I'm on top of it- that was the first (and second) place I thought of!

looking good. i'm a bit confused by the 5 hulltop panels - are they just armour, or hatches? To 'count as' a chimera, it should have at least one top troop hatch, shouldn't it? Anyway, if some/all are hatches, some hinges would be good to make them look more hatch-ish...

I don't think a Chimera needs hatches if he's never going to use them.

That's pretty freaking awesome.

Okay. Update time!

Thanks everyone, for the great comments, really helps to keep me going!

I got a bit bogged down in partying and homework this weekend. (Not mixed, separate...)

But still, some work has been done. I´ve done some shading on the sides and top, and experimented a bit on the pistons, with different metal colors for shade and such.

Also, I´ve thrown on a lot more gear, and added a stripe to the sides of the tank, where unit markings and numbers will go.

Keep in mind that this is one of at least two, hopefully three of these beasties.

Oh, and i did the sliders on the front. I´ll paint these up to look all oily and grimy, and do something similar on the "tunnel" bit.

Anyways, a picture says more than yadda yadda, so here you go.

The stripe on the side. Unit markings will go on here.

More gear to throw on!

Weathering on the white.

[Thumb - More Gear. rear shot.jpg]
Some more equipment for the guys.

And the other side.

[Thumb - Sliders on the Prow.jpg]
And i did the sliders. Obviously this all still needs paint, and weathering.

Wow- great work. I'm still struck by how good the relatively-unornamented angled panels on top look. No rivets, but they totally work that way.

Can't wait to see what this looks like with all the base colors laid down and weathering on the top etc.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Easter Update!

I´ve been having a bit less time for this project than i´d hoped for, due to exams looming closer here. However, some progress is being made (thou cannot stop the imperial guard with exams, wretch!), and i´ve got some more piccies for the people. First up are some shots of the next Chimera in progress, i´ve tried taking more pics of the steps, so in case anyone else wants to have a go at this, feel free.

[Thumb - Step by Step 1.jpg]
All the basic pieces, laid out. As others have mentioned, i trim down the side armor, since i think it looks a bit odd otherwise.

[Thumb - Step by Step 2.jpg]
Another shot of the bits.

[Thumb - Step by step 3.jpg]
First assembly. The bottom bit goes on back to front.

[Thumb - Step by Step 4.jpg]
Second, the top goes on, also back to front. This will not be visible on the final machine, so if you´d rather add some card here feel free.

[Thumb - Step by Step 5.jpg]
The back of the machine, pieces.

[Thumb - Step by step 6.jpg]
The back, assembled, hatch added.

[Thumb - Step by Step 7.jpg]
Bottom front, view of the lining up, bottom to top.

[Thumb - Side by Side.jpg]
The new one next to the first one. Quite a way to go yet...

And secondly, a bit of a look at the next project in line. A chimera-hulled battletank!

I figure on using forgeworld turrets, and hopefully i´ll be going for the low hull look of the Macharius. Single barrel though, this will be a Russ standin.

Undecided on sponsons so far, will have to see how this turns out.
[Thumb - Battle Tank 1.jpg]
Side view. Lots and lots to do still.

[Thumb - Battle Tank 2.jpg]
And another view. All of the plating on the rear is still missing, and i have to scrounge up some engine parts for this baby, but i´m feeling good about it.

The transport turned out GREAT! Don't be surprised if people think it's a Forge World kit. I can't wait to see how your main battle tank turns out!

I had a dream about tanks last night...what a great dream......

Oh, man - that Chimera-chassis battletank looks SWEET so far. I can't wait to see where you take it. I love the lower profile of the Chimera chassis, but I've yet to see a Chimera battle tank conversion that I think looks really sharp - this one may be the one, though!

Please post more in progress pics of the chimera tank. It looks great so far and I cannot wait to see where you are taking it next.

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.

Excellent conversion work there. Kudos.

If I may be so bold as to suggest the Predator turret for your Chimera based Russ. I have a couple of them now and think they work really well.
