Who is your favourite miniature sculptor, GW or otherwise?
Mine has been Jes Goodwin for as long as I can remember. I guess that is partly because my surname is also Goodwin, but mainly because I have loved his Eldar figures from the day I first got into the hobby and still love figures like his Khorne Lord on Juggernaut today. I also love his pencil artwork.
Martin Footitt, on the other hand, seems to have a talent only for improbable poses and body shapes....

Daren Parrwood
Mark Bedford
Phil Stutcinskas
Will Hayes
Why? Because I just think the new Forge World Ork stuff blows most of the GW stuff away. These guys know Orks. The GW stuff is a bit silly for the wrong reasons.
The Worst:
I don't know but I will say it is the person (whether through fluff or model design) that really began to make Space Marines really ostentatious. Most of them look like they could barely fight with all the useless crap they carry. This pertains mostly to the Space Marine hierarchy, of course. I know many disagree, however.
Yikes! Just, yikes.

Jes Goodwin for over all consistency of superb models, but the Perry twins are up there as is Seb Perbet for his awesome Shok Atack gun.
Bad sculpt wise I can never forgive Gary "must have nude photo's of the boss" Morely for Nagash the giant skeletal clown!

I'm pretty happy with all of Jes' minis:
- Eldar (2E)
- Sisters of Battle
- Escher (Nec)
- plastic SM
Honorable mention to Juan Diaz- apparently, he's about the only GW sculptor who can actually make feminine-looking female minis.
I own nothing by Kev Adams or Gary Morley as far as I know.

Don't know the name of whom ever did them, but for an army of entirely metal miniatures, the SoB are wonderfully sculpted. There is a scarcity of well done female faces in the whole citadel range, whom ever did the SoB has got- in my opinion - the right mix of feminism and butch warior ladies. They even thought to do miniatures with their eyes shut (A first?).I doff my hat etc...

Morley is going to come in for criticism and I don't think it's justified for everything. I like much of his chaos work and his models for inquisitor.
I just don't get why they gave him endless amounts of elves to do, I didn't like his elves, they are too bulky, that 'female' dark elf dreadlord is highly unpleasant. His style was well suited to chaos though.
It just got fashionable to kick the guy after Nagash.

As they say, even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then.
But for the most part, Morley does crap work compared to the rest, so the criticism is well-deserved.
If he didn't want the criticism, he should do a better job of sculpting.
IOW, it's not our fault that he's a bad sculptor.

Morely for worst. They let him do more he/she dark elves.
I used to put Brian Nelson up there but the Cadians look too "samey" and constipated. I think he did the Imperial Advisors.
If so, I vote for him. Otherwise, Juan Diaz. For the "old" Daemonettes. Those make a career in my mind.

MeanGreen is right,
some of his large fisted elves were good models,
Nagash was a little underwhelming (but the model is VERY old now).
I suppose whoever did the new space hulk models gets a nod from me (I never found out) but in general Jes Goodwin is great. Consistently good models (But in general most of the current range are out of this world good compared to a few years back).

I don't know his name but he goes by Freeman on CMON and sculpts for andrea miniatures. Really wonderful stuff.

Tom Meier for scultping what are essentially classical statues in miniature form.

Sorry some really old memories coming out here but;
I have never lost my love of the Goblin spearmen and archers range from about 1987/88, a great mix of character and humour [and they all had names!] all by Kev Adams - great stuff. Also the Life and Death elementals from the same period [not sure whom these were by though] - Life elemental = GW's best ever female sculpt!
Worst sculptor is Bob Olley for his various RT era work - Seriously bad 40k pirates/scum, chaos maruders and space dwarfs! All of them replusive! I do note however from his site he has improved but is still sculting some seriously ugly space dwarfs sorry Scrunts as he has dubbed them.
But I reserve most of my ire for all sculpters that had their hand in the "RED white dwarf dibarcle era" or 1993-2000 as some others will know it as [probably listed too long a period but I wanted to catch all of their crimes in one go!] . Everything was over the top, heroic scale hit new high with impossible to wield weapons and massive heeeds! The final and worst crime being Nagash! Is it any wonder that GW has purged most of its earlier mini's when they looked like this.

How do you guys feel about that guy who goes by Scribor or whatever? I hear like 90% bad press towards him but generally when I look at his example photos I am pretty impressed.
I like the Moscals designs he has going right now and had considered using them for Chaos Dwarves when playing in my social circles.
Is there something I do not know?

Juan Diaz is easily my favourite, soley for making a giant frog look not just respectable, but pretty damn awesome. I also have a lot of time for anything by the Perry Twins and Brian Nelson can take a bow for his reinvention of the Orc/Ork look.
As for the worst, whoever did the current Dark Elf sorceress (the one wreathed in smoke) should put down his/her sculpting tools and explore a new profession.

Jes Goodwin's plastic Space Marines are still in service today after almost 12 years, and they still look fantastic. That's the hallmark of a good sculpt. I also love the Perry bros. and their work on the Lord of the Rings models. While I don't play, I can really appreciate their craftsmanship.
As for least favorite, I would say Gary Morley. Nagash and many of the Dark Eldar models, along with tons of really 2D looking fantasyhammer figures. No thank you.

Jes Goodwin and Matt Holland from GW. Jes needs no explanation, Matt because his Tau models look awesome. If he's the guy working on Tau models then I'll be very happy when release time rolls around.
Least favorite: Gary Morley, who also probably needs no explanation. And oddly enough I'm not fond of whoever's been doing a lot of the new Chaos models, like the soulgrinder, the spawn, the possessed, etc. They're nice kits, but...something about them is just off, they look too cartoony even for GW models.
I also have to add Simon Egan from Forge World, he does some good stuff. Whoever did the new XV9 hazard suit gets props, too. As for a worst FW sculptor...do they have one? lol
