What is this bullgak? I kid you not, in the 'notable battles' section of the new BA codex, one paragraph actually says outright that the Blood Angels are losing a battle to the Eldar and then the Sanguinor pops out of nowhere and kills the Avatar and all the Eldar run away despite having killed over 100 Battle-brothers. Then I read his fluff and raged even harder. He's like an 'I Win' button in the fluff. He pops out of thin air and single-handedly wins the day. I know each codex makes its own army seem like the best in 40k, but this is just ridiculous. There isn't a single mention in the codex of the Sangunior being bested by anyone. He apparently... ahem, flies up into the air with a Bloodthirster and drops it to its death. What. The. Feth. Marneus Calgar has nothing on this guy. He's the single most insufferable Mary Sue in 40k. Go to your FLGS (or 4chan), read the codex yourself, and rage. Oh, while we're on the subject of bullgak, take a look at this: In other words, the BA codex is, fluffwise, the most ridiculous pile of gak in 40k. You thought Ultramarines were the worst? Think again, Dakka.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

There wasn't a single mention of Calgar being bested in the Ultramarine dex, either. Next thing you know, the Nid dex pops along, and all of a sudden, he got put down like a bad habit.
Dark Eldar dex? Sanguinor will put the lotion in the basket, or get the Dark Lance again.

What I find amusing about the Sanguinor is the way he pops out of nowhere.
So either he's stalking BA ships (and that implies a lot of things) or it's like Santa...
"Where's Battle-Brother McBlood? Oh hey look, here comes the Sanguinor! Wonder where McBlood went."
As for the fluff creep, it's to be expected. The Doom of Malan'tai kicked the ass of an entire Craftworld, the Swarmlord owned Calgar like a little girl, and so on. When the new Eldar codex rolls out you can expect them to have steamrolled an entire hive fleet!

8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.
8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.
Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

I thought the rest of the new stuff was okay to good (I love Azreal or however you spell it), but the Sanguinor? Yeah, fluffwise complete utter rubbish. The model looks like a gold statue that had an affair with Celestine. And the mysterious appearances... please tell me I'm not the only one who went 'wtf? That sounds more like a daemon than a space marine'.
... that could be a good angle. They'd make very good Khorne worshippers if they weren't so very careful to avoid such.

I don't understand..
The necrons have allied with Marines more than once before to fight chaos. They hate warp craft and the nids have that in spades. They helped the TAU out (then ate what little souls they had)
Are you mad because the Necron lord has a name?
In the Tyranid codex, the Ultra MarinesBeat off a renegade CSM chapter, then took on a whole hivefleet. and had to use ALMOST all of thier forces.
WTH does it take for them to use it all?
|
And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.
Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole |

For them to use the entire Ulrtamarines chapter all at once?
Necron, Tau, Eldar, Dark Eldar, CSM, CD, Tyranids and Orks team up and head straight to Terra. Then they beat the Custodes and the Ultramarines show up last second to hold them off and the Emperor stands up and starts talking, then charges with Calgar and friends to kill them all. Then they start going after all the other Chapters becaus they didn't show up and must be traitors.

I think the real issue is the fact that the Blood Angels said "cheers mates, thanks for the help! You're off the hook this time, you devils, you "
And the Necrons didn't help out the Tau; they saw some warp-bastards (Tyranids) and went to town on them. Then went to town on the Tau. Big difference. Here both sides dropped their hatred to fight the Tyranids then shook hands and parted ways. There's a hell of a difference between the Eldar, who run the gamut from mildly cooperative to flying rodent gak enraged, and the Necrons who are universally homicidal machines.

Exactly. It's not the alliance that's an issue, it's the fact that the Necrons and BA didn't go back to fighting. They had no reason not to.

Given how often the fluff changes...It's best to ignore any of it from the Codex's. I think all this fluff to be a waste when they can concentrate more on stable rules and leave the fluff to BL authors.

The Warp isn't just evil entities, mate. The Emperor only exists as a warp-entity as it stands right now. Who's to say Sanguinius hasn't left a Warp imprint that flits and takes possession of one of his bloodline for an extreme circumstance?

Of all people, the Necrons made an alliance, that just seem awkward me. I mean, they are supposed to be soulless and caring only to harvest.
And the person who posted that they allied earlier up, could you tell me when? I don't remember ever reading about the Necrons allying with anyone, and I want to know where I missed it.
Also, someone once said that "The Sanginor" sounds like the Deceiver. I think that's a pretty awesome theory. A golden, angelic being appearing at times of greatest need? tackling on threats like an Avatar and Bloodthirster with ease? A C'tan could do all that and more....

To be fair, Calgar's defeat of an Avatar was more of a fluke. He was within an inch of his life when the handwavium technology of the Pimp Fists saved his bacon. If not for that, he'd be toast. This Sanguinor guy though... he'll probably be the reason the C'Tan won't be in the next Necron Codex - he's gone and beaten them all to death.

Some day Matt Ward and CS Goto will co-write a piece of fluff together. It will involve an Eldar extinction level event greater than the birth of Slaanesh. Calgar will surf a razorback down a river of blood while eating a charred Eldar, before uppercutting Ynnead toward the Sanguinor. They will then play 'keep away' using him.
Do the Necrons and BA really ally though? I missed that part. Wow, that's just... yeah...
