My friend and I decided to play a 1500 game in preparation for the Warpcon tournament. I was sick of running my battlewagon list so I decided to bring a dredd mob.

His list:

We rolled annihilation mission with a pitched battle deployment. I won the roll and brimming with hubris I decided to go first. I deployed the SAG mekk with the ablative grots in a tall ruin. On the left of this ruin I placed the three rokkit kans and a mob of boyz; on the right I placed everything else.


My hope was that the SAG would be protected from a flank attack and the two arms of the force could come together in front of the ruin.
The Eldar decided to cower in the corner. Predictable enough I concluded, and reasonable given that the space elfs are T3!



Turn 1
The game starts and my orks surge forward. The Mek with the SAG targets the seer council and rolls...a 13!!! A huge shuggoth is summoned onto the table in the midst of my army!


We quickly beat the shuggoth to death with fire extinguishers and the game continued. The rokkit kans shot T1 and they merely shook a wave serpent. The SAG reloads and kills one warlock with a well placed shot. Good job Shokk Attack Gun!

The Eldar, as was expected of timid space elfs, move foward a few inches and blast away at the rokkit kans. Surprisingly the bastards wreck two of the cute little dreadnoughts!


Turn 2
The orks continue their march forward. The remaining rokkit kan shoots and misses; the SAG targets the seer council again, rolls a 2,6, and then scatters off the table. I burn the ammo runt and scatter off target again. Bad shokk attack gun! No matter, though, the tide is coming in!




Unbeknownst to the Orks, the Eldar have a clever plan. They really are inscrutable bastards! The wave serpent carrying the banshees moves 24" and lands behind my lines next to the ruin containing my gretchin and SAG mek! To make matters worse, there are two wrecked kans that impede movement towards this new threat. The bastards!


Five fire dragons deploy from a wave serpent and lay into the grotzooka kans. Four hit with their weapons, the KFF makes three saves, and the remaining hit wrecks a kan.



The cunning space elf seer council blasts the left mob of the orks (the one closest to the banshee serpent) and then charge. Seventeen orks die from shooting and the assault while only one warlock is killed to death.


Turn 3
The Big Mek with the SAG gun decides to run for it. He orders the grots to move forward to impede any assault by the banshees. Unfortunately the Big Mek is at the top of the tall tower it will take several turns for him to carry his cumbersome weapon downstairs. Every other ork moves and runs to hit the seer council. Simple Jack the deff dredd was particularly eager:


Shooting sees the grotzooka kans obliterate the fire dragons, while the KMB kans manage to wreck the fire dragon wave serpent. Nice!


A second ork mob makes it into combat with the seer council but only a few boyz will be swinging. The assault results in one more dead warlock and a few more dead orks.



The Eldar than proceed to wreak havoc. Two wave serpents blast and kill the big mek before he can defenestrate himself. The banshees consider eliminating the gretchin but decide to join the scrum with the seer council. One full mob of boyz has been eliminated in this meatgrinder and the recently arrived mob is down to about twenty or so.



Turn 4
My third and final boyz mob along with the KMB kans, simple jack the deff dredd, and my two remaining grotzooka kans all run towards the seer council scrum. The assault phase results in two wounds on the farseer and a few more dead orks.

The Eldar blast at some kans and simple jack. Simple jack loses both his dccw! In the assault phase the eldar reduce the second boyz mob to a modest size, but the boyz remain locked in combat

Turn 5
Two killa kans and simple jack charge into combat. The banshees eliminate the remnants of the second boyz mob before being munched by the dreadnoughts.

The wave serpents blast at the gretchin who promptly go to ground and suffer only acceptable loses.

The game continues...

Turn 6
One warlock and the farseer remain in combat with two kans and simple jack. My third and final boyz mob finally makes it into the assault and puts 12 wounds on the farseer. He rolls his 3+ save and fails six. He picks up the six fails, rerolls, and saves them all. Bastard! Poor simple jack the deff dredd is then rudely dispatched with a witchblade...

The game ends: Eldar have 6 KP and the Orks have 3 KP. A decisive victory for the eldar.

Good looking match, though pink kans and purple/pink eldar makes me cry a little on the inside.

Be honest, my pink kans and deff dredd are WAY more styling than purple space elfs!

It looks like you have your boys spread out as far as possible from each other instead of...I won't say clustered up, but in tighter formations to get across the field in a way to offer mutual support to each other?

I'm not sure about this but I always removed wreaked walkers from play since they fight like infantry?
Maybe I've been doing this wrong? But I'm sure most people remove dreads etc from the game when dead.

Panic...

Dreads are still vehicles, they create craters when exploded and are wrecks when they are wrecked. They follow some of the rules from infantry, but being removed is not one of them, as it does not state that this happens.

At first glance, the bikes look like feet and the way the wings hunch over made it look like some crazy walker.

Purple Eldar rock! They should be somewhat pretty and cute, otherwise they just look like someone dressed their 7 year old brother up in mean clothes.

Also, saying "basterds" a lot with Orks seems to work well. Ha.

Add a conclusion at the end to wrap things up. Best army reports have them.

Nice report, very concise and specific. Ahhhhhhhhhhh cats, the biggest enemy of any warhammer game since the begining of time.

The part with the cat was hilarious. However, I would argue that curious 5-year-olds are worse. They seem to really like my star dragon.
