So back in November here in SoCal the Los Angeles battle bunker hosted an event that they called, "Tanks Giving." and as a promotion for the event, if you bought a tank in the last month and brought your receipt in to a GW retail store, they would give you a custom Games Workshop "rending die" or "bunker buster die" which is basically just a heavy orange die with an image of a large tank where the 6 should be.

They decreed that when ever these dice are used in a games workshop retail store, these dice ALWAYS give any wound/penetration roll they are used for the rending property. That's right. Rending lasguns, rending bolters, shootas, rending powerfists, you name it. The decreed that the shops are obligated to allow this kind of shenanigans. If you walk into a GW and pull out these dice, anyone that agrees to play with you is obligated to comply with this.

That being said, we have an "aspie" at our store with too much money who went and bought himself 15 tanks and got himself 15 rending dice so his fire warriors can toast what ever they shoot at, GEQ, MEQ, or tank. And then he throws a temper tantrum when nobody agrees to play with him.

All I can really do is look at the store manager and redshirt and ask them what the company was thinking (Other then, "LETS SELL MOAR TANKS HURF DURF") When they came up with this.

Did this hit anywhere else? Or is this a Kalifornistan thing?

This is why we game at independent shops or with your own group. I don't game at GWs anymore.

I am a proud citizen of Kalifornistan, but I've never heard of these rending dice. (Probably because you live in SoKalinazifornistan, not NorKaliawesomeifornistan.) That's complete BS.

Can we get pics of these dice? sounds like I would like some of these dice for when I am actually rolling for a model with rendering

Wow just ... wow. Coming from someone with aspergers thats just someone being an ass and using a rule that was badly thought out and obviously unfair. And cheesy. Plus gives anyone else with that condition a horrible reputation among those who encounter this guy using this excuse.

I registered on Dakka just to make this post. I live in Souther California too and I play in the Portola Store. There is a guy at our store who has 10 and he plays Tau. He plays with 70 fire warriors and always uses the rending dice. He absolutly obliterates everything with them. I'm not going to play him anymore because it just isn't fun. I know the 40k rules aren't the most balanced and every army has cheesy tactics, but this is just stupid. I'm waiting for when a Games day roles around and someone tries to play with them in a tournament against an opponent who has never heard of them before.

Well then, they should just make me a lead brick with the picture of my opponent on it to throw at them, instead of beating the army, I'll just kill my opponent. Obviously sales will go through the roof, and the amount of people rushing into the stores. Then after so many years they will convert these lead bricks to the less effective plastic bricks. Of course ten years in the future we will have a thread talking about this and conversing about the good ol' days of lead bricks and squats.

Oh yes I want these rending dice just to be slowed.

I have searched for 20 min for these rending dice and found nothing. If you can post pics it would be nice. I would pay a hefty price for some of these for my lootas to use.
