Those are some great pumpkin bros too, way to slam them out for the season.

Thanks! I'm pleased with how the ogres turned out, but I'm just as pleased to be finished with them. They're all wearing essentially the same gear, so it was like painting the same model twelve times in a row!

That's what I'm thinking. I'll see if I can't make something that looks like pumpkin vines, with some little gourds mixed in-- kind of lean into the whole Great Pumpkin Patch vibe.

I'm glad you like them, speaking of which...
The Candlejacks are finished:

The lighting effects inside their heads only work when viewed from certain angles, but that's to be expected, I guess. I thought their bases were a little plain, so I sculpted some pumpkins and vines. The vines ended up looking like tentacles, though, so I acquired some foliage to make them look more like, er, vines.

Next up, I have two more Frostgrave constructs-- a Blade Dog and a construct hound. They should be finished pretty quickly.

Thanks, all. The Candlejacks were a fun project.

Next up, some more Frostgrave constructs:

The blade dog is made of animated knives, the construct hound looks like an origami fox. These were both quick, simple paint jobs.

I also did this Bone Warlock from Knucklebones.

This particular maker came up in a DCM painting thread. I ended up getting enough for a good sized warband for The Doomed. The website says it's resin, but it feels like restic. 3D printed maybe?

Here are all three together:

Next up: more dudes from Knuclebones.

I had the same thought! That sword is a little familiar too but I haven't found it in the Citadel back catalogue yet ...

But also great work Josh, those construct pups are pretty wild concepts, especially the paper fox.

Yeah, a lot of this maker's product are very "Inspired By~." The trooper models I picked up, and will be sharing as I work through them, are quite chonky, and give off a 200AD/Heavy Metal vibe.

I can't take any credit for the sculpts, but I agree that they are pretty out there. The artwork in the FG supplement for the paper construct have it covered with runes, but I didn't think I could pull that off.

Thanks. It was super simple to paint.

I finished a few more of the Knucklebones models:

I got as many of these gas mask dudes as were available, intending to use them for The Doomed, but they'll fit a lot of post-apoc, near future games. Here's a group shot:

The theme for this month's Painting Challenge is "Wrecking Ball." I figure these Oldhammer Minotaur Lords fit the bill:

My son and I gave it a try a couple of weekends ago. The inspiration is very much there, at least for me, but the rules are a little too sparse for a teenager. A much more crowded, almost maze-like, board seems to be pretty important. I do like the double-trouble of Conflict and Horror, though. Lot's of great monsters to build!

Citadel minotaurs of a certain vintage are among my favorite Warhammer models. I always tried to field them in my Chaos armies, even if Ogres were better.

Here are some WIP photos:

This guy is mostly done, but I need to step away for a bit. Looking at these photos, I can see that his horns are too dark, and I need to lighten his hair some. The studded arm bands reminded me of Rob Halford, so I made him blonde, but all the various browns are kind of running together.

I've only done the skin and fur on this guy so far. I may go with black leather for all his belts.

I think these guys are as finished as they are going to get.

Minotaur Lords:

These guys painted up pretty quickly once I got past the preliminary stages. They're on 50mm bases, which gave me a lot of empty space to fill. Rather than go all in on tufts, I sculpted a vine for the sword guy, and a tree stump for the guy with the club.

Thanks. I feel like I'm still struggling with NMM on flat surfaces, so it's nice to hear that someone likes the results.

They certainly weren't shy about thongs and buttcheeks, that's for sure. Male or female, at that.

After the minotaurs, I returned to a project that I had put aside because I had trouble deciding how to approach the models:

This guy is a Beul (which is apparently a Dutch word for a torturer or executioner) from Knucklebones, the same sculptor as the gas mask dudes I posted last month. It took me a long time to figure out how to paint this guy-- his cloak was pretty simple, but it took a while for me to figure out what was going on with his pants. I'm not even sure what they are called, but they look a lot like WHFB Empire clothing, so I leaned into that. His hat and collar were originally solid red, but I went back and did this two-tone thing after I finished this next guy:

This guy went a little faster. I thought the blue was a little too boring, so I did him in two colors instead of one. I liked the effect enough to go back the the guy above.

I did this guy in one sitting yesterday. Not much to add, but these guys are pretty quick to paint up now that I know what I want to do with them. Here are all three together:

I have a couple more of these Beuls, along with some more gas mask troopers. The Dakka Challenge for December is the Open Round, so I'll need to dig into the backlog and find something cool to paint. I only have three weeks in December because I'll be visiting the US for the first time in years, so I'll have a little time pressure to spur me on.

I got them from Only Games, which seems to be a sort of intermediary printing service- 3D sculptors put their stuff up for sale, customers buy them, and the printer gives some of the proceeds to the sculptor.

Really love those Buels! Your style has really matured. As always, I love the color palette…. Once again, it’s a perfect fit for the models. Colorful, but gritty and realistic.

Excellent work, my friend!
