Got your last 3 packs set aside SL, you don't use the little control flaps do you? Don't remember seeing them on your models. I have them if you want them with the packs themselves.

Nope, I use them as is. One of the discharge vent was cracked and broke off. never to be seen again in the carpet.

No hurry, I still have plenty to work on.

I picked up some forgeworld doors and did some green stuff to try and make the icon look more like claws. This is my first attempt at doing greenstuff. Thoughts?



Here is my next batch of marines I'm working on. It's crazy to think I only have to complete these and then do four more and I'm done with the infantry. I've been putting off the tanks though, not entirely sure how I should stripe them yet.

Nice GS work Ice! Door is going to look just fine... Your troopers are looking good to. Can't wait to see all four of our armies in the same place at the same time!

I know right! I wasn't sure how to handle the door being smaller so I just went with it and attempted to try to minimize the difference, but as you can see, it didn't turn out perfect.

I just need to GS the other two doors and then do a bit O priming. Any one have any suggestions on adding anything to the land raider? I feel like it NEEDS something and I am not sure the paint job will suppress that feeling.

How about just reserving the striping to certain areas of the tank. You could divide it up. So for instance only the doors had the striping and the rest of the tank was another solid colour. Alternatively you could do the central body the tank in stripes and have the sides in another solid colour, maybe black.

One more to go for this squad + the sarge. Then I might go do a tank to break it up the painting and give me a break.

You could always make a plasticard armour panel over the old hole and cut a new hole for the door into it, you should be able to make a basic GS hinge without too many problems.

Okay, fourteen are done. Three have been built and are ready for painting. Only four more need to be put together.

While staring at my rhino and mulling over your suggestions I think I have finally decided how I want to paint my tanks. Once I start I'll have some WIP pics up for you all to see.

Still very early but I already like the pose, he will of course have an ax in his right hand.

As of right now they will be all orange with two rows of stripes that will go down the length of the tank on the top edges, I will paint on the Astral Claw on the side doors in black. On the landraider I am not 100% sold on how to paint the door symbols. The gauntlet will be of course black but all of the other stuff might be gray, or black as well. Not sure yet on that part. I'm going to start with the rhino, then razorback, hopefully by the time i get to the raider I'll know which route to go.

I am also thinking that the stripes will be much larger, I don't want to have a ton of little stripes but a handful of larger ones that stretch maybe half way down the side of the tank and almost reach the center of the tank on top.

Thoughts?

Hmm, yeah could work. As stupid as this sounds I would break out the crayons. Draw a couple of 3d boxes and roughly pencil in a few different schemes, so half stripes, full stripes also food for thought but how about reversing the scheme so orange strips on a black field?

Hmmmmm, orange stripes. That's a thought. I may try that.

I was actually thinking of buying a chaplain (not for adepticon) and painting him black with white stripes, how cool would that look?!

That would look pretty sick or paint him like a Siberian Tiger, White with the black stripes?

I'm rubbish at visualising things so its difficult to go yeah, go with that kind of scheme.

Maybe consider getting some of the tape offered by Lauer custom weaponry and tape it off. They have precut patterns cut into painters tape to use on larger things (like AR15s) that would work well on SM vehicles. Also fading to white on the bottom might be cool.

But seriously, I appreciate all the ideas. I am all about the visualizing before I move forward. That's why I have a P&M blog. Keep the ideas coming, I am seriously thinking about the black tanks with orange stripes. Less paint to mix as well! The only down side is that I don't know how well that would look next to my marines. I'll have to ponder it a bit, maybe paint a stripe or two orange and if I don't like it then just painting the rest of the tank orange, lol.

Opposite paint might be cool for Veterans. Something like a Death company, or even just specialists like Deathwing or Ravenwing.

I do not particularly care for his paint job, but I do have a better idea what we're going for. I will definitely paint some stripes on my tank and give that idea a shot, it is worth the attempt.

I like the guys Solar_lion, I think when you base them it will really make the model. FYI, yellow models do not look good on a blue/white ice world table. I know first hand.

Yeah you never know. Some of the coolest effects are often not planned anyway.

They look great SL! Very crisp with dynamic poses... How are you going to handle their bases?
