Thats actually pretty effective, very striking.

Can you post a pic with some marines around it so we can judge how their scheme works with the vehicles?

I would almost imaging the orange stripes on a brown color, but then again I think I am going back into my blank period of time where I was in college

Three of them will be off their bases, the rest will be grounded. I decided to wait to base them till the sarge is done. should be done today.

That looks very striking Ice, like it a lot.

I second Blackhands request for a shot with some of the marines to see the group effect.

Pic with a solid background... the rest below the glass is distracting. But it looks good to my eye!

I really like it!

The reveresed scheme breaks up the solid wall of orange and the black will give a better background if you want to put purity seals or 3D chapter symbols on there, good work

Very nice indeed Ice, the contrast between the two works very well whilst still retaining a coherency.

Thanks guys, it sounds like the orange stripes are in! I actually have been trying to take a picture of my tank/marines on my board so I can appease Git, but I can't seem to find any AA batteries for my camera so that'll have to wait. It looks like wednesday will be my next painting day, hopefully by then I'll have some batteries for some more pics.

Wow, all of you guys are putting my meagre attempts to shame... so envious of all of you
@Ice: Loving the black Rhino with the squad, works really well IMO. Also, could you tell me how you paint the grey casings on your bolters?
@SL: Those Assault Marines are stunning, the checks are fantastic!
Thumbs up to all of you!

Yeah, i feel like I'm copying and pasting the comments above. I think the contrast of colours is great and I'm loving the squad. the marine kneeling over the helmet is the stand out for me as I could see that pose just fits so well. gratz on the modelling as well as the painting.

The thing I find most thought provoking is the potential Siberian pattern chaplain. Something that simple whilst retaining such a strong sens of theme could simply be stunning. I guess my only concern would be how you my do an apothecary if you had one.

Really like the contrast Rhino. They work really well with each other. Awesomeness.

Is there really 14 guys in the squad?

Thanks Sandyman11, to answer your question the bolters are simply codex gray, a black wash, then highlighted with fortress gray. Nothing to fancy but I wanted them to be simple, the marines have enough flare in their armor.

Those look awesome Solar_lion, I can't wait to see all of our chapters next to each other they are going to look obnoxiously cool side by side, lol.

I hadn't really put that much thought into it yet, as of now I don't need a chaplain for my adepticon list, but afterwards I may make one just to paint one up. Maybe the apothecary could be the exact opposite of the chaplain, so one is white with black stripes and the other is black with white stripes, that could be interesting.

No, I have two tactical units one 10 man and the other 5 man, currently they are just hanging out together on the shelf.

Our executioner teammate, we'll call him...................... Steve, had a good suggestion for my rhino. Currently I just threw some orange stripes on there with a simple yellow highlight similar to how I highlight the black stripes on my marines, his suggestion was to highlight once more to make the stripes pop a bit more, he also suggested I have more forked stripes. Thoughts?

I like the stripes as they are but you never know how cool they could be until you try something different,

I especially like how the marines look as if they have torn through the rhino itself to get out, leaving big rents through to some orange dimension

I think more forked stripes would be awesome, buck the trend as it were
Slightly OT, but how do you highlight? Is it simply a line of the highlighting colour along the edge of whatever it is you are highlighting? Would love some help, as I've always just been too nervous to try out new techniques past drybrushing (Having said that, I wouldn't call myself a bad painter, I simply restrict myself to paint schemes that are very simple, yet give good-looking results ) Thanks in advance, and keep up the great work!

But paint the doors on top orange with the black claw

BBL has a nice suggestion. I like the idea of Forks, but too much and you lose the original effect. Maybe try it on one or 2 to start.

Hmmm, not so sure about that one. I think the doors on the top, if they were orange, would detract from the overall ambiance of the tank, unless the orange was a totally different shade from the stripes, instead I was thinking of painting a gray circle over the doors with the Astral Claw symbol in black on top of that. After painting the stripes I think I will be staying away from painting the chapter badge on the side doors, only the top doors and the front. I think the tanks shouldn't have any orange other then the stripes, but I may at least test your suggestion before completely ruling it out.

Did I just use ambiance and tank in the same sentence?

maybe use the grey from the bolters on parts of the tank to break away from the all black, and to make it seem less of jus the opposite scheme.
great blog and models by the way

I'm not sure if you have time for this with the deadline and all but imho the helmat with the shot eyehole would look even cooler with some more battle damage around the eye
