I started an Imperial Guards Army last year, but with the introduction of the new tanks, etc., that no longer have the accessories sprue, I've lost interest, I'm just not prepared to pay £8 for track guards.
So I left with a Imperial Guard Valkyrie, that I'm considering turning into a Space Marine transport.

Have you lot out there any suggestions, modelling ideas, and what it counts as?

Terrain? Also FW used to sell track guards but I can not find them on the new site.

Nothing. Space Marines don't use Valkyries.

But if you -absolutely must- use it in conjunction with Space Marines--have it be an Inquisitorial or Planetary Defense Force Valkyrie that's used as an objective or as an Inquisitor's transport.

The loss of track guards is a pretty stupid reason to stop playing Guard. They're not even an upgrade anymore.

You could do the army du jour thing and make that Valkyrie into a Stormraven. Or you could send it to me

Inquisitorial forces are the only reason I've not put my Guards up for sale, I waiting on the upcoming Inquisition Codex, which will probably disappoint anyway.

And there's really nothing in the Space Marine armory that it could be 'counted as'.

It's too big for a Land Speeder/Land Speeder Storm and it's too small for a Thunderhawk.

If you're waiting for the Inquisition, then get a leg up now. Make a few units of 'counts as' Hardened Veteran/ Inquisitorial Stormtrooper units(even if you just take the current Kasrkin models and add a few purity seals to them) and mount them in Valkyries.

Have you seen a modern MBT or AFV without them, no we learned back in the 1920's the they stay mobile longer if you protect the tracks.
Now I know their not real, but they do look so much better with track guards, less WW1 era.

Unfortunately I don't like them without the track guards and I'm not pay GM any more then I have to.

Edit: Well, it is not exactly Inquisition or Valkyrie, but a Sororitas Aquila Lander, but you get the idea:

since your reasoning is baed on the asthetics, you could probably make track guards out of plasticard. One $2 For Sale Sign from the local hardware store should do an entire army of new tanks and it's probably one of the easier conversions out there. There might even be templates already since the scratch build sites / yahoo groups have templates for the entire vehicles, it probably wouldnt be that difficult to find a template for them.

The only marine vehicle the valkrye fits into conversin wise is a storm raven For BA, and it usually requires the parts of another vehicle or plasticard as well.

IMO guard has gotten much better (both playability and variety of ways to build the army you envision) so my advice is to find a way to keep the army that you probably chose becasue you are a tred head at heart ...

What game is the picture from? Not Dawn of War Soulstorm, even tough it's the only one that I know that has the Sisters of Battle as a playable race. Is it one of the three DOW II games? In that case wich one? I have been trying to find a model of the Aquila Lander and I would really like to know.

I dunno if they still do but forgeworld used to make the aquila lander model.

It's from a mod; you'll have to look around for Dawn of War Soulstorm mods and see if you can find it. Also, this is almost a 5 year threadnomancy
