Just unfortunately (for friends, other hobbies, and my Vitamin D levels) just got back into Fallout 3 with a vengeance.
I'm also pretty stoked for New Vegas, the hotly undisclosed and undetailed 'non-sequel-sequel' sequel to 3.
Wondering what the good folk of Dakka would like to see in it?

Honestly, I'd be much happier if NV was just another expansion, but one that was the same size as FO3. that way, I can keep all my sweet FO3 mods, AND play through a new story
I'm looking forward to NV nonetheless, but I won't be picking it up until it's got a strong mod community following.

I still haven't played Fallout 3 yet. Been too busy with Dragon Age: Origins. It seems to be fairly expensive in local stores as well... pre-owned it was $50 and new it was $85. Nuts.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Fallout 3 is too addictive
Ment to be going through the DLC's, but only just done Anchorage.
Spent too long hunting down the are and 1 of a kind items.
Not to mention hunting down all locations and behemoths.
All in all, i would have paid double to buy the game if i had to
Cheese: I brought DAO, played it for an hour then went back to MW2 lol, just found it boring as hell.

I'm sure it's awesome to play. Sad I know, but it's nice to watch that and convert stuff for 40K

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Hmm I must be one of the few people who thinks Fallout 3 is bloody awful :(
To be fair, I first played as soon as it was released and before it had been patched and the crashes were intolerable at times.

I thought this too. Still do at times. Often enough that I can put it away on the shelf for months at a time. I've got every patch since release and this game still crashes like it was made by a basement company.
Could be solved SO easily if Bethesda would just recruit some freaking testers

I think it was so long in development hell that in the end they kind of rushed it just to get it out there. My other beef with it is the way it kind of pisses all over the Fallout heritage really, seeing as I was a massive fan of Fallout 1 & 2. Was really looking forward to Van Buren (the original Fallout 3) before it got canned.

Van Buren might still be possible according to the Fallout 3 Wiki. They might release it under a different name. That's the one with Denver and the Houston Space Centre right?
I heard Bethesda is also looking into a Fallout MMO. It'll be interesting to see if they end up trying for it.

Not so sure - I think the chances of it being released 'officially' are slim to none, given that the dev team are scattered to the four corners of the globe now. There was a playable tech demo that has been leaked out. I did hear from some sources that the game was roughly 70% complete before Black Isle bit the dust.

Fallout: New Vegas
GameSpot has this announcement and the trailer. Along w/ some speculation on what is seen in the trailer. Great, now I gonna lose time to F:NV and MW2. My wife is gonna kill me.

Heard that they're using the Fallout 3 style, but using several game mechanics from the originals. Such as Pain Thresholds and armor classes. No idea what the pain threshold would really do to change game play though. Armor didn't seem to do too much in Fallout 3 compared to Oblivion though(durability of armor vs actual armor ratings) hope they do something about that in NV. Automatically Appended Next Post: New special moves for melee weapons may be included. Almost makes me want to drop my MIRV.

In terms of what I would like to see, how about some interaction from the DLC in Fallout 3. Especially from the Mothership Zeta Pack.

this months UK official xbox mag's got a 4/5 page spread on the new fallout, it looks good they mention a mission where you've got to rescue a ghoul from a radio station controlled by a mad super mutant (smart breed) dressed like elton john lol. and it confirms the new melee attacks, the one specifically mentioned is "fore" with a gold club
and NCR and ceasers legion are the main protaganists/antagonists. it does sound a lot like VB

Looks *AMAZING*...-ly like #3. Not saying that's a bad thing, it's just not a huge step on. I guess I wasn't expecting more, but deep down I think I was looking for something perhaps a bit grittier looking.
Hell, could you get grittier than #3? Probably not, and the new Hardcore Mode looks awesome. Geeking out big time.
