I like em. I wonder if they'll ever produce "chestclad" dwarf barbarians

Hope so - I think they are planning to expand the lines; this is just the initial toe into the water with regards to the dwarves.

Well GW, there goes some of the money I would have spent with you if you hadn't priced me out of expanding my Eldar army!

I'm from the future. The future of space

Hmm.

20 Mantic Dwarf Ironclads @ 12.50 = .625 per dwarf

16 GW Dwarf Warriors @ 18.00 = 1.1245 per dwarf

Close to half price for dwarfs that don't look like circular fat blobs with beards. I never quite understood why GW went with the super round look for their dwarfs.

Or am I comparing these dwarfs to the wrong product? Are they more analogous to the iron breakers?

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Runnin up on ya.

They'll be mighty easy to convert to chaos dwarfs!

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

They really need to get the dwarves with longrifles out, I'm gonna be a poor guy when that happens :(

I must admit, Mantic is starting to tempt me. If they keep expanding their range, I'll be tempted to play Warhammer, just with Mantic figures.

Chest clads!

I don't care as much for the armored dwarfs, but the chestclads will be neat to complete.

Hmmm, i don't think these models look as good as the GW ones imo, but they're certainly a lot cheaper! I'll take a note of Mantic methinks, maybe they'll have something else that'll be good for my armies.

I did have a look at the undead stuff, not that i collect any undead army, but the undead stuff looked the best imo.

Another thing that caught my attention was the elf prince on dragon, a quick spray of chaos black and that'd make a very nice, and much cheaper, DE black dragon!

It's a tiny model compared to the GW dragon. And that's with its wings fully extended, tail out, etc.

Wasn't trying to discourage, was just pointing out that Mantic's Elves are reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly weedy compared to GW's. It'd look kinda out of place I think.

Their Dwarves are getting really good now, I didn't like the first plastic set much, can't say why there's just something about the look I don't dig.
Edit: Just seen this pic on their website, they look much better with these colours;
http://www.manticgames.com/SiteData/Root/Image/Gallery/Open/Paul%20Martin%20Dwarf%20Ironclads%202.jpg

Their Dwarf army deal comes out right after me and my brother's birthdays and he's asked for the 8th edition rulebook for his, temptation to start fantasy growing.

Not sure about the dwarves tbh
But I do like the berserkers, better imho than the GW slayers.

Maybe it is the shock of seeing their knees.
Some of the hammerers posted look good

Having said that I shall accept Mantics generous prize with much happiness when they pull my name out of the hat
please. pretty please?

The newer dwarves look as good as the Reaper mini dwarves (which I am very fond of). Good work, Mantic. I'll have to order some when they come out in August.

Hmmmmm not really digging the plastics at all. Not particularly good sculpts. Sort of remind me of GW stuff ten or fifteen years ago.

Some of their metal has promise but it is only just ok.

I picked up a box of 10 today to see how they went together. I'm pretty happy with the quality up close, and the scale is okay too for fantasy. They're slightly taller and slightly broader than GW dwarves, but it's not too obvious. One thing I was slightly disappointed by was the fact that they only get 4 great weapons out of the 10, but on the other hand the posing for and proportions of those weapons are really nice. I'm planning on using them as Ironbreakers, so I don't mind them being slightly beefier than average- after all, these are professional full time soldiers, unlike your average clansdwarf.

Really? They are Dwarfs who actually have knees. That reason alone puts them ahead of GW dwarfs.

I have a bunch of their plastic undead, and they are on par with the GW Vampire Counts skeletons.

Interestingly enough, Mantic have released their own rule set, written by Alessio Cavatore, no less. They are also bundling both an undead and dwarf army together for release:

Would be nice to keep an eye on this
