I been trying to figure out what I want to do for my Psyker Battle Squad. I don't like the new headache psykers and I using the old ones for Mystics. Some thoughts have been Necromunda either Cawder with hoods and auto pistol and cc weapon or Escher with auto pistol and cc weapon but been having trouble getting a full unit of 9 without spending a bit for extra models that I don't need.

Any ideas?

If I had to go back and do it again, I'd just do cloaks and hoods on cadians or catachans out of green stuff. I used plague monks and ghouls from Fantasy and they were a pain in the ass to convert. They look okay, but it was a bit too adventurous for my skill level. I've seen success with empire flaggelant figures, however, so you might want to give them a shot.

Hiding for now! Actually they're mostly done but I need to get some guitar string for hoses (I wanted them to be more technological than psychological) and then I can finish up the painting and highlights and such.

I'm not too happy with the colours I chose, however. I went with a darkish green that I thought would look very grim but just ended up hiding all the details and making it hard to highlight without looking silly.

I'll put up some WIP pics so you can see what I mean.

I used fantasy ghouls + Pig Iron Heads + PVA soaked gauze for the skirts. Here's a few crappy pics - I'd take some better ones but I'm about to hit the hay.

The bit stuck on the side of England. Wales isn't it.

A bit too mutant for my liking. The codex has them much more guard looking . I used flagelants with cadian arms , and any bald head I could find , cadian sarge, space marine sarge and a few from the flagellant box. I supose its all about how you see tham. I know of a few references of them from the black library , both from Mr Abnett where psykers are described in different books as in the codex and as deformed in a cage. Like I said I went fot the codex version after all they are ment to be armed with a pistol and a cc weapon and have armour,

I used Necrmunda Ash Waste Nomads. Hard to come by, but I like the look. Aternatively, Cawdor or redemptionists may fit the bill as well, depending on your taste.

The overseer's body is from a valk gunner, but any offical-looking model will do IMO.

Vodski: I like yours a lot, the armour looks nice on them!

This is my Astropath, rather than a PBS, but you could go for a "Ladies of the Imperium" look

Ooohhh.... I completely forgot about Necroumunda as a source of models. Doh!

Cawdor & Redemptionist Juves would be excellent, and Ratskins also have good promise.

As I'm Tallarn, those Ash Waste nomads would have been perfect. Crap.

I like the description of the psykers in the later Gaunt's Ghosts books, so I'm gonna be using the Ghouls, but a bit less 'mutanty' than the ghouls above. Hands and heads replaced with more human flagellant ones, all spikes and horns filed off, cables and wires coming out of their spines...

Also, in the GG books they have lots of armed guards, so each 10 man squad is going to be one enforcer, four guards and five psykers...

Ratskins would be a lot more feral, which isn't necessarily a bad thing of course. Just pointing it out. Delaques might work as well, if yo're going for a matrix theme.

Good luck finding some... I've got three left over from the box, but they're all carrying guns shouldered; converting those would be ridiculously hard I guess. Maybe I''ll transform one into a count-as-vindicare.

Sisters of Sigmar or possessed from Mordheim might also do the trick, anyone tried something with those models?

The Sisters Augur is way expensive - it's a Charater model.

Mordheim Possessed are huge - you'll do better with Sisters.

I was thinking regular sisters as well, and the cultists from the possessed gang wear spears, allowing for neasy conversions to staffs. Of course, those would fit better with renegade guart I guess...

I was thinking along these lines as well,at least using flagelents as the base, with the addition of various bits.

I suppose it would have been good to mention that I was making a Traitor guard PBS so I was going for a more mutant look. Great ideas on models all around though.

Flagellants are pretty beefy, tho. Not the best match for S2.

Maybe Bret Peasants?

I like flagellants. Bret peasants are way too medieval looking. I'm not sure how you could get around that.

I too am building Traitor Guard, the Flaglents just seem to fit the bill (with additions),however,Johns plague monk idea is a good one as well, perhaps incorperate some VC ghoul(?)or zombie components.

Well, what about using the flagellant legs and using the ghouls torsos. Less beefy and kind of a mutanty hunch-back look. Take some Zombie arms for the staff look and put a pistol in the other hand. That's what I plan on doing. If someone buys my orks, Ill go out and get the stuff and post pictures.

Thanks for the comments about mine. It seems it really is a personal choice. Things is , after I finished mine they have only played in two games. One a planetstrike , where they stayed safe, tucked up in a building , and the second time in a game of apoc where they were in the comfort of a chimera. So they haven't actually got on the board yet.

Thinking about it, I rather like the looks of the Flagellants for Overseers. But I'm not buying a whole box of 10 guys to make 2 models!

I always thought of the Overseers as non-psychics who are grizzled commissar-esque guys. I mean they essentially have an extra powerful "it's for your own good" so it sort of makes sense.

I just converted up a regular guardsman with a head from the command sprue and it seemed to work quite well. He looks like he's not exactly enjoying his job... which I think is the point
