I couldnt resist myself when I saw the Golden Bolter Comp over at bolterandchainsword.com, so my Nurgle Defiler project was put on hold.

Having done some sculpting, I would like to share the progress so far. I had never seen a Nurgle Jump Lord anywhere so I started my own. Maybe Nurgle and Jump packs is a no no, but felt that I should and give it a go.

The fine sand on the jump pack will be rust texture... I had some success with that on my rhinos before.

I think i need to see it with paint on it, the bare metal and the plastic are too contrasting for me to find a solid focal point.

Yeah, i am a fan of this. Normally, i don't really like the idea of nurgle with anything super fast attack like, but this is super well done. I can't wait to see it painted

Agreed that I need to see paint on this to formulate an overall opinon, but I will say I am not a fan of the base. I reall feel their is no purpose in covering a base with just skulls as honestly I think you could do a lot more with it that will showcase the model greatly.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Looks pretty fantastic to me

And I would disagree with those above suggesting that nurgle should not have speedy models... it is nice to see someone making them.

Edit: Though I am not so sure about the vent/worms on the top of the jump pack... look a little off to me and don't really fit in or appear to have any function.

Should be good scale wise.

Urgh! Lovely!

Anyway, add me to the chorus of people praising your work and wanting to see it painted!

(Well, maybe a little less enthusiastic about that now, given H.A.T.'s suggestions! )

I too would prefer a few less skulls on the base - how about some giant maggots? Otherwise nice (in a disgusting sort of way).

For a long time I considered Nurgle jump packs as a no-no,however,the more I consider the "air borne pathogens" angle, the more I've made peace with the idea.
Anyway,I like what I'm seeing so far,and look forward to seeing the finished product.

Looks nice so far, need to see it up close before I decide about some of the stuff. It seems a bit off in places but I love the idea of a Nurgle jumper. Maybe it's too late now but how about making fly wings (Nurgle->Rot->Decay->Flies) instead of a traditional jump pack?

Thanks all for the feedback. I understand that some have problems with the skulls on the base.
But hey, I am skull freak. I even like the skull pits on the Citadel gaming board.... : )
The idea behind the skulls was that I had some plans for a diorama with the lord hovering in a acient battle field. But I will probably never do that...

The model is halfway in the painting process, I try to post a WIP when I get home today.

Soo, took a couple of pics this evening...

The body armour is dry brushed in 11 layers from catachan green, camo green, rotting flesh, bleached bone and finally skull white.

Metal parts base coated in boltgun and washed with 50/50 blazing orange/snakebite leather for rust effect

Flesh parts basecoted with red gore and layered with dwarf flesh.

Left to do is flesh parts a few more layers and wash, metal parts, base, wireing and general clean up and probably a little more I forgot about.

Very nice looking. Its much easier to see the details of this guy once he's been painted. I feel like your claws (and some of the other metalics) could use a little mroe highlighting. Then again it is nurgle. Shouldn't be all too shiney! :-P

A quick update... did some painting tonight. The flesh, rims and base got some more layers.
The flesh parts will get a gloss varnish when he is done, that will make the flesh pop more and the layers will show more depth.
