Woot! I like 'em. A combination of a shading wash and a light highlight of the peaks of the cloth with a brighter color really makes the minis pop on the tabletop!

OK. I am VERY pleased to announce that the Cadians are now 100% finished! Every last one of 'em! Below is a group shot, as well as some close-ups of some of the special characters w/in the mass and a close-up showing the backpack & canteen of one of the Guardsmen. Hope that everyone approves. This weekend will be the start of the Wraithguard (completing #9 & 10 of squad one, and starting the 10 for squad 2). Searth, I'm DEFINITELY going to get the Wraithseer from GW - just don't know how soon! It rocks! Have a great weekend, everyone.

Have to be honest - I'm torn between going to MechaniCon for the KT tourneys & to get a chance to see a GT in action (and to play against & meet other gamers) and staying home to paint the Wraithguard. At least I've started on them with first coat of Gunmetal Grey on the back fins. My guess is that the next photo I post after this one will be all of them completed, and then a group shot. Will do the Eye of Isha on the heads of the new squad (need to be able to keep the two squads separate, so it's this or put a red ring around the bases of the new squad - which I don't think will look all that great). Will get in a coat of paint on the Wraithcannons (after I find the bases which I misplaced), and then will probably be off to MechaniCon...

Go to MC, just to watch the spectacle, if nothing else.

Drat. Just checked my bank account - will NOT be able to go to MechaniCon (no money for gas to get down & back). So much for my ticket I bought last month. Have to wait until the 12th for my next paycheck, and next year for the Berks Spring Assault for the next tourney. Now I'll be sitting here grumbling, pouting & painting the Wraithguard all day long. Oh well, at least the painting will put me in a better mood; may even start working on the Vyper...

Wraithguard are coming along nicely. Have the base done for all the Wraithcannons, as well as the base black for 7 of the bodies. Silver's on the rear fins as well. Just need to do some shading on the black arms/legs/bodies, then do a few layers of Bonewhite on the heads & arm/leg bits/tabards. Then some hilighting, a wash on the weapons, and they'll be done with exception of gems & hand-drawing the Eye of Isha & infinity symbol on the tabards/heads. Not much longer!

Almost done (my guess is ~80% there). Just have hilights/lowlights & gems to finish, then final wash. Hurrah! Now all I need will be an Apoc game that I can use them all in. Next up: either the Vyper or the 5 extra Warp Spiders...

You sure you don't wanna play Craftworld iyanden instead with all those Wraithlords and wraithguards. Would have worked better fluff wise.

Also, these guys will never make it in Apocalypse. You'll need proper firepower.

I'm not sure how regular Apoc games run - the one I played in July let me bring EVERYTHING I had for the battle. Was glorious. I'd just love to run 20 Wraithguard with my 5 Wraithlords along with Yriel. As for the fluff, I figured out that I'd simply say that Yriel was simply hanging out on Ulthwe when he wasn't on Iyanden. I'm glad I've got the Ulthwe craftworld, as I like the psyker stuff, Searth. One of the unilts I'll be working on is a 7-10 man strong Seer Council on jetbikes. That's going to take me a while, as I've got to get all the bits & bikes. I'm not good (yet) on doing conversions, unlike yourself, so it's been on the back burner. Hoping that the next Codex in 2012 will have some fantastic improvements, and I'm gonna get that Wraithseer from Forge World - hopefully for Christmas!

Wraithguard are VERY near completion. Have the bases done for all the gems; just have 2 more light coats on gems plus hilights, then shadow wash on tabards, then dark wash over weapons & back fins. Last step will be adding on the hand-drawn designs on head pieces & tabards. Think I'll have them done this weekend! Mwahahaha...

Nearly done! Just finished the gems. Last wash will be applied this morning (black on weapons & head pieces), then spray varnish, then take my time doing the hand drawing for Eye of Isha & infinity symbols. Trying to get some of these lovelies finished so that I can use them for a game this afternoon - at least I'll be able to get the heads glued on & useable after the wraithcannons are done. Expect another pic tomorrow with varnished Wraithguard minus the hand drawn bits; next pic of these guys after that will be the group shot of all 20 with the 5 Wraithlords and Prince Yriel! All in Ulthwe colors because Yriel wanted to hang out with the cool people on Ulthwe for a while...

They're practically done! Just had to do the hand-drawn work on the tabards & head pieces. Here they are in their near-finished glory. Will be gaming this afternoon, so the final pic won't be done until sometime this week but next pic posted will be of the gang of 20. Had a good game yesterday against a GK player - managed to go 5 turns w/o getting tabled. Got a great idea to try for next few games, but will need to get another 2 squads of DA's in addition to another Serpent or two before I can really utilize it. Never thought I'd have a mech army, and here I am already with 5 skimmers!

Will be starting a new project this week - FLGS will have me start painting battle sets of either 40K or Fantasy. Don't know what they'll want me to start on, but I'm looking forward to the challenge. Will also have my Spiders & the new Vyper to fit in there as well. Stay tuned!

I am proud to announce the completion of Wraithguard Unit A & Wraithguard Unit B. Pics of both are below - 10 models per unit, so I've got my troop choices now! No more proxying! Mwahahaha. Also below is a pic of both units with all my Wraithlords, Yriel & Eldrad. Hope you all approve. Remember when I was asking where I should place the Eye of Isha - head or tabard? Vote was pretty close, so I switched to the head for the newer group so that folks can keep the two units separate on the table if both are in play at the same time. Don't know how often that will happen, as that would be 700 points just for the Wraithguard - and they'd have Eldrad in the center of them, so that would push us >900 points right there. But such lovely troop choices, and not squishy! Now all I need is the Wraithseer. One of these days I'll have them set up to use as a central cog of a foot list...

True their not squishy, but their range is pretty crappy. If you end up meeting a plasma army ur screwed my friend. also, the wraith units are pretty expensive pointwise and need to be organised pretty well on the field. Be careful with them and good work on getting soo many of them! 20 wraithguards are like 302,00 USD. thats alot of money for 20 guys

Searth, the sick thing is that I only paid for 8 of them - the rest were molded by a friend of mine who's brilliant with minis & molds! I doubt I'll use all of them at once except in an Apoc game, but I used one of the squads this past weekend and they held up quite well. If I remember correctly, they even took out Grand Master Mordrak, and were a VERY tough meat shield protecting my Dragons - which then proceeded to remove half of my opponent's Paladin squad... ...and they just look cool! Mwahahahaha

Was just up at my FLGS last night - army had a romp against the new Necrons (thanks, Paul). Made it through 5 rounds w/o getting tabled. Unfortunately Wraithguard Unit A got tied up with a gang of scarabs for 4 rounds before they could do any shooting. I need to work on better deployment & which armies I can use them against. Spoke to the new owner of the store - he gave me a choice between the box sets for high elves or orks. Upon recommendations of friends, I'm gonna go for the orks. Will be getting the box next week and starting soon thereafter; until then I've got bits to mold to make my second Vyper and some jetbike parts, then need to start painting them - along with the 5 Spiders I still have to paint. Will be sticking with the Spiderman theme I did with the first 5; hopefully the painting will have improved since I did the original 5. One of my FB buddies also suggested I use a Thrakka green wash on my Pathfinders and a Baal red wash on Eldrad & Farseer; will probably play around with those as well. 5 new Warp Spiders are now ready to join their brethren, brings me up to a total of 10! I definitely think the current paint job, though modeled on the ones from last spring, is better - though granted not as colorful as they could be. Am happy with how the spinners turned out. If anyone wants to see a pic of one of the new ones next to the old one, let me know. Also did the Baal Red wash on the psyker robes (didn't see much of a difference) and a combination of Thrakka Green & Devlan Mud on my older Pathfinders. Think I like the effect. Again, will post pics if anyone wants to see them. Next up on the list will be the Ork battle box set - think that's what the FLGS had wanted me to do. Otherwise I'd be doing the Fantasy High Elf set, which is probably too similar to what I've been doing the past year. Need to spread out a little more with the variety. Putting the Vyper on hold for a little while, as I'm trying to mold some parts to complete another one I got parts for; then will be able to prime & paint those two as well. Great looking spiders. The lines on their backs are very tidy. I'm impressed. I can't do that. Trying to paint lines on the sails of my HE Dreadfleet ship and the damn things are just going every which way. Good work.

Hello, everybody, and sorry I haven't posted in a few weeks! I'm in a lull right now with the painting. Started a new squad of DA's (WIP pic posted below), am nearly done with the gemstones and then will only need to do washes & they'll be finished. Think they'll look MUCH better than the first 2 squads I did early last year. Continuing with the Ulthwe colors. Once I'm done with the DA's will be starting on the Orks & SM's (battle box set) for my FLGS; still have some jetbikes and Vypers to do as well. I am sure I'll have the finished DA's posted next week some time. Hope everyone has a merry Christmas this weekend! Take care, and hope everyone gets their 40K goodies they want...

New squad of DA's is now complete, see below. I think they're WAY better than the 2 squads I had done earlier in the year (think they're on page 1 or 2 of this blog). Next on my list is the Orks & SM's I'm doing for our FLGS (yes, I'm getting paid to do them). Don't know how soon I'll be posting pics, but they WILL be coming sooner or later! Hope everyone had a good 2011, and I wish for all of you a healthy, productive, and safe 2012.
