Hey everyone, I'm working on my first army. I'm very new to 40K, I'm not a modeler or a painter. I know these things don't look nearly as good as most of the armies on here. I have a lot of work to do still. There's some paint where it's not supposed to be and you can still see some mold lines. Obviously I'm not finished, still need to do some detailing, but what do you guys think so far?

Also, I'm still kicking around a name for this army, so far I'm thinking maybe The SlobberKnockers. Any ideas?

Those look exceptional! i've always loved the viva metallica style. your on a great start so far, just add some more detail to them and base them and you've got yourself army!

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

Wow! Excellent start. The color and the wash makes them look almost jade, or oxidized copper. You could call them the Jade (blank) or the (blank) of Liberty (Like the statue).

But its all up to you. Looks good.

Awesome. Just awesome. My first army is nowhere near as good. Good luck and keep up the good work!

"Give me a gun, a google-eyed alien to shoot it at, and I’ll die a happy man." - Guardsman Franx, 13th Penal Legion AKA Schaeffer's Last Chancers.

This is my lasgun. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My lasgun is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my lasgun is useless. Without my lasgun, I am useless. I must fire my lasgun true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy, who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. Before The Emperor I swear this creed: my lasgun and myself are defenders of the Imperium, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.

Really nice. My first army looked liked bloated puff balls with guns instead of space marines. I like the green with gold trim not something you really see but goes well together.

If I ever committed to my Dawn of War 2 SM color scheme (The Jade Falcons, <3Battletech) those are exactly what I'd want them to look like.

Very regal looking. Nice job.

Man, I've been working on these guys so hard. I got home from work and the freaking dog chewed up 2 of my Termies and my Ork Warboss. I have the AoBR and now I'm short 2 termies and a warboss! Freaking blows!

Ok, I've gotten a little farther on my army. I have my Tac Squad pretty much done. Still want to do a little more to them like drilling the barrels and white in the eyes and stuff. Still need to base them too. I did start my Termies though. Not finished, but I thought I'd post what I've done so far. I've definitely noticed my quality is getting a lot better from just these few models. I've also painted the inside of my Land Raider, I'll get some pics of it. These things look REALLY nice in person, I was pretty proud of them.... until I took pictures. Man, they look pretty rough in the pics. I picked some out that didn't make my painting look too bad.

Now, remember when you're critiquing me, This is my first time, so be gentle.

Also, I think I've come up with a suitable name, The Emerald Wrath of Doom. How does that sound?

Let me know what you think.

These look awesome! My first marine army was total crap compared to this. I would suggest using a badab black, devlan mud, or gryphone sepia wash on the gold followed by a very light highlight of shining or burnished gold. When I did my Salamanders (found here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/280456.page ) I used a lot of gold, and I painted it shining gold washed with badab black with a VERY light shining gold highlight or no highlight at all. I also suggest washing the metal on the bolters with some badab black. An accent color you may want to try is warlock purple washed with leviathan purple on some of the terminators cables and accent the models with a few bleached bone skulls washed with devlan mud (this will make your models seem less monotone).

As far as the name goes I would go with Emerald Wrath or Emerald Doom but not a combo of both. Looks really good though keep us posted!

I like your guys they look very good and its a cool paint scheeme altough I would go over the silver with badab black to bring out the detail in your bolters.

Excellent start. Nice limited color pallet.

I'd bring in some highlights. Take a look at your first couple of pictures and see where the light hits the figures and put them in there. Warm lighter green (more yellow) and a brighter gold would be perfect.

The name you chose doesn't fit marines- that's an ork name.

Wonderful paint job. Your first try is far superior to my every try.

That being said, I grew up in a town where your color scheme is incredibly prevalent. I had to suppress a shudder. Bloody football religions...
