Neat vehicles, nice special character sniper chic, and enough zombies to satisfy a counts as AdMech or LatD player - let alone those who play AT-43.

I have been waiting for this, enjoy.

I don't speak enough french to make any sense of that, so I'll just have to go by the pictures and number of exclamation points.

The game stat cards look the same in English. However from my admittedly miserable French we can see that:

ONI basic Zombies can cost as much as humans, elite zombies are very expensive. This is not a horde army.

Cheap zombies autodestruct, elite zombies have a decent melee attack.

However ONI vehicles are on the cheap, 690pts for a *** vehicle including the top level hero and 325pts for a ** is under usual. Yes they have only one gun each, but the savings are good.

From what I can tell the zombie gun is a blast weapon that turns victims killed into zombie detonators with similar caveats to GW that the ONI player must provide the minis.

??The Zombie master has a similar ability??

I dont know what a Shomyo is.

Zombies are unbreakable and ??recover the LP used to activate them??

Everything else is standard, with all vehicles getting the repair ability

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

They also look like ideal candidates for Necromunda/=I=Munda or Servitor conversions.

Looks like I'll be picking up two boxes. I'll definitely be rebasing/repainting one sniper for use as an IG/Vindicare sniper and using the other for AT-43. The vehicles look like they would blend in any CityFight table as generic terrain, also. Really, this is a win-win set for AT-43 and 40K players.

The Zombie Gun has the Contamination Ability, which turns enemies killed into Type 1(Detonator or Contaminator Zombies[which ALSO have Contamination!]) Zombies.

The Zombie Master(a specialist) gives the UNIT Contamination, meaning ALL weapons(not just the Zombie Guns) gain Contamination. Needless to say, units with Master/Medic Specialist combos(which is what comes in the AB) can be pretty nasty.

A Shomyo is a rank of Officer.

Zombies are unbreakable and what I think they mean by "recover LP" is supposed to be the Zombie Ability which means that an opponent has to pay an LP in order to shoot a Zombie unit.

I was thinking the same thing about the servitor / necro similarities.

Plus, the tanks looks phenomenal.

First game release I've been excited about in a long tme..

I can assure you that they don't in person. They're very good quality(even though they don't rotate, the tires ARE rubber or at least a rubber-like material).

Notice how leader vehicles get +1 numbers, so ** and *** vehicles can be taken in squadrons.

Good, but doesnt make up for the lack of a *** hull type, its supposedly heavy and a size scale bigger but its the same chassis.

I am thinking of using a 'real' tank mini instead one with tracks, and add Vlads gun to it. Meanwhile finding a suitable ** vehicle from the book to represent with the Vlad chassis, with the replacement gun as appropriate.

It all depends on what is in the book.

How hard is the plastic on these? That sniper's gun looks like it should flex around a lot, which makes painting a real pain. The zombies are not too bad though, assuming all the parts are thick enough to resist too much bending.

Everytime I paw through my drawers of Rakham metals, I shed a little tear that they no longer make really nice metal models anymore.:(

This was done expressly for taking them as Mercs in the A-Volution Cogs Faction(whose Disadvantage requires all Vehicles to increase their minimum number to 2). There is no way to purchase extra members within the ONI book itself.

Yes, ONI platoons bought as Merc Platoons benefit from the parent Platoon's Faction Advantages/Disadvantages. The English version book has a misprint in the Merc description which states Odd Numbered Units, which was mistranslated from the French word for Sections, which is correctly translated as Platoons, not Units.

The models use different grades of plastic for different parts, but I've been pretty disappointed with the quality of their weapons. As you suspected, they are too soft and rarely appear straight.

Drat. Thanks for the info Mastiff. Maybe some styrene or brass tubing would make for a good replacement.

Quite so. I like the vehicles better than the 2-axle one I've seen before, the proportions for them work better and I expect to see some of them as conversion fodder in the future.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

I found this picture on a forum when I was searching for pics of the ONI starter box figs. No idea of whether or not it's actually in the works, but it looks like a *** vehicle to me. If they do make it, I can see it being a big seller.

@ Warpcrafter: That looks like some form of Karman AFV. The curved design is similar to their flying vehicles.
It could be an older abandoned idea, or perhaps it may yet be made.

While I haven't had the chance to play much of any game system recently, I'm very happy that the ONI are finally coming out; I have been waiting for nigh on a year now since the first images were revealed. I really like their look. My anticipation is running high.

Looking at the RE Previews page though, I gather that it may well be next year before we see any of the masked live troopers. Well I assume they're alive... Has the name for their Unit type been revealed?

I love streamline, makes me with that there was a 40k scale model line that used its design principles, if only for the conversion possibilities. In any event though, anything is better than the rediculous megagun apc they have in that review. Neither design makes much sense, but at least streamline is awesome looking.

IMO, the box art for AT43 is so pretty and the models are so ugly. I was sucked into it at first and then played a few games out of Operation Damocles . . . I'm glad I did. Haven't bought a piece of it since. And what's with the monkeys? Oni seems like a much more compelling idea but it's too little (I think that APC looks like gak) too late.

The 2 live troop types are called ONI Korps UN(Laser Rifles with Laser Guns) and ONI Korps TH(Sonic Rifles with Sonic Guns). They are alive, and that makes a difference as some factions make it a point of having Type **(Zombies) and Type **(no Zombies) listings.

It's a Fire Toad variant produced by ONI Industries. However, it didn't make it into the book to further differentiate ONI from UNA in style.

Also, interesting note: if you look at some of the tiles for Rush N' Crush closely, you'll see yellow News/Pit service variant Toads. The race vehicles are enormous in comparison(larger than the King Mammoth). According to Martin Terrier, everything in the game is in proper scale to each other, too.

No, I mean we were told point blank at GenCon that they're not putting it in the army.

Aaron Gilbraith was never given it to translate into English, either.

If Rackham has cancelled the unit, are they going to bother to inform retailers, or just let everyone swing.
