Right, this has been worrying me recently. I only drink fairly weak coffee (with milk and two sweeteners), but I've heard that all coffee is carcinogenic (it increases chances of cancer). I know that this is true for some overheated or deep-fried foods, but I'm told that's harmless in small quantities, and black-charred meat is carcinogenic too, but nobody in their right mind eats food burned that badly. I could see how large amounts of caffiene (like energy drinks, for example) would be harmful, but my white coffee?

I'm confused, Dakka. Help me!

Coffee = cancer? I drink coffee off and on but my friend's mom drinks coffee every day. She is cancer-free, and besides a little overweight, completely healthy.

But of course, I think everything should be taken in moderation. The human body has the ability to ingest some amazing crap. Coffee isn't going to kill you, unless you're hyper-ultra-super-sensitive to caffeine.

You should be fine.

I wouldn't worry about it, I doubt it makes a difference to someone who isn't already drinking so much coffee that the caffeine is killing them.

Wikipedia only states that many of chemicals are carcinogenic in rodents, and without a mention of how much of those chemicals has been shown to increase the risk of cancer, and how much is in coffee, it doesn't mean much. People are usually overly paranoid about "carcinogens" regardless.

Plus, it has antioxidants, which are the opposite of cancer. Or so TV tells me.

IT only dangerous if you spill it on your lap.

I am not sure how to put this... but no, they are probably using this as a means to scare you. That is quite common nowadays, but you should realize that drinking coffee, while smoking cigarettes, and eating a McDankies sandwich is a sure fire way to get unhealthy.

I want to see the study that links the stress of being part of an outlandish experiment to cancers... clop-trop, or total nonsense seems to apply quite easily to a lot of these studies.

Recent researsh shows coffee may reduce the risk or even reverse alzheimers.

Yeppers, nothing like a glass of... man, that mucus thing in the back of the throat after a glass of milk though... blechhh, but milk is still quite good .

I drink milk from : HongKong , Taiwan , Japan , New Zealand they are alll very tasty for some reason .

Then i drink Canadian / American / European milk , they are thick and gooey D: ( and upsets my stomach )

Probably because they are thick and gooey.

I like soy milk because I have a minor reaction to drinking regular milk, so I don't drink it and it goes bad.

Rice milk FTW though, almond milk too.

No/low lactose content? The rate of lactose intolerance is much, much higher in East Asia, with some estimates for China being over 90%.

Well the verdict is , even if coffee cant be proven to cause cancer , it'll atleast effect your calcium absorption.
Drink Milk: Does the body good ( drink plenty , you'll be able to get revenge on those chaffs & bogans )

I drink more milk than coffee. It's probably why I've never chipped a tooth or broken a bone.

You still have plenty of opportunity too mate .

Come on cheese, you know better than to drink or eat anything in this day and age! Pretty much everything causes cancer. And the stuff that cures cancer? Also causes cancer. Once you cut out all the carcinogens, you're pretty much left with a diet of whisky and marijuana

It tastes good, it has antioxidants, and it helps me get moving in the morning. Trust me, when you get up at 6:00 every morning, there's nothing that's going to wake you up faster than a nice cup of coffee.

Now try waking up without it. Also, there is no proven benefit to taking antioxidants.

I sometimes go without it. I don't get headaches from withdrawal, because one cup a day in the morning isn't going to do much.

If you're worried about coffee maybe you should quit wargaming while your at it. Green stuff is said to cause cancer, aswell as their being many health issues involved with plastic glues and resin.

As dreadnote pointed out, everything causes cancer. It comes down to whether you want to live in a plastic bubble or actually live your life.

Most people don't worry about crossing the road every now and again and there's a fairly high risk of outright death with that.
