer Space Hulk at a reduced price?

If so then I'm getting one.

Indeed. Is it really so hard to simply say 'not my cup of tea' or 'I'd like it, but cannot afford it'.

Seemingly so, hence the multiple paragraphs those not interested feel the need to post.

Mind you, are we much better, posting about why we are buying it? After all 'because I want it' and 'because the models look really good' are what it boils down to eventually.

And Cane. Not sure. I know GW Staff are limited to a single copy each, with no discount. I guess it depends on how much the wholesale price is.

I'm glad I'm getting it online, knowing some stores most of the copies sent there will be picked by the staff first, discount or not, leaving very little for the customers.

Not sure.

But considering the price of 10 normal Terminators alone is 50 quid then this box seems a right bargain even at full price. Considering the quality of poses I think it's a better buy than Black Reach.

Yes, they can. Probably gone by now though. A box from the GW store costs me 750 swedish crowns, and the one it seems I was lucky enough to snag from Maelstrom sets me back 615 swedish crowns.

Edit: That's $82 going by today's rate.

Had space hulk when it was first released. Later, after the game was lost along the way, I spotted termies at a game store. I said, "holly sh*^, I remember those!" thousands of dollars of 40k later, I am buying it again. How the world turns. Always wanted the game again but not willing to pay the silly ebay prices for a used game. It is costly but seems like a good deal to me with all the great new models. Not to mention it is not used. So 1up for SH!!!!!

I ordered it. I've only really played the fan made computer one so am looking forward to actually owning the new version. I am a bit bummed by the card stock terrain but the models are way way way better then I expected them to be so it is ok.

Price tag seemed reasonable for a GW product IMHO. I thought it might even be more.

I ordered within 15 seconds of seeing the Broodlord and Terminator models.

1) I never played the original back in the day, but I did obtain, via ebay, the 1st edition stuff a few years back.

2) Aliens is my favorite movie.

3) There will be lots of love for the game. I already have an idea for a mission.

It is like a reboot. The plastics are lovely, the art is kinetically fun and nostalgic, and the concept is pure.

I just don't understand the complaints honestly.

"It's too expensive!" - Compared to what? For what reason?

"It doesn't have plastic tiles!" - And? Is the game any less functional without them?

"The miniatures are low quality!" - What planet are you from?

"I don't use Terminators/Genestealers! It's a worthless product!" - Do you consider normal boxes of 'Stealers and Termies useless as well? How is this box any more useful or useless than regular Termies or 'Stealers when you don't want any Termies or 'Stealers in the first place?

Basically the complaints I've seen boil down into three categories:

1. It's too expensive - this one is actually split between:
1a. I can't afford it now/ever - Fair enough. It's not a cheap box by any means, and not everyone can afford it. Perfectly valid comment.
1b. It's too much money for some Terminators/Genestealers - This comment comes from those who are looking to this box as some sort of Black Reach/Battle of Macragge style starter-set with cheap models they can get heaps of. These people are misguided and wrong in their criticisms, as this box was never designed for that, it was designed to be Space Hulk, which is exactly what it is!

2. No plastic tiles! BAWWWW! - The general complaint here is that the cardboard tiles are useless for general play (these people must own models that are physically repelled by cardstock, much like when you try to put a positive magnet up against another positive magnet). The mistake here, and why it's not a valid criticism, is that the contents of the Space Hulk box were never designed for general play. Complaining that it doesn't have general-play-friendly plastic tiles is like complaining that the box doesn't dispense Ice Cream - it was never meant to do this, so why complain about something lacking a feature it was never intended to have? Do I complain when a Motorbike can't seat a family of 7? Do I complain that I can't use the new Stegadon in my Necron army? No, because these things were never designed for that.

3. The models are bad quality - This is a matter of opinion, but even if you find them a bit busy, or hate the Blood Angel iconography (like I do), to call them 'low quality' is just crazy.

I said this in the other thread and it's worth repeating here:

If all you want are cheap models, Space Hulk was not made for you. If you wanted new plastic terrain, Space Hulk was not made for you. If you wanted Space Hulk, the board game, then this Space Hulk was made for you.

I ordered as well, mostly for the minis. I'm looking to either start a Blood Angels force or Nidzilla army after I'm done with this Mech Eldar one, so it works perfectly for me.

I just really hope that the scale is correct...

I'd stress not getting too attached to 'Nidzilla, as that list is going the way of the dodo as soon as the new 'Dex hits, which will be next year.

At my Keyboard

I ordered mine first thing this morning after seeing the figs from GW. I was afarind I would already be too late as I am in Hawaii but it took my order so I am good to go! I called Neal at the warstore to see if he was getting any and if it was on discount. The answer ...Yes hes is getting quite a few, said he thought they would probably not last the week but he was getting an unconfirmed amount and the discount is not 20% its 89.99 from him and your gonna pay $6 shipping so you save about $4 as per GW s $99 tag and free shipping, still its $4!

I think its a s good a deal as anything else GW has done, Hell they are better termi than any thing out there ( even if they are BA sapcific, it just so happens thats what I need ) so comparing them to the full $50 price tag for 5 is not unfair, so 2 boxes of them and your paid out, so the game, all the stealers, the objectives and the libby are free!

Whats the big deal with all the slack jawed window lickers freaking out? I just dont get it. If you dont play space Hulk, dont want space Hulk, dont need the figs, then why the hell are you trolling?! Ooops, damn where did this soap box come from and why on earth am I standing on it? * whistles and walks away with hands in is pockets, checkes to see if its clear and BOLTS!*

Cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of war!

You saw the figs?

Can you confirm what the Terminators are armed with exactly? What's the 11th Terminator? Two squads of 5, a Librarian and... something else?

No it ain't Nurgleboy:

This boxed game contains: a 23-page Rulebook, a 47-page Mission book and 35 finely-detailed, plastic Citadel miniatures, including: 11 Space Marine Terminators, one Space Marine Terminator Librarian, 22 Genestealers, and one Broodlord.

And there's 12 Termies in this pic, not 11:

And the original picture showed 12 as well.

I think the 12th miniature is a Blood Angel Terminator Librarian....mmmmmm, now I wish I hadn't ordered it how lame

I have a theory about the people complaining about no plastic tiles. They also complain about everything else, or they spill drinks all over their minis.

It looks like they are red and blue plastic... how would you prime them, doesn't matter, or try to get a spray paint that's close in color?

It took me at least 5 minutes to get past the photo to post...LOOK AT ALL THE STUFF!!
