Didn't know where in the 40k part to put this so I put it in the general discussion
I just want to know what people think about the new tyranids codex, i.e. cover art, what will be in it, etc

Do you really have to whine like that? Seriously I play Tau, how do you think I feel about this, BTW the Chaos Marine codex was only out in 07 man pretty young by codex standards

Apart from the models, Dark Eldar aren't bad, you know. Darklance/Raider spam and Grotesques are pretty good, and the DE version of Feel No Pain is crazygood.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I really can't wait to see some new Tyranid models. The Space Wolves models all seemed really corny to me, (the whole army is kind of stupid-looking, anyways) and there isn't anything wrong with the Tyranid plastics, but i LOVE the look and feel of tyranids, so the more the merrier.

I think, despite everyone's pleas for Eldar, Dark Eldar and other codexes that were overlooked, the Tyranids are a codex that could REALLY use an update to handle the new reduced points costs for dedicated troop transports. Most of the other armies that i think could use new codexes are only so that they can conform to the new reduced transport costs, but the tyranids really need an update to help COMBAT these new rules.

Maybe, but other than that they can't really, unless they name the space hulk broodlord as a special character or something, maybe a catachan devil.

So you think they'll mention the Octavian War? (outcome etc, super new nid/ork breed?)

rumor is nids are getting a plastic trygon....

I'm looking forward to a new nid codex. nids are one of my favorite opponents, their army is quite fun to play against, though a little bit too easy... PUMP UP THE DIFFICULTY LEVEL1!!

Id say its a good chance. All the other 5th edition codices have a boat load of SC in them.
HORST - Nids, once upon a time, were basically invincible. They are one of those armies that just that boost for some reason. I bet it will be a good dex. And as mentioned, they are easy to beat right now. Everyone gets regular troops for less point for point, and it comes down to them having to spam big ass nids. Ive heard they are suppose to go back to their hoarding ways again

Yeah, until they get into combat and do absolutely nothing. A full squad making it all the way across the board intact will kill 2-3 marines on the charge.

Then, to take grotesques in the first place, you have to forgo a unit of wyches.

Um...DE raiders are 55 points. They have less armor and open topped, making them much more vulnerable to fire. Do not come with handy upgrades like smoke launchers, etc. The raider does have a nice gun on it, but you're crazy if you think that the presence of a dark lance makes a raider worth 20 more points than a rhino.

Let's look at the facts of the current Codices:
Necrons? July 2002 (7 years ago)
Dark Eldar? Nov. 2003 update (less than 6 years ago)
CSM? Sep. 2007 (barely 2 years ago)
Tyranids? June 2005 (4 years ago)

Necrons are the longest in the tooth, and they do need a rules update, along with a lot more models.
Dark Eldar? Not for another 13 months, I hope.
CSM are brand new, with another 3 or 4 years to go before replacement.
Tyranids can use a rebalance, and only need a few new models.

I was collecting Tyranids for my second army but I'm deciding to sell it. Would the release hurt my chances of getting rid of em?

....I'm a Tau player, but I really think Necrons or Dark Eldar should have been updated. Unless they plan on phasing them out like they did with Squats.

IF you read my starting post you would know I did not know where to put this, and the purpose of this is for people to say what they think about it, not who should/should not get a new codex at what time.

Tryigon! Deepstrikes, area he deepstrikes into is difficult terrain IIRC, and him and his own ravener brood all get to move right through it, and he can pop a tank with his deepstrike! (or something like that, local nid player was going on and on about it, it sounds awesome, but I wonder how many points it will be )

Also, nids need a better gun than the Venom Cannon.

Edit: Oh yeah, and actually you can find the rules for Red Terror online (Old one eye not so much, he's basically just a regenerating carnifex) It'd be neat to see him try and swallow an assault terminator.

UM no it's not.
That would have been the first of the 3rd edition books.
I agree that the current book has some issues, but you shouldn't just make stuff up like that.
