The GW fig is not exact, but close enough to be an homage. Very cool.

I really like most of what I am seeing, but I hope that the army book cover posted is a mock up. The cgi looks gaudy, and subpar compared to the old paintings.

Well I can do you one better and give the actual stats instead of a rumour,
though they have been posted like 10 times already, but here you go:

Dwarf Ironbreakers are now wondering why they're Special, or even exist at all.

Course you probably still will see practically no infantry and max Cav, but that's a problem with infantry in general not with Chaos Warriors.

Nah, you don't need spikes to explain attacks from a mount. Warhorses were trained to bite and kick in battle, and even had specific commands to clear enemy infantry from in front of and behind them. A lot of the times the horses did as much (if not more) damage to the enemy as the riders.

That said, all of these are total awesomeness. This is the first set of GW releases in awhile that I am actually excited about. I love the new mounted lord, and I don't even mind the spikes (besides, they'd be easy enough to remove if you wanted). These spikes are more tasteful than GW's usual spiky fare.

The marauder horsemen are nice too. I've got a decent start to a Chaos army lying around in various states of assembly and paintedness, and these releases might push me over the edge into making it a full-fledged army (even without Beastmen)!

I can't wait to see the new knights! The current knights are some of my favorite GW models, and I hope the new ones are just as good or better!

The cover of the book is quite lackluster (especially compared to the last HoC cover, which is one of my favorites), but as long as the rules are good and well-balanced, I won't really care too much about what's on the cover.

Nah, I know, I was being facetious. Heh - from my own experience running a Bretonnian army, I know my knights mounts often did more damage than the knights did.

Seconded. Started painting some Warriors I've had undercoated for years in readiness.

WOW - that lord on Juggernaught looks FANTASTIC.

Any word on how marks may or may not play together?

Can a Lord Of Khorne easily have Nurgle in his army?

Good question!

If they are going to follow the 40K model, the big 4 are all chummy now.

I hope that there is some kind of animosity in there somewhere though...

If that linked post is even 99% accurate, then I may drool over my Chaos more than I did my Dark Elves.

It's a shame I still have some Screamers, Flamers, and Horrors I won't be able to do much with.

Buy 3 boxes of bloodletters, skulltaker and a LOC and you'll have one of the most brutal daemon lists going for about a $150US outlay....

Hmm.....even though I hate the model - I'm sad to see the Chaos Dragon go by the way-side. I really liked the artwork and imagery for it - even if the model makes me want to punch puppies......

What do you mean the Chaos Dragon is going by the wayside? Did I miss something?

Galrauch is a Chaos Dragon, and it looks like he's still included in the book.

I'd be incredibly surprised if they dropped the option for the Chaos Lord to take a Dragon (they do have those lovely High Elf plastic Dragon kits to sell) and as pointed out Galrauch is still in the list.

Oh, you meant the option for a Lord to take a dragon mount (duh!). Well I feel sheepish.

But yeah, I certainly hope they don't remove that option. The link says that Lords are the "same as the WD list." I take it the Lords cant take a dragon mount in the WD list?

Well if that's the case, I really hope they allow it in the book.

They can in the WD list.

Honestly the new rumors make me kind of happy I've been too busy with Warmachine to build the Dark Elf monster army since Chaos might do it better:

Lord on Dragon
(hopefully they keep the item to give it a 3+ Ward from shooting)
2x Mounted Caddies

3x Maurauder Fast Cav
Hounds

2x Chaos Knights
2x Chariots
1x Dragon Ogres

2x Shaggoth

Not sure if it will all fit in that 2250 umbrella, but I have a hankering to make a really good big monster list and this may be it.

Hmm, that's probably good news then, if they can take dragons in the WD list.

Yeah, I'm actually kind of excited about the possibilities of the new Army Book. I guess we'll see what happens when it comes out.

It will be sad that soon the only way to get Daemons on the table is via the Daemon Army list.

I'll miss seeing Greater Daemons mixed in with other forces...

Spearhead is up on GW website:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat1330442&rootCatGameStyle=wh

36 models & army book for $246, on par with the other spearheads.

NICE - those Chaos Warhounds should do nicely as Flesh Hounds of Khorne for my 40K Demons.......

That might be the first Spearhed I've actually got and used.

I believe that is also the last spearhead they're releasing.

Lords can take a dragon mount, but that uses up extra slots.

There's a picture (really small, unfortunately) of the Spearhead box floating around on GW's site now.

Too small to make out many details, but, maybe someone else has a larger pic?
