Hi everyone!
I'm a newcomer to this fine forum, but a long time lurker. And well, as you can see from this typing, I've decided to join in on the fun!
Recently I've been working on a large campaign project, using Necromunda (+house rules) to detail a different setting than the one from Necromuna. It's set on a small agriworld, and I'm currently going through various factions involved in this struggle (as well as some other oddities for the 40k universe).
A small local Astronuntiae Captain, working for an ancient shipping firm, has come to the planet Maliarch to get his hand on the Tachyionian Weed which has seen high demand on the open market...
A mysterious warlock, who may - or may not - be in league with chaos, and may or may not be the man responsible for the recent outburst of raids from the Highwaymen of Dreadholm Marshes...
A local variant of Enforcers (originally planner for an Ultramar Campaign, but will double for this campaign, seeing as Maliarch is supposed to be near Ultramar anyway...)
A local thug, or maybe a Farmhand

A tech-priest of the Imperial Mining Syndicate - the men responsible for the recent troubles on Maliarch.
One of the many clans of Highwaymen of the Dreadholm Marshes
Off-World mercenaries, veterans of the T'au Pacification, and hired by the Imperial Mining Syndicate to keep their complexes safe
A work in progress Imperial Preacher (well, almost done - just needs basing)
And another work in progress; he's a Lieutenant of the Governors Palace Guards
Anyway - that's all for now, but I'll probably keep updating as more get's painted. Thanks for looking

Awesome stuff Phoenikuz, and let me be the first to say welcome to DakkaDakka!
The =I= stuff has always been the real treat of the Dakka blogs, and I can definitely say yours is off to keeping with that trend. I really like that Enforcer (what's his head based off of?), and that Techpriest is AMAZING! (While the GW models are nice, I feel they are a bit generic with their massive power armor, and more human-sized tech priests look much better in my opinion)
The fluff is also quite interesting, and I liked reading the backgrounds on each of the groups; gave them a nice sense of character. Now that warlock you were talking about, he sounds rogue, and if he is, then it doesn't matter what he's doing, he's working for Chaos! No mystery there!
Fantastic stuff and definitely looking forward to your work in the =I= sector!

Malika2: The Enforcer is made with plastic JUNKER Gladiator head, arms, shield and back pack from (old) Void 1.1 now Urban Mammoth.
The Shoulders are VIRIDIAN Interdict Marines, again (old) Void 1.1 now Urban Mammoth.
I'm a BITz FREAK, I have this huge library of minis metal and plastic in my head. If it exists I can find it!
Hope you don't mind me telling Phoenikuz

Thanks a bunch!
I'm working on writing up the whole she-bang (setting, house rules and all that) and once done, will post about it here as well. And on the modelling bench there's a bunch of other stuff (mostly renegade PDF's in league with the warlock, an off world bounty hunter, more enforcers, Renegade T'au..), which unfortunately will have to wait until this here Easter-thing passes before I can get any work done on it
And yeah, the planet Maliarch has always been a bit of a back-water planet; nothing to write home about, until the Imperial Mining Syndicate started to mess stuff up, all in the name of a few extra credits
In other words, more is coming, but it'll probably take a while.
Malika2 wrote:Amazing stuff! Great to see more =I=munda madness here! How did you make that Enforcer?
Well, RedSarge has them almost spot on (And I made it, RedSarge just got an eye for details (or bits):
The basic torso consists of a Cadian guardsman, as well as Legs from the same. The arms, shotgun, helmet and shield are from the VOID series of plastics, Junkers to be exact, with some Viridian Shoulderplates thrown into the mix.
There will be future VOID models slightly converted and used for this setting as well. I've got a Syntha assassin, who's going to need very little converting, but yeah - that's for the future.
However, I dug out these pictures, detailing the construction of the TechPriest - maybe Redsarge can give you all a lowdown of the bits involved?
Cheers!

Sure thing! (Oh, and thanks )
The body, is readily avaiable. In order to make a patented Phoenikuz enforcer ( ) you'll also need one of these and one of these.
The head, arms, shotgun, backpack and shield are all from the second plastic kit; be warned that you need a good sharp knife as this plastic is much harder than that of GW's. The arms have some sort of ball-join which you'll need to cut at an angle in order to get them to fit to the IG torso.
The same goes for the head; you'll need to shave it here and there to make it fit.
Then you'll grab some of the shoulderpads from the first link and hid the somewhat messy joins (which can be greenstuffed, but I'm still not skilled enough with that stuff) and voilá - you have yourself an Enforcer

You should definitely make more enforces, these would be cool NPC's for a campaign! Have your gangs/factions try to enter some Imperial government facility only to run into a whole bunch of these enforcers blowing everything up!
Are you also going to build terrain?

I actually have made up a whole bunch of Enforcers; but they're lacking in the paint-department. Also, I need to figure out what I'm going to do with them, paint-wise. They were - and still are - intended for an Ultramar campaign that I'd like to run. So I'm thinking they're probably on Maliarch (close to, but not inside of Ultramar) because of some Ultramar Senator or similar... ooh, yes, of course! There's an excuse to 40k-fy a greek miniature!
So yeah, they'll join the fun in an NPC/Arbitrator scenario once done and all that.
As for terrain.. well.. It's just not my thing. Not only do I have a very, very small flat currently, but I'm also not quite as adept at building terrain. But in the end, I might end up kitbashing some terrain for sepcific locations and so on (luckily I have good friends who are more than capable of making terrain )

Paint the other enforcers like the one you have now! Maybe add a transport for them, either some sort of Rhino (variant) or maybe even a Valkyrie? For your other campaign they would then make great Stormtroopers!
What about adding some representatives of the Imperial Mining Syndicate? You could build some strange nobility looking peeps with some bodyguards which could range from trenchcoat wearing professionals to heavy muscled bionically upgraded loons.
Oh, and more civilians! Always great to have those around as some sort of cannon fodder!

Yes, the remaining Enforcers that I've made will become an entourage for an Ultramar official who's there to keep a lookout on Maliarch troubles. Seeing as it borders Ultramar, there might be political manouverings going on about the accquisition of Maliarch. As for stormtroopers, well.. I have some other plans, involving some scouts, cadians and some Weird War II heads from West Wind - will update once the bits are bought
And yes, there will be a good dozen of the IMS and all the other factions! But good call on the civilians! They'll be needed for the campaign as well. I'm thinking of modifying some Empire Militia into somewhat typical farmers - the important part would be for them to be unarmed.. But I'll get there eventually
Oh, and for those interested, I have some fluff that I've written up for three of the four factions currently involved in the Maliarch Debacle (basically, the IMS has storngarmed the Governor into lowering the off-world sales of Tachyionian Weed, because the IMS knows that their competitors need it. The IMS has engaged in galaxyspanning embargos on Tachyionian Weed, so Maliarch is just a small cog in the great scheme-machine. Oh, and the Farmers have found out about it and are pretty upset by it all... )
---
The Governor was initially strongarmed into the 'agreement' with the Imperial Mining Syndicate (IMS), but later he came to realize that maybe this agreement wasn't so bad after all. Once he realized that he could garner a very huge profit from securing Tachyionian Weed himself, and wait for the market to become desperate, he suddenly saw things in a whole different light. However, he had to move without the merit of his Imperial Mandate, otherwise someone higher up in the chain of command would become very suspecious on what was going on at Maliarch. It was a dangerous game, but one he was willing to play.
At first he himself bought up all the Tachyionian Farms that went bankrupt, and installed his personal Palace Guard on the sites to secure them from the farmers, but he could not - truly - use them in an aggressive role. If word got out of his plans, which they would, then his scheme would come apart in one fell stroke. Instead, he found another dubiouis ally.
The Highwaymen of Dreadholm Marshes; these swamp-pirate gangs and crews of misfits would serve his masterplan well. The Dreadholm Marshes are an intricate network of wetland, that covers nearly 60% of Maliarch itself. Long have they been a nuisiance as their constant raids on settlements, villages and farmsteads close to the marshes - but now they would instead serve as perfect pawns. Styling himself The Puppetmaster he has begun to incite the highwaymen into attacking settlements, raid them, and then move his Palace Guard in to liberate the area, and claim he is only there until this 'war' is over, while reaping the profits in the meantime.
While the Lord Marshall of the Maliarch Armed Forces has his supecions regarding the Governors motives in the recent campaign of 'liberating' the farmsteads from highwaymen, he has little choice but to keep up Imperial Order across Maliarch - especially as he knows that if the Governor is linked to all of these events, then he, being Lord Marshall, will be next in line for the seat of Governor. But the Governor, and his seat, is the least of his worries now. Recently, the so-called Puppetmaster have sparked a veritable onslaught of Highwaymen raids across the Marshes, which has meant that the Planetary Defence Force, already shorthanded and understaffed, have seen far more action than ever before. And still the Lord Marshall needs to stomp out the rebellious farmers, keep the goodwill and faith of the populace and keep out further Imperial Involvement (as that would mean he would loose not only the seat, but his life!).
Forced by circumstances, the Lord Marshall has begun to raise Militia Forces across Maliarch; arming peasants and giving them only the most basic of training available. Inintially, they were supposed to be a pure defense force, intended to watch over their settlements and farmsteads, but with the main defense force stretched so thin, he has no choice but to use them in a more aggressive role and take the fight to rebels in order to gain the initiative.
The Imperial Mining Syndicate is an ancient institution, that claims (albeit dubiously) to have been founded in the era of the Great Crusades. But even so, it is definately old and very influental. As such, it has been involved in numerous clandestine affairs against its competitors, of which the Maliarch debacle is only the most recent. Their major holding is that of minerals for production of many of the goods used and sold across Imperial domain. However, they were abhorred by the fact that the Imperial Farming Combine had secured a hold on the market for superconducting liquids; primarily used in the field of bionics - especially since they wanted in on that market. Thus, the Imperial Mining Syndicate set in motion a grand scheme, to infiltrate the government of all worlds who produced Tachyionian weed, and force the market to plummet, by disrupting the harvest, ruining the crops and use all other such methods.
To Maliarch they have assigned Lord Adept Ledd van Dirén to oversee the handling of the Maliarch operations. By forcing the Governor to lower the sale price on Tachyionian Weed, he swiftly and effectively put many of the Farmers out of work; whilest increasing the Mining Crews to not only secure their holdings, but also to net a greater profit than his predecosser, in the hopes that this would promote him to the rank of Lord Senioris Adept. What Lord Adept Ledd van Dirén didn't account for was the rebellion his cunning plan would ignite. Worried that they could overthrow the Governor, he has hired Off-World Mercenaries to combat these rebellious farmsteaders, and to aid the mining crews in defending the complexes scattered across Maliarch. So far, the netprofits have made great advances... so far...
----
Why they fight amongst themselves
Palace Guards are not what you would classify as a dedicated career army. Most of them are nothing more but pencilpushers, given a rifle and sent to hold an area - and while the Governor may be a great schemer, he is not the greatest of military commanders. And it is this confusion that allows for old feuds to become violent battles, as various platoons take sides in the on-going conflict and engage the enemy whereever he is found; even if he is a comrade-in-arms.
The Highwaymen of Dreadholm Marshes have a long history of in-fighting. The city of Dreadholm is a notorious cesspool of illegal activities and gang wars run rampant in its streets. At the dawn of Maliarch history, there were once great clans who ruled the planet before the Imperium crushed their once noble rule and enforced Imperial politics. So effective was the Imperium in culling this proud people that these scattered gangs are the only, and sorry, remains of the old clans, fighting feuds that have long since passed into oblivion and jumping at any chance for what little power they can find.
Often, the Planetary Defence Force will mistake Militia units for rebels, an event that really does not help raise faith in the Imperial Creed among the Farmsteads. And some Militias have only signed up to get free weapons, so that they can take the fight to the Defense Force. Tensions are mounting internally, as squads start to align themselves with one of the two parties involved in the skirmish; many due to family ties or feuds, others by creed, and the odd few are in it just to fight.
The Imperial Mining Syndicate (or simply the Syndicate, as they are commonly called by the populace) has had an ancient policy of paying dividens of the profits to the mining complex who made the singlemost profit in the fiscal year. The idea was to entice the Foremen to work their crews harder and gain a greater profit, but the end result has been that most Mining Crews are more prone to sabotaging fellow complexes in order to gain the often astronomical dividens. Thus, Mining Crews are fiercely competative and will not back down from any deal that would set their competitors back and advance their own profits.
Off World Mercenaries being what they are, may have long standing feuds inbetween themselves. And whenever they happen to be on the same planet, all hell will break loose. Most Mercenaries are professional soldiers, trained from birth to serve their true god - Mammon - across the universe. Others are raging psychotics, desperate veterans from countless warzones who banded together after having been left behind. In other words, it is rare to see two mercenary bands work together than to see them fight.
(Sorry for the TL;DR, but It's a big project after all - and yes, all the items marked in bold will get a miniatures worth (or more) for the campaign - and I've still not written anything for the Farmers. But they're also split into two factions - meaning a grand total of 8 factions to miniaturize and paint up! Fortunately, It's Necromunda numbers, so it won't be too much hassle... aside from the various odd miniature that I've made (like the enforcers(yes, I write too much ;D)))

So far so good man! The campaign sounds very interesting, I'm very curious how you will do the Ultramar official. For some reason I'm very tempted to yell at you that you should make a single true scaled (in the same style as Migsula, Apologist and other) Ultramarine who accompanies the official.
As for more ideas on the factions, companies and such, you might want to check out the [url=http://anargo-sector.net]Anargo Sector Project[url]. We've been working on creating an entire Imperial sector in full detail. But things have gone kind of stale last year and some of us have been working on a revival of the project. Some stuff which might interest you:

- Imperial Guilds
- Noble Houses
- Imperial Technology
Also keep your eyes on this thread for Troll Forged Miniatures releases. Might sound spammy (sorry!), but you might like these:

- Space pirate WIP
I wonder how you will add the additional RPG intrigue elements into the gameplay...

And now, some painting progress:
(Sorry for the bad phtoto, still working out how this fancy new camera works!)
Pictured is a couple of Renegade Guardsmen who are working for the formerly shown Warlock. I'm adding to this band of Chaos thugs steadily - but I've also purcahsed some parts for the Mining Crews (altho' I'm a bit stumped as to how I should make these...) and some other bits for the Palace Guard. So once I've blockpainted these here Renegades, it's time to start convertin' once more...
... Well, okay, time to convert once I've painted these as well:
Cheers all!

Well... yeah, took some time to get back to this thread.
I was busy painting up a Rogue Trader IG army that my =I=Munda project was, sorta, neglected. The good thing is that both projects share similar units and thus I have actually gotten both an IG army, but also a whole host of new =I=Munda miniatures!
And I'm kicking it all off by putting together a very special vehicle...
STC Rhino 'Clarke' pattern, with additional missile launcher support and other field upgrades
Yup; this is an exploration and survey Rhino for any ground team that has just made planetfall on a long forgotten Imperial world... although this particular model has had some.. ahem... 'field-upgrades'
But here we go again; I'm back in the saddle and eager to get some =I=Munda gaming done this year. Cheers, and thanks for reading!

Well, the thing has gotten its basecoat, but I'm a bit unsure as to how to actually paint the thing! So far I've come up with a somewhat neutral colour, befitting it's function as a practical machine rather than a posh warmachine... but then again, it is a Rogue Trader vessel...
@Molotov - Cheers and likewise! I hope this new campaign will actually see more than text and conversions (although some of the old models will be recycled into this here new setting). But ah well, that's life I guess.
Keep up the good work! Your conversions are really inspiring as well!
@Death Gear - Cheers!
@Topic -
I figured I might as well repost these pictures of my Rogue Trader army seeing as the Clarke-class Rhino is going to belong to this particular Rogue Trader - enjoy!
Lord Commodore Sebastian von Fintelmann and Retuine (Company Commander)
Jim McCoy - Ship Surgeon
Decimus Phalanix - Honour Guard
D-4T4 - Servitor
Oog - Bodyguard
Freitach - Honour Guard
Automatically Appended Next Post: Just a quick update on painting the 'Clarke' pattern Rhino:
I'm going to paint some warning/hazard stripes just outside the side hatches; and I am considering some form of freehand extravaganza as well - the Rhino needs to show it's colours afterall, even tho' it is the personal vehicle for the Rogue Trader; so expect some heraldy.
... And now I need to experiment in grittyfying a vehicle!
