Just got a few pics from someone who was at the birthday party last weekend, so more Trukk pics are below. Hopefully I'll get some soon that have better resolution of the details (i.e., wrecking ball chain mechanism). Remember that this WHOLE THING WAS EDIBLE!!! Too bad no nephews play IG's - the Leman Russ would be SO much easier to do as a cake! Am probably going to do Lord Asurman tomorrow, and MAY start working on the Scorpies after he's finished. Am having trouble with one of my Harlies - one who's leaping off a rock, and I can't get his feet to stay glued on the rock part. Am hoping I won't have to drill his feet & the rock to pin him on there. Anyone who has suggestions, PLEASE let me know; may post a question about this one elsewhere... Happy Easter, everyone!

Lord Asurman is FINISHED! Pic is below. Was pretty hard to NOT use the gory red for the cape. Just trying to figure out who's going to be next - will either start the Scorpies (will use some green on them for aspect color) or one unit of my Banshees. Hope everyone is having a GREAT weekend!

Update. I decided on doing the Banshees - and am NOT happy with how things are going. Got the weapons pretty much done, but knew I was going to have problems with the armor - especially since I have to make the Bleached Bone from combo of 3 other paints (until I get some from WarStore - just ordered). I'm also going to need a REALLY strong light and magnifier, since the details needed for the old-style Banshees are plain sick. Decided to use Vallejo Sick Green for the tabards - will try to modify color so it's a little lighter (my homage to aspect colors). Hair's going to be hilighted with Gory Red. Possibility that the unit will be finished over next weekend, but I'm also going to assemble another unit of the girls I have in case it will be easier to paint them (new unit).

Only things I've got left to paint are the 2nd unit of Banshees, a unit of Scorpions, and about a dozen Harlies. Obviously I'm saving them until last because they're going to be such a bloody pain-in-the-you-know-where to try to paint (and paint well). Who knows, may even buy some other minis to avoid painting the Harlies! LOL

...continuing saga of the Banshees (first unit). See pic below. Was trying to do the painting based on the recommendations on the Games Workshop site (article). Took a break to start assembling the second unit from the box (first unit was bought used, stripped and re-primed); saw that the painting (pic on box) was WAY different, and started painting the girls' armor all over again. At least now I have the Vallejo Bonewhite, instead if having to mix my own. May or may not get the first unit finished this weekend, check back later. At least I've got the swords done (except for the gems)...

OK, need some help. Am also posting a threat on the P&M question site. I'm not too happy with how the girls are looking now - am NOT really liking the green tabards, given that I'd wanted to do the red gems and Gory Red hair with Fire Orange hilights. They'll look like bloody Christmas trees if I do this! I'm not wanting to do the blue gems because then the girls won't fit in with the color scheme of the rest of the army. Suggestions needed - keep the tabards green & switch the gem & hair color, or repaint the tabards gory red & keep the color scheme for the entire army? I need input! Thanks!

Had a great suggestion from someone under a different post - tabards now painted black. Did some soft Dark Grey hilights on them. Started working on the hair - so far a few layers of graded black & gory red, will let dry and then start doing just the simple hilights with the gory red (WIP pic below). Next will be the stuff around the waist, then gems, then wash with the black. Should possibly be done with this unit this afternoon, will have pics posted later!

Update. Girls aren't completely done - still have to do washes and some touch-up work. Should be done either tomorrow morning or next weekend, so watch for final pic (will base them before I post the completed pics). Next project will be either the next unit of Banshees (now that I've gotten the paint scheme worked out) or the Scorpions. Have a great week, everyone!

First unit of Ulthwe Banshees are FINISHED!!! Happy happy joy joy! Will start working on the new unit either tonight or tomorrow. Forgot that I still have another unit of Guardians to be done - but they have quite a few arms that have to be fixed before I can do anything with them. At some point will probably get some putty to use to fix them - otherwise they're doomed to sit in a bag. Also have a unit of Scorpies to do, and two units of Harlies (one old unit, one brand new unit) - for obvious reasons these will be left to do until last. Heck, I may even decide to clean my house first (that's how much I'm NOT looking forward to doing the Harlies). Am hoping that I'll have a chance to use all of these minis in the near future - haven't played a game in months now, and am hoping that I'm not forgetting any of the subtleties of gaming with the Eldar since I've been so focused on painting for what, 5 months now? Oh well. First picture is of the entire unit, second pic is of three of the girls - easier to get the details on them. May update tomorrow, but more likely will not be posting again until next weekend. Take care, everyone!

Sorry, got a little behind this weekend with painting. Still working on second unit of Banshees (new ones). Think I'll get them done sometime this week, and then hopefully will get Lord Jain Z. completed next weekend, assuming I can get her triskele glued on better. Hey, folks! Hope everyone out there had a great week. I finished the new unit of Banshees - below is a fairly good pic of them. The exarch isn't included with them, as I was having trouble with the lighting when she was with the rest of them - so her pic is separate. Found out that I actually have someone ELSE who needs to be painted as well - I'd forgotten that I have Prince Yriel! So that leaves me with him, the Scorpies, and 2 units of Harlies to paint up (in addition to the unit of Guardians, should their arms ever get fixed) after I finish with Jain Zar. She's going to be a tough one to finish - had to strip her previous paint job, and she's got tons of cracks & crevices I'm trying to paint. Will be a very similar paint job to the Banshees, but I'm trying to figure out if I can come up with a good green color to use on the tabards instead of using the plain black. I don't have the color that GW lists on their site for the Banshees, unfortunately - only have snot green and a medium olive. Hopefully will be able to get a game in tomorrow (FINALLY) - found a place near home that does 40k, don't know how much they've done against Eldar. The one guy has Nids, Chaos Marines & Grey Wolves. I pray that they'll be gentle on my noob self! Will try to get Zar finished by end of the weekend & get her pic posted. Thanks for reading!

Here ya go, everybody - Jain Zar's done! Kept her with primarily Ulthwe colors but gave her the green tabard that I felt she really SHOULD have. Put a little of the green on the triskele, too. Next up will be the Scorpions, but may have to get some more paint before I really get into them... May post an update this weekend. Game was postponed - hopefully I'll be able to go over to the store this aftenroon for a game. We'll see whether or not my record changes at all from W/D/L of 0/0/7!

Had a 1500 point game tonight against Nids (3 units of 30 Gaunts each, 10 Warriors with an alpha, 2 Carnifexes, and a Hive Tyrant) - was a spearhead capture & control. Ended up in a draw after 5 rounds. Yay! A game I didn't lose for the first time ever! Learned a lot. Used the Scorpions for the first time, even though they aren't completely painted. Had the following list:

Scorpion unit is now done. I was going to try to do more of the aspect colors, but ended up reverting back to Ulthwe with some aspect details (Scorpion green on the armor plates on shooulders, as well as on boot ridges). I'm happy with the results, especially the fade from the black on boots up to the bone whilte on the torso. Did my own mix of colors to get the brass coloring as well - base was Vallejo's New Gold, with slight tinting of Gory Red & Charred Brown. Pics are of the whole unit, one of the exarch, and also one of Eldrad (who is now based). Have to get some Green Stuff before I fix the Guardian unit, and also have to get a special blue to do Prince Yriel. Again, I'm doing anything to avoid working on the Harlies, but I may start working on one of the older ones to just play with some ideas! Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day here in the States.

Had a game yesterday - paired up with the guy that has been teaching me, we had 1500 points each against 2 other guys. Interesting mix - our team had my Eldar and Chaos Marines, the other team had Tau & Necrons. The bloody Monolith took FOREVER to get rid of - thank goodness in the 6th round the Monolith finally disappeared along with the remaining warriors. All I had that was even getting CLOSE to penetrating was the krak missiles & BL's on my Wraithlords. The Chaos guy had some really good guns he was using - I don't remember what they were, but even HE wasn't able to penetrate the thing. Pic below is of the Monolith jammed inside the building where my Pathfinders were - and the Necron guy managed to transport ~6 guys from his one remaining squad into the building behind my Pathfinders (pic below - notice the lonely little Warlock on left side after the Guardian squad was annihilated). Thank GOODNESS for my Scorpions - they were closeby and made a nice tasty lunch of the warriors. Claw didn't do squat against the Monolith. We won middle of round 6 - how does that count for W/D/L record? Can I finally count one as a win (hope hope hope)? I was seriously impressed with the Chaos army - once I have my Eldar tricked out as good as I can get them, I may start working on a Chaos army. They were absolutely SICK. I was using the army list that I think I posted before, and at end of the game I had left: Avatar, 1 Walker, 2 Wraithlords, 4 Scorpions, 5 Pathfinders, 5 DA's, 1 Serpent, & 3 JetBikes. SL's with the Guardian Squad & on the Walkers did a nice job against 5 squads of Tau warriors. Managed to cut them back enough & then they failed their Leadership checks. Think I could have been a bit more aggressive, but I was keeping most of my army back & shooting - let the Chaos guy press the field. We ended up with 3 out of 4 objectives, and my DA's were VERY close to the 4th w/o anyone to hold them back (was abandoned by the Necrons). Need advice from ANYONE out there as to who/what to use against the Monolith should I go 1-to-1 against the player in the future. Didn't roll any bloody 6's when I needed them with the BL or krak missiles. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Painting stuff. I'll be getting some green stuff next week, and will be able to finish up the 2nd unit of Guardians. Ordered a few more paints (Vallejo) for Prince Yriel and for the Harlies. Will be using complementary colors, but REALLY wish I could find a waterproof black ink & fine tip pen I could use to do the outlines for the diamond patterns & stripes. Have all the skin done on my old unit of Harlies, and I may start working on some of the weaponry this weekend as well. Have a great weekend, everybody!

Am almost finished with the first Harlequin - am waiting for my Falcon Turquoise paint to arrive so that I can do the hilights on the hair. After I get that done I'll get him based, and will then have at least ONE Harlie completed! Obviously I was too timid to try the diamond pattern, so did the stripes on the cloak instead. Not sure when the Turquoise will come in, so not sure when I'll get him completed & pics posted. Will be getting some Green Stuff tomorrow, so will also be able to work on my 2nd Guardian squad this weekend as well. Comments on the first Harlie, anyone?

Yay! Falcon Turquoise arrived today, so I was able to finish up the first Harlequin (and get him based). Pics below. Also got my green stuff to start working on the 2nd unit of Guardians - may be 1-2 weeks before I get them painted & posted, but I'll also try to do one Harlequin a week. May be doing an Apocolypse game in ~3 weeks - have ~3500 points (only have to get 2 units of Harlies painted and they're all painted then) to field!

Second Harlequin now finished. Will probably be working on either Shadowseer or Death Jester next - was advised to use more subdued color scheme for Shadowseer, and I'll be keeping more with black/gold/red scheme for Death Jester. Hopefully will get one more finished next weekend & post pic. Comments would really be appreciated on everything thus far! Thanks for following the blog, and have a great week!

Death Jester is finished - kept to red/black theme with gold & silver. Used a little bit of Scorpion Green for accents. Have three more, including Shadowseer, to do yet on the old-style unit of Harlies; not sure if I'll get a chance to do any painting on the Shadowseer next week or not. First things first, count the battle when you teamed with chaos as a win! I played a 800 point battle 2 weeks ago (2k my marines + 2k nids vs marines/DE) and I take that as a win!

Not a fan of the scorpion green on the jester myself. I think it may look better being all red. Paint looks a bit thicker on it as well for some reason. May be the camera or the gold paint. I always have trouble with gold paint!

Gad to see your still churning the models out and making good use of them! How are you finding battling with the newer models?

"Churning" out the minis is a good description! I think that once I'm done with the current unit of Harlies (the older models), I'll put the Guardian squad's arms on them & get them painted up. I don't want to have them going to battle w/o their arms on for the upcoming Apocolypse game in a few weeks. Also need to get Yriel together for that, come to think of it. I wanted to do a little of the green for the Jester just to give him a touch of Harlie whimsy. Not sure why the paint looks thick - other than for the fact that they're the old models, and I know that it's fairly impossible to get the paint to look good on them! Started working on the Shadowseer, and have gotten some good suggestions for the paint scheme on him - will get a chance to work on him next weekend for a little bit. He'll be with a blue/purple scheme with silver. Cool colors. I think that I'll be more ready for the new Harlie squad after I'm done with this set - they seem to be about 50% bigger physically, which will be a great help.

They've been doing pretty well for me since they're painted, come to think of it - haven't lost a game since I've been playing with all painted minis on the field! I've determined that one of my Wraithlords really doesn't like me though - always gets a 1 when I roll for the BL, and a 2 when I roll for the EML (have had a few surprise higher rolls). Hasn't died yet, though! I'm really looking forward to the Apocolypse game in a few weeks - I've got >3500 points that should be 95% painted by the time we go to battle. Will definitely post some pics of that - from what I hear we'll have 4 tables going with bridges between them, we'll be deployed on multiple tables, and one of the guys has a huge Titan he's hoping to complete in time. Yowza.

The Eldar titans look better than a centre fold in my bed room. I've seen some people adapt models from Gundam Wing with reasonable success if you were considering following suit in some way.

Really look forward to seeing this big battle of yours. Your going to have to take a lot of photos!

Home early today, was able to finish up the Shadowseer. First attempt at an obvious diamond/checker pattern! Kept the other bits in subdued gray shades. 5th Harlequin has been started - stripes & polka-dots, sorta clashing. MAY get the pic posted Sunday if he's finished in time. Will be finishing the older troupe of Harlies, then will do Prince Yriel, then the Guardian squad, then the last (newer) troupe of Harlies. At that point, I'm gonna have to buy more minis so I have something to paint! Hmmmm...

Um, got finished with the 5th Harlie sooner than I thought I would! Taking longer study breaks than I'd planned on. More garish in the colors this time, next one will also be a bit more garish...

OK, so I was working on the last Harlie and my study breaks got longer & longer... Unit is now completed! Pics below are of the last Harlie, as well as the unit all together. As I stated previously, next up will be the Guardian unit that needs to be reassembled with the arms in proper position (thank you Green Stuff), then Prince Yriel, and then the last unit of Harlies (new minis). Uh, I hate to admit it, folks, but I found another old model Harlie. This one's a female, and again I took too many study breaks to work on her. She's almost done, so picture will be posted mid-week, and will also do another picture (hopefully with better lighting) of the entire troupe which now will number SEVEN.
