Excellent work! I love that khorne lord!

I like the idea of using the lids and half minis as small busts, would make a nice display on a shelf, but be a bit of a space saver. I might have to give it ago some time, I have some room in front of my dvds that a handful of these would fit perfectly!

Really like that Joker's crew, some of the characters are just bonkers. Is the guy with the giant eyeball as a head the lookout? The panda bear is inspired as well.

Is there much of a BTMG crowd at your uni/local gaming club?

Thanks guys! Had a lot of fun painting that crew and hopefully I'll have the Suicide Squad themselves finished up soon, it's just Slipknot and El Diablo to go now. Also got some more Deathwatch done that I need to photograph, and something a bit different coming up next week...

@Thraxas: Funny enough, the Eyeball Man profile suffers penalties to accuracy as soon as he's firing at anything other than short range, turns out wearing a 2-foot-wide eyeball for a mask doesn't help peripheral vision that much! There's not much of a BMG crowd up here, I've run demos for a few folks but mostly it's 40k, AoS and X-wing that we play. Luckily, KM's games are about the only wargames my brother will touch, so I get to play a lot when I'm home.

Something different today, AKA 'Para starts yet another random project'! But this one is a little different, as it involved translating one of my all-time favourite sci-fi franchises to the tabletop (second only to Star Wars, probably), Mass Effect. It's crazy that the series has never had any kind of tabletop or even board game adaptation, so I'm off on a quest to source minis and build a ME gaming set from the ground up. This started off as a simple desire to collect minis for a few of my favourite characters, but in for a penny, in for a pound, so I'm going to be building a skirmish ruleset from the ground up, and already have plans for at least 5 factions in miniature form, with more inevitably to come!

All this has to start small, though, so here are the first couple of minis of what will hopefully be a pretty extensive project!

First off, the man himself, Commander Shepard, most heroic of Big Damn Heroes (or a total dick depending on how you play him), here as a sniper Infiltrator class as that was the easiest one to find a model for. Simple conversion this, just an Infinity Nomad Intruder with a head from Anvil's Afterlife basing kit.

And maybe my favourite character in the series (her only rival is next up on the desk), Tali'Zorah Vas Normady, the Quarian with a penchant for shotguns and hacking. Again converted from a Nomad model, the Reverand Custodier. There was a little more to the conversion this time, I had to GS the mask a little to get it right, and though it's not really noticeable in the pics, I bent the legs a little to get closer to the backwards knees Quarians have.

More on this coming soon, and plenty of other stuff, including the final stages of the Deathwatch, and a very exciting new commission project... I'm not saying anything, other than it's from a game that ryhmes with Flood Mole...

Thanks for looking, any thoughts welcome!

Those models look fantastic Paradigm. I'm especially in love with that Tali model, she's by far my favourite character of the series and you've done an amazing job representing her.

Quick update today, the start of a new commission project, The Grutnik Gamblers, a Skaven team for Blood Bowl! Not something I've really looked into before, but the new models look like they'll be very fun to paint up and I always enjoy painting up some Skaven. The rest of the team will follow in a couple of weeks as I'll be working on them over Christmas, but in the mean time, here's a mostly-done shot of the team's first model, a Rat Ogre... I believe this model was a Star Player in the old BB range, but here he's just a regular guy... erm, giant monster rat... Need to order some stuff for the basing, but the paintwork is mostly done.

Also another bunch of Deathwatch, 5 of the last 10 Veterans

That's all for now, thanks for looking! Any thoughts are of course welcome!

Ooo, interesting colour scheme for the rat. Don't think I've seen purple rats before ;P

Well done.

Haha, the rest of the rats will be in more normal colours, with this one I just really wanted to get a horribly distressed, bruised and tortured look as the process of creating a Rat Ogre isn't exactly a pleasant one!

Love the Rat Ogre and the DW too. They look super menacing in the group photos.

Thanks chaps!

Back to 40k today, a Deathwatch Marine though not one for the commission project, just for my shelf. Parts from all over here, Anvil body and legs, DW arms, comverted backpack and head from the 25th Anniversary Marine I made into Kantor earlier in the year. Technically he's a Blackshield from an unknown Chapter, but there are a couple of very telling clues on the mini that hint at his history.

That's all for now, most of my painting at the moment is Drop Pods! Should have the second one done up tomorrow. In the mean time, cheers for looking, any thoughts welcome!

Very nice build and paintwork on him Para, he is definitely Alpha Legion (well they all are aren't they?).

Good luck slogging through those pods.

Cheers folks!

@Thraxas: Alpha Legion? Not what I had in mind but it'd mean he was in double disguise! With the DA styled Crozius and the DA pad on his base, along with the older armour I was trying to suggest he was one of the Fallen, but what's to say the Fallen weren't all Alphas in the first place? I mean, everyone else was...

Cheers guys!

Nearly done with the second Drop Pod, and I've assembled the last two Deathwatch Veterans so both should be wrapped up tomorrow.

That's a wrap on the infantry portion of the DW force! Also takes me to 300 minis for the year, not the most explosive way to hit the landmark but I'm still pleased to have got there considering I think my target at the start of the year was in the region of 150-odd!

And a Drop Pod. It's a Drop Pod. All I can really say about it is Drop Pod.

Might go quiet for a few days as I'm heading home for Christmas on Friday, but progress will resume shortly with DW bikes and their Librarian, and the start of the Skaven Blood Bowl team. In the mean time, cheers for looking, any thoughts welcome!

Nice looking force there.

300 is a good mark, but not going to push out another 65 minis for a mini a day?

Para could totally do that with the rate he does things

Very nice Deathwatch Para, shame you have to send it off. My favourite is definitely the Drop Pod. Obviously.

Ta folks! Not quite done with the Deathwatch just yet, still a few more bikes, the Librarian and another pod to do, I'll endeavour to get some army shots of the lot before they go, pending lighting/space.

@Warboss: I'll be sad to see them go, that always happens with commissions! But with how rarely I play 40k these days, I'd not really be able to justify collecting an army of any real size for myself, so this has essentially been a guilt-free way to build an army of minis I absolutely love (I like to think I've really pushed the DW Veteran kit to its limits) and in many ways it's more satisfying to know they'll be hitting the gaming tables in the hands of a happy client than sitting on my shelf collecting dust!

@Nev: Nah, 365 was last year's goal (though I think I ended up doing about 500ish... I'll have to look when I do my annual 'year in review' post in a couple of weeks) I'm more than happy with my output this year, I think my quality and more importantly my consistency has kicked up a notch, which was the main goal for 2016. Might go for 365 again next year, though...
