Thank you, Game Workshop, for totally ass-fething the Imperial Guard. The excuse of "IP protection" made you strip away everything that was good and holy about my army.
What you gave us:
New orders that are mostly useless.
A gakky transport we didn't need.
A gakky sub-codex that could have easily been part of the main codex. OH WAIT, IT IS.
A gakky artillery vehicle whose model is just ANOTHER model, without barrels.
The ability to, finally, take tanks as HQ. But no tank-as-troop options to allow a proper armoured company.
New stormtrooper models, because you had to support the aforementioned gakky codex.
What you took away from us:
Properly independent Commissars.
Thematic mission-oriented stormtroopers. Now we have to buy a platoon of them, and they're just upgraded veterans.
Every awesome special character, because you don't have models for them.
Every awesome army build centered around a special character.
Vendetta's troop compartment for no good reason. Sorry, AM, you can't have one of the best flyers in the game, anymore.
Basilisks that can direct-fire.
All the other artillery pieces.
Any model with the 'interceptor' rule built-in. Flakk missiles don't count, they're being given to everyone.
Any model with outflank, save for gak-ass scout sentinels, who are walkers who STILL CANNOT TAKE A SECOND WEAPON.
The Leman Russ' ability to shoot ordinance and fire everything else as well, even as snap-fire.
The ability for a Heavy Weapons Team to fire a lasgun in addition to the heavy weapon.
And, lastly, our NAME.
What you haven't given us, but you've given everyone else:
Cool non-brb psychic powers.
Dataslates.

Because someone at GW decided do demote the Guard to 'Allies' status. gak you buy to support your Space Marines.

I may have come up with the greatest 2000 point Warhammer 40,000 army ever fielded.
HQ Lord Commissar with "The Emperor's Benediction".
TR1 and TR2 10-man Veteran Squad with camo gear, snare mines and autocannon.
EL1, 2, and 3 10 Bullgryn squads.
FA1, 2, and 3 10-man Roughriders (2x melta each).
The Lord Commissar wields 2 pistols and is mounted on a fancy horse.
The Bullgryns are mounted on heavy horse (Ogryn-sized, and based) with cannoneer shields. (shields with a cannon built in)
The Roughriders are mounted on light horse with their usual lances and such.
The two troops are kitted out to be royal engineers, with camo shields, mines, etc.
All are Praetorians.

I still prefer the 33dollar IG codex with characters, that can be custom built by some, and 3rd party sculpts exist out there you can get, or older minis still circulating.
Taurox looks like a saturday morning kid show clown cart to me.
Astra Militarum,,,,,,,I wave my wand and shout that for some Harry Potter effects
Astra Militarum is as vanilla as it gets.

We'll not everyone.. the Ork codex IMO is sub par, The BA codex went uber plain jane. I'll still use the small contingent of IG ( AM or TS ) I have as a supporting detachment.
