It's finished! Well, of sorts.
Overview of the Rhino
I'm going to wait on adding transfers until I've either found some that I like or that I've picked up some microsol/set and figured out how to use it.
I tried a whole lot of things for this paintjob; but the thing that paid off the most was, in my oppionion, the weathering and the battledamage:
Took some time to get right, but now I've kept the mixtures used (basically just took two colours of Vallejo Model Color browns, added a lot of water, mixed and kept it) and now I'm rather eager to get to paint more vehicles!
The battledamage was done by taking a small bit of sponge on a stick, dip it in black, splosh it on random areas followed by a similar, smaller, splosh of boltgun metal.
So there we have it, the Clarke Pattern Rhino; any comments or critique?
Oh, there's bound to be an update, later on, with some stats for this baby over on my blog in a couple of hours both for 5th and "2nd" edition!

Just wanted to let you all know that there was a recent update on my blog, detailing last nights gaming effort.
Unfortunately, then pictures of the newly painted miniatures have to wait until tomorrow as I'm running out of time to do it to day.
@Dawi-Marine'Va: Erhm... sorry, but what Squats are you referring to?

That is quite a nice paint job on the tank. The footplate is particularly impressive, I think.

@The Good Green - Cheers! I hope that I learned something from painting it; got a Mechanized Marine Force coming up soon in the painting que after all...
@Dawi-Marine'Va: Ah right, well, unfortunately I can't help you as it was a construct of an old gaming buddy of mine. We sort of drifted apart and all that, you know, so I can't take any new pictures of it or tell much about it I'm afraid :(

Phoenikuz I missed this blog on Dakka...caught a glimpse over at The Eastern Fringes and commented but I'll continue watching it here since Dakka is more user friendly.
I really love what you've done for the Rogue Trader's warband and the battle reps are getting me itching for a game a game of Necro.
The Clarke Pattern Rhine is looking great, I like that you've given it a worn frontiers world paint scheme rather than battle damage.
Molotov - Cheers Mol, thanks for the redirect

Just a short update!
I'm currently working on a Planetary Defence Force for Refuge's End, and here's how they're looking so far:
I don't know what else I need to give them. They shouldn't be overloaded with backpacks and similar as they are intended as a quick reaction force; saddling up in their APC's and drive out to the troublespot, shoot stuff up and then return home.
Any ideas on what I could add to make them 'pop'?

I like how you've made PDF issue Autoguns. They look just different enough to the Lasgun. The clip needs some work though its a tad wide in the top pic... but since this is a WIP I'm sure you'd have spotted it. The head is cool. I like the massive gun sight eye.
To make them pop I think you need to make them look a little less Cadian...hmmmm maybe add some pouches (not the cadian ones) and a spare ammo clip on the waste. Green stuff slightly different cuffs on the wrists? Change the shoulder pads or even get rid of the shoulder pads?
Something else that could make them pop is the colour of their uniform. Avoid the Cadian colour scheme etc. Actually what colours are you planning on using?

I am so glad I found this thread! I didn't see it until just recently, the photos of the miniatures are amazing, great work. I'm going to go back and read through everything completely start to finish tomorrow or at the end of this weekend.
Thanks for sharing your stuff, it's inspirational and very topical for my own project right now.

Ehm... actually, I didn't notice it at all! Goes to show that you always need a second set of eyes! I'll see if it is that problematic in the flesh, otherwise I'll have to cut him up... that sounded wrong, but you know what I mean!
I could have gone for a complete removal of the shoulderpads - in fact, I was heavily considering it but I don't really have any access to non-shoulder-pad arms and I'm not that experienced in using Green Stuff enough so that I could remove said shoulderpads. I gave them a couple of pouches and, as you say, I think it's up to the paint job to make them look un-cadian. Although, in my opinion, the auto-gun and helmet certainly helps with the feel
And as for the colours.. well.. I just don't know! They're supposed to look non-millitaristic and my first instinct was to go for a UN style dress (you know, normal fatigues and then blue armor) but.. I tried it out and it didn't really look right. So now I'm a bit at a loss. I don't want them to look like a proper army, with camouflage and all but want them to have that distinct half-way-police-force look in some way or another...
... I haven't got a clue really! And must ponder on it in the coming weekend

Lol a second pair of eyes really is a must.
Oh the Autogun and helmet certainly help reduce the cadian appearance. As for green stuff it is not so bad after the first few attempts. Some tips if you're interested: When you've mixed it leave it alone for 20 mins or so before using it. Clay Shaper tools are really good with green stuff, as they don't stick to it, and this website has a very good 101 http://blog.brushthralls.com/?page_id=1666
Having just quickly removed a Cadian shoulder pad with clippers and then filing it down it doesn't actually look that bad without any green stuff.
How about do the fatigues to kinda match the your gaming table and then do the body armour in black or white.
Anyway I look forward to seeing seeing how they turn out.

I keep looking at that Rhino and I have got to try something similar when I start doing vehicles for my Cult. You've also inspired me to make more Necromunda-style terrain for my tabletop like walls of crates, palates of oil drums, etc. I got a bunch of it done last night (instead of painting miniatures... but it was time well spent). I'll checking back on this thread a lot, the work here is amazing.
