Sword wielding barbarian women don't have the curves the average super model does. The models face is even somewhat feminine (if craggy). This is all more about the standard of beauty in models rather than realistic female proportions. Wide hips and large thighs don't make you a dude, they just mean you have wide hips and large thighs.

http://www.latinoreview.com/images/user/chun-li.jpg

The models problem is that it doesn't conform to the physically malformed standard of beauty seen in most "warrior women". Killkrazys "elf", other than having broken thighs has the same damn problem most female models in this industry have. The thighs are as thick or thicker then the torso itself. Hot yes, but not really human.

To be fair though, Dark Elves aren't human.

Which is why it's a bad ELF model, not a bad female model. Elves are supposed to be lithe and curvy (yet skinnier then the model you posted). They are also supposed to be sharply featured in the face.

It's a bad portrayal of an elf, but its one of the best female warrior models I've seen GW produce.

Since when is the miniature industry about "realistic" anything? I thought they were supposed to sculpt toy soldiers that look cool. Like metal Conans and chainmail bikini models and fire breathing Trogdors.

Berserkers with their junk hanging out would be more "realistic". Doesn't mean we need the Chaos marauder peen legion. Maybe warrior women would be all fugly and scary. Doesn't mean we need dark elf she-men.

Elves should look graceful and feminine. The men should look like women, not vice versa. That's for orcs! Don't they know their fantasy stereotypes? NERDRAGE!!!!

Srsly.

Rule of cool wasn't what this thread was about though. Personally I don't mind seeing a female warrior figure that doesn't look like a cheerleader with a sword it couldn't possibly hold. It makes the setting more convincing for me.

Rob liefield anatomy was supposed to die with him.

If GW followed Rob Liefeld's school of anatomy, none of their models would have feet.

Or if they did have feet, they'd all be pointy and every woman would walk en pointe.

Once I read a semi-erotic web story about how male elves were very much into gay sex and how female elves adopted manly clothes, cut their hair and bind their breast to be noticed by the guys.
Now I`m sure the guys in charge of the WHFB elf lines read the same thing.

I actually don't buy very many female models, because I think the way they portray women is absolutely ridiculous. Most of them just look fake, really. I think it's really refreshing to see a well-proportioned female miniature, partially because so many look, as ShumaGorath said, like cheerleaders carrying swords they couldn't possibly lift.

That said, I disagree about this mini here. I don't think this model looks very feminine to me, but I think it's primarily the face. The proportions wouldn't be that bad if the face wasn't so horrible (although I do think they could be better). I do agree that it would still be un-elfish though, and would fit better as a female barbarian type, but that would require some other aesthetic changes, obviously. I don't care for the pose either though, as I said before. The way she's holding the sword in her right hand just looks stupid to me.

I don't really see what's wrong with the model, personally. I've contemplated buying it for my own DE army.

The ONLY possible problem I see is the face, and I think that's just how it's painted, without having seen the model. It looks like she's wearing paint or some kind of mask and I can't make out many features at all. :\

...well it's obviously not a mask...maybe just a lot of eyeliner...

Okay. Okay.

You are right. For me though, when I think "hag," a model that looks a bit older comes to mind.

Didn't mean to be rude, I just don't know much about dark elves, or what a Death Hag's supposed to look like.

I agree on the looking older thing. This model looks like it wasn't supposed to be as ugly as it is.

Does GW employ any female sculpters? I'm fairly certain that if they did they could just get the women to prevent such horrible monstrosities from leaving the sculpting stage looking like men.

I have no idea why I think women could better sculpt female pieces though.
