There used to be this delivery firm in the UK that had black vans with a speeding puma on the side...your Rhino reminds me of that...wish I had a pic to show you. Can't remember what it was called. Think PUMA - anyone in the UK help me out?

Great yellow.

Some more WIP of my rhino and, per request, a picture not on my display shelf of the rhino with marines.

I've still got a lot to do on the rhino but its coming together. I still have to highlight the stripes a bit and paint the symbol on the gray circle. I've got to add some washes and do some highlights on the dirt I've added along the rhino's tracks. I've got to figure out what I want to do with the spiked ram in the front as well.

Glory to the Twelfth! Glory to Angron!

‎"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Now, this may appear to be a weird angle, but after taking a plethora of pictures this one really conveyed the message the best. This guy has just picked up an exorcist shoulder pad and is examining it. I've greenstuffed the base and added a damaged chest plate as well. This guys is going to be one of my veterans so I've also given him terminator honors on his right shoulder pad. This simple pose really stands out to me, I think I'm really going to like this guy.

After MUCH altering and debating Steve finally figured out his axes that his assault marines will be wielding. I took the time to grab a picture before he left with them and MY PRIMER!

I also snapped a quick picture of what my force is so far. Still a long way to go, but it's getting there. Since I took this picture I've actually built another marine and primed my land raider. (good thing I keep a hidden stash of primer)

I am debating about sticking a dead marine on the front of the rhino or razorback, as if the marine had been impaled by those spikes in the front. Thoughts?

impaling a marine seems a bit too chaos like, What i think would be cool would be one of those plow things vindicators have and make some sort of dirt, mud, rubble stuff its pushing and having bits of dead marines within that rubble.

Trophies are very chaos, which your marines are not (yet), so I'd avoid that. I get it wouldnt be a trophy per say, but it will remind people of it.

I wasn't thinking trophy like, more along the lines that the tank was driving along and just happened to impale a space marine. Now, I do like your idea of the dozer blade pushing some dirt with a space marine in it, however in the tournament if I had a dozer blade on my tank I'd have to pay the points to actually have it there. Oh well, it was just a thought.

I think the problem is in the Ultramarine omnibus and the codex iirc, there is a scene of CSM with a marine stuck on the front that is pretty graphic, and therefore remembered well.

I remember that part.

Ice, maybe have an impaled helmet on the spikes. But that seems trophy like also...

Hmmmm, okay I will definitely be scratching the impaled marine thought, BUT after much discussion on painting apothecaries and chaplains, I have been thinking that I may want to make a wounded apothecary as one of my objectives. That way I can get away with painting a white with black stripes marine and I just so happen to have everything I need to make an apothecary, now just need to figure out a way to make him wounded.

I don't know about the impaling...I think it could look cool.

Could you not paint the impailed marine as Chaos, or just give it a skeletal head so that it looks like his just been picked up as they are moving acoss the field...

Of course if you wanted you could get some Rhino Marines and hang them on...

I have my dreadnaught destroying some of the old dark eldar models (one underfoot and one in the power claw). I originally was trying to vaguely reinact the scene from the DOW trailer (I think?) where the dreadnaught flamed the eldar. I failed and so made do with what I could. The morale of this slight rant is that some places I have been to have been far from please at the use of my "diorama" and that has detraced from my enjoyment of the games. I think I read somewhere they can be banned too? Maybe misinterpretting that so I leave it to more experienced players to please correct me.

My take on it would be to avoid it for the reasons above and the extra time it would take to do it.

Not to say I would not like to see it though

@ taffiarti - While I can understand some unorthhodox models being confusing for other players, I would be royally pissed if people had a problem with a "diorama" like you described! Done properly and with respect to the fluff these kind of additions can make an average model an awesome one....just maybe no trophies for astartes is all

It depends on the trophies, the FW Ultramarines Venerable Dreadnought has the corpse of some Tyranid strung across its banner like an advertisement of what it has done in the last 5 minutes. Thinking of the nature of the badab war, it is likely that something like a partially dismembered space marine corpse to be attached so some offhanging parts of a vehicle, we are talking astartes against astartes are we not. The impaling would have to be done in moderation IMHO, since going too far with the impaled victims of a tank would cause it to look like a chaos vehicle.

Happiness is Mandatory!

Thats been the worry I think since Ice Angel mentioned it, impaled Nids or a Necron being ground under a tank tread ( A la' Terminator) would be fine but another Marine might not sit as well especially as at that point in the Badab war the Claws still thought of themselves as "good" or at least "not chaos"...still its Ice Angels models at the end of the day
