Well we know that. I want to know what the Marines have. As far as I can surmise from the tiny-vision pictures:
Librarian
Sergeant
2 Thunderhammer/Storm Shields
1 Lightning Claw
1 Heavy Flamer
4 Storm Bolter/Fist (of some sort, be it Chain or Power)
Now there has to be an Assault Cannon in there somewhere, but what else? Another Stormbolter guy?
Dunno.
rdlb wrote:I have a theory about the people complaining about no plastic tiles. They also complain about everything else, or they spill drinks all over their minis.
They're complaining because they can't use the tiles with regular 40K, which is an absurd thing to complain about because this game was never designed to be used with 40K. Even the miniatures are on non-standard bases. Everything about this release was done for Space Hulk and Space Hulk alone. Anyone putting non-existance needs upon a board game is bound for disappointment - a disappointment of their own creation.
Then there are those complaining that it's too expensive for what they want or that they cannot afford it right now, and they're fine because those are legitimate complaints - it is expensive, and not everyone can afford it right now.
And then there are those who are still bitter over the whole 'Mystery Box/Never been done before' lying nonsense that GW pulled before revealing this. I consider myself one of those people, but I'm still buying it.

No my friend I did not see them in person. I am refering to is, GW has an "intro" on their site with 3 pages of stuff/info/pictures the last page has some decent pics of them as well as some ones hand on a fig that should help settle the size fears.
Odd I only count 22 totaly Nids not 22 AND a Brood lord though I am sure I am missing one but damned if I cant find it.
My ASSUMPTION on the termi is 2 squads of 5, the libby and a Capt which I belive is the one everyone is using MS paint on in the News thread.

Terminators.
2 Squads of 5, Librarian, and the Captain model.
Pretty sure I spy with my little eye an Assault Cannon as well. There is certainly an Assault Cannon Ammunition tracker on the green card thingy in the group photo.
The model with the Assault is on the board, unless my eyes are being spazzy. Could be a Thunderhammer held paralell with the ground.

I ordered it at 5:45am EST on Monday, I then ordered a copy from my local shop at 12:00 noon that I plan on splitting with my friend. SH holds a special place in my hobby heart as the game that drug me head long into this hobby (i still have my 1st and 2nd Eds).
I plan on using this version of Space Hulk to introduce Warhammer gaming to my twin son's who are turning 10. Warhammer is still a little to advance and boaring for them, Space Hulk offers speed and dice rolling, something two boys would love because I did.

I think you're 100% correct here. I truly believe that GW considers the whole 'Mystery Box' affair to be a winner now and will continue to use this into the future.
Oh joy.

C'mon now--who didn't know it was Space Hulk?
I think GW knows this box is selling because it's Space Hulk, not because it was a mystery. Everyone assumes that this company, which just dug itself out of tremendous debt during an economic decline, is run by people who have no idea whats going on
I for one think the codexes, models, and everything else, just keep getting better and better, Go GW Go!!
They will be displaying one more Terminator and one more Genestealer each day until all the miniatures are all up on the website so we'll know them all in a few days

My friend has ordered both our copies from our favourite internet retailer for GW stuff (gaming figures). £47 pounds each!
Arh I would happily pay the full price but with the discount it's like bottled emperor's tears!
I cannot wait for this set to arrive. The models are beautiful, I loved the board of my old 2nd ed set (was too young for first, though I did have the Amiga game ).
The rules should be fun regardless and, it's frakking SPACE HULK!
Silly GW for lying and not seeing the genius of other retailers preview strategies ( FFG's Pegasus expansion and Chaos in the Old World anyone?) Still we get the same product either way. Hurrah!

I was the first person to sign up for a copy at my FLGS. Like H.B.M.C. I was really put off by the "Mystery Box" thing as I was really hoping it was a big release for 40k, but oh well. I'm too much of a fanboy to turn this down. Like I said in another thread though I really wish FFG was the ones in charge for this instead of GW direct.

Havening owned the first edition many moons ago, I’m very exited about the new Space Hulk and pre-ordered mine as soon as I heard about it. I’ve been talking to my gaming friends and this is actually getting us interested in GW again. Due to the steaming pile goo that are the Tau, Necron, Eldar, CSM codexes and the complete loss of LoTD all 7 of us have actually stopped playing 40K. We haven’t even bothered with 5th edition but with the new release, we are definitely going to jump into Space Hulk.
IMO, stand alone games like Space Hulk, Blood Bowl and Mordhiem(sp?) are pearls in the garbage dump of what GW has become. They are easy to learn, quick to play, you don’t need to buy oodles of extra stuff and you don’t need to worry about your purchases being invalidated next year.
It’s going to be a wonderful to see people actually afraid of genestealers again.

I'm probably going to order it, but I wish they'd be a bit more generous with the pictures of the models. Don't get me wrong, I'm planning on getting it after hearing how great the original was for the last ten years, but some extra models don't hurt. I notice that all the genestealers are on pretty neat bases, but does anyone know how much work it's going to take to get them on standard 40k bases (i.e. will the fit on top without filing them down?) Also, I'd like to see a picture of the brood lord model. I don't know if it's actually one of the genestealer pictures I've already seen because it should look like a genestealer anyways. Oh, and I really wish the stealers were modeled with feeder tentacles, imagine how many boxes they would sell...

And this is the problem.
They're doing now what they should have been doing over the past few weeks - slowly releasing pictures of models, previews, getting us hypes and then BANG, the big reveal and order details at GD Germany. Instead we got a 'Mystery Box' of no mystery, and they're expecting us to pre-order it after seeing only a few of the models whilst giving us tiny previews every few days.

Indeed. For us 40kers, we should be seeing dribs and drabs of the Space Wolf codex/model range through official channels. The two models we have seen are a start, but perhaps a fluff page from the codex as a pdf, or a close up shot of the SW sprue that's coming, giving us glimpses of options. Maybe a few words from GW's web site or even from Standard Bearer in WD telling us a little about what these Saga thing are. Something more than utter, vacuous silence.

They do put out expansion packs. But they also create new lines constantly.
I read a developer's post on the FFG site where he mentioned how each expansion of a game shrinks the potential pool of buyers, and can scare off those who are thinking of buying after they see all of the product neede to be "complete".
I would tend to agree with this.
Starting up with Descent is $80. Each expansion, I think, is $40. There are four of them. Each with new minis, or Road to Legend with the campaign system.
Some of the costs are saved by reusing minis and art from the Runebound system. RtL's mao is the same as the Runebound map. Most of the PC models are from Runebound expansions.
What I like about Space Hulk is that it will be complete in one box. It doesn't need "support". Once it is out, that is it. I don't need to wait for X for it to be playable.

And the expansions can be in WD = £5

It will give me an excuse to finish my Blood Angels, for one! My wife and kids already like to play 40k, so this should be an easier, but still 40k-ish way to involve them in the hobbie. Besides all of that, I had all of the SH stuff from back in the day (Space Hulk, Death Wing and Genestealer) and since my friends and I spent countless hours playing, I'm hoping to do the same now.

I wish they would do that, but I don't believe they will. Perhaps if they licensed it to FF while maintaining control of rights to produce figs they could release mission books, floor tiles, etc...

I plan to use the rules and minis with my Doom map pieces as well as the originals to create new scenarios.
