From Warhammer Community:
As well as returning with an epic new model, Fabius is also the cover star of the next book in the Psychic Awakening saga – War of the Spider. As he spins his plans and schemes, his enemies close in on him – the Death Guard, Officio Assassinorum and Talons of the Emperor all have their reasons for wanting to stop Bile. Along with background on the battles taking place amid the ruins of the Cadia System, the book will include new rules for the Adeptus Custodes, Sisters of Silence and Imperial Assassins. There are also additional rules for each of the seven Plague Companies of the Death Guard and a new Chaos Space Marines sub-faction called Agents of Bile, representing the twisted creations of the Clonefather.
So it would seem unlikely to see the Sisters of Silence appear in 'Pariah' as well.

I love the look of the new Skitarii models...but i'm completely underwhelmed by their gear choices at the moment. All borrow from pre-existing Skitarii tech that is gonna need some rules changes to be any good or will just be like Ruststalkers..cool looking but ultimately ineffective.

Well, the obvious one is that Necrons used to literally have a unit called Pariah.
Not that it would be clear they might come back, but It would be neat, I think, personally.

Not that I know of, they predate the notion of Dynasties, having only been in the 3rd Edition Codex.
My guess, if they were to come back, it would be Triarch units and not Dynasty ones, but who knows. At that point though, what really separates them from Praetorians? No idea, the only thing I could think of is that Pariah had Warscythes that were also ranged weapons, and also the ability to mess with Psychers. But, I don't know that would make them at all worth fielding, really.

Allegedly Szarekh, the Silent King was supposed to return. Essentially the Silent King is the ruler of all the Dynasties, that is the whole Necron Empire, which is called the Triarch (which I guess one could think of as a sort of Royal Court, or really Royal administration).
The story of the Pariah really doesn't fit any of that though, Pariah are actually humans, essentially cyborgs put together from Necton tech and human evolution that had been "spiked" with a "pariah gene" to make them sort of "Blanks," or whatever it is called when a human is cut off from the Warp (the idea was that Necrons had "planted" the Gene long ago and later the Inquisition would use them to make assassin or whatever, before the Necrons were awake to "reclaim" them to be Pariah). There really isn't any connection between Pariah and Szarekh though, because Pariah were only in the 3rd Edition Codex, where there is no notion at all of Dynasties, the Silent King or the Triarch.
I guess you could think up a way to connect them, like Szarekh's return actually "actives" that latent gene or something though, to retcon them back in. But again, I don't know what they'd actually serve as a battlefield purpose without a complete and total reimaging. As a Necron fan, I have zero expectation of anything remotely useful or interesting. I'd be happy to be surprised though, but I am not going to hold my breath, that is for certain. Automatically Appended Next Post: Dysartes wrote:Wouldn't unit-that-messes-(effectively)-with-psykers be enough of a niche for them?
Well, maybe? I guess we'd need to operationalize "enough" there. Sure, it is a reason to exist, I guess. A reason to run them though? That is much more debatable, depending on what other things they did (shoot well, high armor, fast, or something else like that). Sure, just being anti-psychic is "a thing" but of questionable utility in and of itself, to me, personally.

Oh, OK, yeah that rumer. That was also when people thought he'd be in "War of the Spider" (because he has something that looks like spider-legs. We now know that to not be the case. But I think in a recent White Dwarf there was a full page "ad" proclaiming the return of the Silent King, but with no other information.
Like usual, we will just have to wait and see. Maybe it will be both? Szeras is resin anyway, so it isn't as if he couldn't use a redo. Perhaps it relates to both, SIlent King return, Szeras' experiments pay off, and now there are Pariah again. Personally, I am not going to hold my breath though. At best, I'd think maybe Necrons get a neat looking model or two. Anything more than that seems like setting oneself up for disappointment.

New Psychic Awakening post concerning Engine War today from GW - looks like we might still get a release of it with an Ebook? I'm fine with that!
I also found it interesting the new video they released with it has Slaanesh and Nurgle in the forefront. Did Slaanesh sell so well that he/she is the new GW favorite? Haha.
Usually they use a Blood Thirster or GUO as the iconic Greater Daemon for a battle scene... but it's a Keeper! High hopes for my Slaanesh getting more fancy new rules!

Yeah, their role was iffy even back when they were a thing. I remember saying at the time that they'd make more sense as characters or something similar that you could disperse around the army for anti-psyk. As a unit...blah. And now Lychguard have covered the infantry-with-warscythes component (which wasn't and still isn't an amazing battlefield role). So they'd need to be re-imagined...and perhaps GW has done that.
Still, it seems too on the nose to name a whole supplement after a single Necron unit. The title probably relates to the story.

Hard to believe Slaanesh and Tzeentch will ever supplant Khorne and Nurgle in GW's eyes, however much we might want them to mix it up demonically a lot more then they do!

Slaanesh will have sold very well recently, seeing they have been among the top if not THE top of the AoS pile since the battletome ( AoS for codex) dropped on that side of Warhammer.

Yeah, honestly, I think a Pariah was either the first or second model I ever started painting, but given how little use they were on the table, I never even finished priming the unit, let alone painting any of them. I can't even recall using them in a game, maybe once, maybe in an Apocalypse game or something when I had everything I owned in play. I think in the old, old days of still using the 3rd Edition Codex, I had the idea of Pariah as sort of Sergeants, or whatever, since Necrons lack any real upgrade "leaders" for units, that could be added to "lead" a given infantry squad. So, not quite a character, but a way to, one, add a little CC punch to normally weak squads like Warriors or Immortals, and two, like you say, give an ability to spread the anti-psychic ability around your battlefield. At least they had to ability to shoot and be somewhat OK in CC, but without WBB, without a decent save and without being able to be teleported and each only having one attack, the unit itself was largely not good on the actual table.
Maybe they just make them an HQ though, but just a relatively cheap one, so you could do the same sort of thing now? Who knows, I guess that would be a bit more "balanced" since Characters are a bit more vulnerable since they don't join squads like in 4th Edition. The wishlist could be infinite, though, really. But bland, uninspiring rules are kind of what I've come to expect from what they tend to give Necrons, so I'm apt to just wait and see if this is really anything, and if so, just what it is. Expect to get shafted, be pleasantly surprised when maybe Necrons aren't. Since I didn't play in 7th Edition at all, when Necrons were (I think) somewhat "better" I'm still mostly in my old 3rd Edition mentality (I didn't play much during 5th, I was into Fantasy more).

It's funny though - Slaanesh has gone from "they're going to retcon/squat" them to some of the best selling Daemons in the eyes of the community haha. I think they finally have a grasp on how to handle Slaanesh (and thankfully it's not the "just gratuitous sex" thing).
We shall see! I am just hoping for some nice new rules to add flavor/variety to my force to make them more fun to play - I already do very well with them so don't need help competitively.

I can confirm Pariahs were absolutely garbage in 4th. However the aesthetic was awesome so that kinda made up for it. I painted a squad (as well as I could anyway) and they never saw the light of day. For title of "War of the Spider", Bile has the extra "limbs" and since he's at the forefront it might reference him.

"During the Gheistos Cataclysm in M41, N'kari arrived leading an army of Fiends and Daemonettes. His arrival marked the reaching of an alliance between Nurgle and Slaanesh"
I also don't think the nurgle models attacking the new Syrberys rangers look like anything we have at the moment. A mix of fat plaguebearer/little GUO and putrid Blightking.
At 45 secs in the video.

Well seeing we have only one book left it's pretty safe assumption that's the name of the book. And name is certainly necron themed.
Is this still based on assumption? (Due to factions getting done etc)
Or have they somewhere confirmed it?

Pariah's were an old Necron unit. The only factions without PA content are Necrons, Deathwatch and Harlequins.
(Or is this that M E T A joke that was going around the Adepticon thread?)
