Major things that I need to work on: I've not done the =][= buckle yet (d'oh), I need to bring up the staff wayyyy up to bone, and the main colours to the base. But, getting there.

Love the idea of a censer-bearer rhino

Sweet-smelling smoke dispensers are indispensible on the 40k battle-field.

Also, checking you recieved the rhino visors...they were sent last Friday, so I would really expect it to have got to you by now.....chaos weather systems haven't been so bad as to affect the ordus postus I'd have thought.....

Got it this morning mate. Much, much obliged. Glad you like my sweet smelling madness.

So, a wee bit of progress.

Redid the front. Much happier. Added a laud-hailer, though I don't have the front-piece so that'll be a custom build.

And side-by-side with #1:

And with counts-as confessor balanced jauntily atop:

I've also started tentatively on the Ecclesiarchy:

And another contest in the offing from cormadepanda's brain means more ADHD from me:

7 members of the to-be 10-man brotherhood:

The plan is a base/scenery piece using a cut-up broken Aquila with some chaos corpses strewn across it. Need 3 more unit members, want to keep them all fairly robey, planning an incinerator, a NDH and... something. Probably another swordsman. I have a metal DA character (Ezekiel maybe?) who might work? You may recognise some of these bad-boys from a while back, I've tweaked them all in various ways. I also need to build a gms swordsman of some sort, I had a plan but it just didn't quite gel.

I need a bit of dedicated painting time to work on Senior Inquisitor Andreas. At least he has a name!

Later peeps,

I wish! Freehand still evades me. It's sculpted on - the cloak (at least the non-gs element) is from the empire battle wizard.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of a Hereticus Damocles. The ability to smite your foe from on high is just so right!

Anyhoo...
I want the howdah to match, but not be identical:

Note the alternate censer. Better, worse, or use both?

You can also see both censers in this shot.

Interior details have also begun:

I knew I'd use these for something eventually.

This was originally planned for the gk but never got round to it. I'll not be able to attach the howdah till the interior's painted, as it's not going to be removable. Not sure how to do the big dish yet (well, I have the aquila scanner from the ig apocalypse upgrade, which I'll use, but not sure how to mount it).

I like that cloak on the Ecclesiarchy bloke, nice colour.
I prefer the round censer, but I think one of each is good.

That massive antennae array made me lol. That would be awesome to do, but I agree, totally impractical.

I'm not so sure though about the little door on the front. It looks a bit too door-y and not enough tank-y. Are you going to modify it a bit?

I like the sensor array idea graven, and especially the massively over-the-top antenna! I think it fits 40k perfectly myself...

One thing though, in the first and last pictures, there a light (?) on the left side of the top of the Rhino with a little crowned skull over it...it kinda looks like the skull is humping the back on the light...like a little dog......

I think I may just go with a pair of round censers. The front door was trying to echo the rhino mk1 front doors but gothic style. They're not finished though yet, bear with me!

So, yeah, basically, it is utterly ridiculous and I love it. Next, more detailing, and I have a cunning plan for this - my wife has a cricut (die cutting machine) for caking; let's see if it can cut 010 gauge styrene as easily as sugar paste...

You know, I forgot to mention it earlier, but I love the interior cabin detail. That's the kind of special touch that really sets a model apart in my mind. It's one thing to fiddle with the outside (which is all I do) but to make the effort to add detail to the inside... where it will be largely unseen and unappreciated. That's special. Kudos graven, you make us all proud.

Awwww Thanks mate. I have more planned, tbh. The internal side doors will have servitors lurking (cos those censers won't stoke themselves) and a seated figure at the console: a modded Karamazov if I can get a hold of one, a servitor or kitbash sob otherwise.

I think you'll find in the grimdark future everything needs to be louder. Or at least said twice. That why it's dakka-DAKKA.

So, a bit of progress on his pimp-ness:

C&C away! He's modelled vaguely on Metropolis, who saw it today and cackled heartily. The resemblance really is striking. I'd hoped to get more done, wife taken to bed early, kids asleep shortly after - and then the bloody phone rings, cold call at that. An hour later, I'm back downstairs, and my get up and go has got up and gone. Bah.

I bought a tin of Flames of War British Brown today - I like the colour generally (I have one of the FoW VJ sets) and I'm going to prime all of my Welshmen in it; then, I'm going to try brushing on quickshade. Anyone have any experience? Should I go with soft tone or dark tone? The plan is, one primed, to block in flesh and add some colour washes here and there before quickshading.

Hey ho - parental invasion tomorrow.

Liking it so far...the face, in particular the eyes look good. Tiny niggle is that the right hand doesn't seem to match the other flesh tone....just a wee timorous niggle that though.

I think his armour could do with a different colour added. Something regal that makes him stand out...perhaps some crimson or gold detail.

His skin tone does look rather like him armour.

The blue coat is the right choice and makes him stand out on the table as something more important than a guard commander.
