There is already a really great ADMECH codex that has nifty units and rules. I say they make it "official" and release limited editions of the codex to stores and then publish it on the Website ALA Blood Angels.

OOO! I want my Adeptus Mech army now!
KK, your veiling of sarcasm abilities are of great reknown, so forgive me if the above was intended as humour.
If it wasn't, then I would say that I could make an Adeptus Mechanicus army tomorrow by the simple expedient of painting everything red. Really can't see how a new Codex is needed to scratch that itch.

While I would be excited for Adeptus Mechanicus, I can't help but feel GW won't go far enough with them. Every race thats waiting for a codex redo I think would also be annoyed. If it is Adeptus Mechanicus, between that and space hulk my bank account will probably just find some dark corner to crawl into and die.
I'm betting this is all going to be space wolves, unless this is really some FW thing.

Agreed. Plus, if it is furry then all template weapons should auto wound and cause instant death regardless of strength.
My guess... A combining of WH and DH into a single codex.

Although given that they didn't preview Planetstrike stuff at Games Day Baltimore (even though GD France got a looksee a week or two earlier), I highly doubt Chicago will be the setting for some kind of major announcement. Although again, I could see FW announcing something. That's the one part of the company that's still willing to talk about upcoming projects.

I am sure this has probably been discussed already but I was talking with a red-shirt at a Chicago area game store and asked him about that BOLS post from the other day. He said he had heard nothing about it but he did say that he was told from his sources that a new 40K race would be announced at the Chicago Games day. He said that while he didn't know what exactly it was going to be, all signs pointed to something Imperial. I asked if that meant Ad-Mech and he said that he couldn't imagine what else it would be (and neither can I if it is Imperial).
On a side note, he also said that while he's heard nothing definitive about Space Hulk yet, he expects it to be the big GW Christmas release.
Hopefully I haven't retread too much, just wanted to pass on what I heard. Obviously, it could be all , but you never know.
well, a friend of mine works for GW and says that an Ad-mec army was coming soon. putting one and one together, i would say that is precisely what this new race is. of course, it could just be another marine chapter. which would really piss me off, because last time i checked, the last thing we need is recycled material. The issue is that their lockdown policy means they wouldn't announce the release unless it was only several weeks away. And there aren't any new armies showing up on the trade order that I'm aware of. Again, unless it's a FW project.

Codex: Craftworlds and Daemons wish to have a word.
There's a reason there can be a ton of Imperial/Marine codexes.
The reason?
There's a ton of Imperial branches that could potentially be fielded, as are there Marine chapters that significantly diverge from the Codex chapters.

either that, or an entirely character-oriented imperial army based on the characters from star trek. Goodness knows we don't have enough human characters, with only half of the possible playable races being human.
In all sincerity, people care too much about what's new. We all know that at the end of the day, GW is gong to come out with something no one gives a rat's ass about, and they'll have to raise the prices on everything else to make up for their loss, just like usual.
GW might all be jerks, but you can't say they aren't consistent!

This is true for every other army in the game as well. Every army has units and variant organization that significantly diverges from their basic codex. I don't think anyone would have a problem with this if the basics for every other army were already covered. The problem is, that's far from the case. This is 5th edition, and there are still armies that are running off of 3rd edition codices.

Oh, I'm well aware of the Dark Eldar debacle, and Necrons could use a smidge of lovin' too.
But there's not too much differing a Farsight Enclave to a standard Tau army, that couldn't easily be noted in Farsight's section, or a few pages of extending the codex to say how an Ulthwe Strike Force would have differed from the standard Ulthwe defender forces, stuff of that nature.
It's a shame that they didn't do it that way for Eldar at least.
