Simples. It's in, what, 4 days? If there was a new race a-brewing, it'd be sculpted, have a Codex etc. The Wolf Dex, for instance, was written over a year ago now. GW may be a lot of things, but blatantly stupid business practice isn't one of their traits.

I'm not saying the Demiurg, Barghesi, Thexian Elite, AdMech, Dinosaurians, Transformers, Daleks, Spongebob, Bananas in Pyjamas, etc aren't getting released ever. Just that they're not in GWs short-term plans.

Look, Squats, LatD, Zoats, whatever else - just not that popular. Making a lot of noise doesn't mean you're the majority.

The lists in Codex:Armageddon got partially integrated into their revised Dexes, but nobody complains that Speed Freeks no longer get the awesome Guntrukk. (I personally converted 5, and had to break them again when it was taken from me.)

Nobody minds that Sallies are now I4.
Nobody minds that Steel Legion are now the same as Cadians.
Nobody cares that BTs were the only ones to walk away from that Dex happy.
Nobody REALLY misses the Ulthwe Strike force, even though they're far and away the most popular Craftworld. (Stupid fall back rules!)
Feral Orks, Exodites, Wulfen, Deathwatch? - Most players don't care that much. Sure, I'd love them all to be available. Really, I would. But it was good business to drop them. Especially since, when they return, nutters will go apeshit for the cool rerelease, and buy in bulk.

God, roll on 25th July so this can be laid to rest.

We are most certainly NOT all wishing for a new race. Ask Dark Eldar, Necron, and Tyranid players. Hell, ask Daemonhunters, Witch hunters, Tau, Orks and even Eldar players, if they'd rather a new race, or a new Codex.

DE, necrons maybe nids and inquisition need a new one, and of course would prefer their codex to come out first, but as an eldar player, i've gotta say that the codex works well enough not to need a new one. and i meant to say take instead of want

Surely though, you'd rather Vypers to be priced appropriately, Hawks and Spears not to suck, to FINALLY get the missing phoenix lords, for said lords to be outside the FoC so there's a reason to take them (they're still too expensive to take them all, so this isn't in any way broken) Wave Serpents to either be 15 points cheaper or come with free Cannons and appropriately costed upgrades (seriously, twice as much as a Chimera!) Wraithguard to not suck, Avatars to be Fleet, Autarchs to get Exarch weapons, Wraithlords to not suck (could let this one slide), Shadow Weavers to be Large Blast...

But fair enough, you meant take - but I think my previous posts give reasons why this is not likely.

Elessar, sometimes you have to just accept that a thread has taken on a life of its own. As I've said a few times, this is a rumor based on a conversation a random poster had with a redshirt. It's the kind of "rumor" that's usually slapped down within 4 posts around here. But now we're up to 10 pages.

This might show GW that in the absence of information, people will make things up to fill the void. And that might not be exactly what GW wants. Just wait for the nerd rage when nothing we didn't already know about is unveiled at Chicago.

Have never wished for any of the above. Fleeting Avatars Seriously, the Eldar Codex is mostly acceptable with a few duff choices that all Codexes seem to have.

half of that makes little sense, eg exarch weapons on an autarch, fleeting avatars, wraithlords sucking and phoenix lords being outside the FoC. Lets go over why, 1. Exarch weapons are weapons that are reserved for those that have become Exarchs, eg lost themselves along that Warrior Path, as Autarchs would have gone down some, maybe all, of the Warrior paths, and turned away, from a fluff standpoint it would make little sense. 2. Giving Avatars fleet is an extremly broken thing to do, it would mean very little would be able to stand up to them. 3. wraithlords do not suck, 100 points for a S10 T8 monstrous creature that can re-roll rolls to hit in CC. 4. currently i take Karandras and Asurmen together as my HQ choices, and although that means that the rest of my army is small, i get two guys that can rip the feth out of most enemy models, with a minor bit of tinkering with points with the system you suggestd phoenix lord spam would become the next big tourney army, IMO that is a very broken thing to do.

Sure, it's better than most. But, if possible, get a copy of the previous Editions Dexes, and note the points cost laziness. Perhaps, the costs have been miraculously balanced ever since 2nd. Or maybe, Phil Kelly was just lazy. Maybe he was bullied into leaving them as is. Whatever the reason, it's not cool for several things to vary no more than 10 points over 3 Editions of the game.

Fleeting Avatars are necessary to make them playable. Wishing for Hawks to not suck I'd have thought was a fundamental law of physics.

Hardly - You can run from a Fleeting Avatar. Or, shoot it. It's still 3 turns away, on average.

Exarch weapons are abundant, certainly more so than bodies.

As I said, Phoenix Lords are too expensive to take more than 2, even if outside the FoC. You pay 445 points for those HQs. I'd happily play you on a 4'x4' board, with 445 points of Bolters. Nothing but Bolters.

Wraithlords are TERRIBLE. Okay, 100 points S8 blahblah. For 130 points, I can kill you in one round of shooting from 48" away. Having moved 6". Oh, and I can fulfil a varied role, whereas you're just a poor man's Carnifex.

How many points do you play, that you can afford such exorbitant expense on HQ?

Wouldn't it be awesome if we could stay on topic . . . oh no wait this is a forum where people get to talk about everything that's bad in their codex in EVERY thread . . . gets kinda lame after a while, and I've been here less than a week!

Anyway, if a new race is released at Chicago that would be awesome, some nice easy sales for my store . . . but in reality, with so much going on at the moment I don't think one will be released for another year . . . but I suppose it could be released, aslong as it isn't released before DE =p

There is a BIG SECRET to be unveiled at Chicago, but I'm expecting Space Hulk with plastic corridor sections.

Space Hulk would be cool and all, but after Planetstrike and Planetary Empires, I think I shall be all 40Ked out (yes, I know Hulk is not 40K, but it's the same universe).

A new race is imperative. I can't wait to log unto DakkaDakka 15 years from now, and read about all the people who complain about how their codex hasn't seen an update in 15 years, and how, 7 editions later, it's messed up, and how annoyed they are that marines got 20-30 updates since.

Edit: And, of course, all the replies about how there hasn't been a DE update in 25 years and how much more they deserve it, and how the new race is not getting an update simply because it doesn't sell. and how the reason they ain't getting an update is because Necrons are getting one every 6 months.

Ok, so I play Necrons.

Personally, I'd like to see space rats. They just fit so well with the interplanetary travel, and all the sweet sweet transport vessels with millions of tons of goods to chew through. The rats could even be pirates, capturing transports in space, or taking on less heavily defended outposts and such. There are just so many cool conversion posibilities with a space rat army. Like the Orks, but less ramshackle, and more sneaky inventions. (The rat Reepacheep (sp?) were always my favourite Narnia character. can you tell?)

Another idea for the Codex: Inquisition is personal armies of Rogue Traders 'in service' to Inquisitors. In the Ciaphas Cain novels (at least) there are several hints (and overt statements) that Inquisitor Vail has one or more Rogue Traders in her network of 'associates'. Could be cool to see some more eccentric Mechanicum inventions, made on commission for 'private interests'.

Official 40K cosplay accessories. Foam-rubber chainswords. Airsoft bolters. And huge freaking shoulderpads with different race-specific bitz to make little Timmy into a Spaze Mahreen, then a Battle Sister, etc.

That's my bet.

Seriously folks, it's not going to be anything important. If it's Space Hulk, I'll be shocked (although shocked AND gathering my funds to buy like 8 sets).

It's not Space Hulk, as that isn't new. Also do you really think that they would limit the sale of something that has such a great following? I know that 3/4 at my club would buy Space Hulk if it came out, and with the rumours saying limited edition . . . possibly only 2 to a shop . . . or whatever. . . I doubt Space Hulk is going to be the massive secret . . . and that is my 2 pence.

I would love that! Basically the Criminals of Imperium that work within the Imperium system. Their biggest and strongest power is that they can use weapons from most of the other races and even get their hands on secret Imperial Guard or Inquisition etc items. Pretty much a army that gets its stuff from the black market and other races too!
