My very thoughts, it is an invaluable source for that. The video almost belongs as a sticky in the mnodelling forums for that reason.

How much is a Rhino supposed to weigh anyway? They must be much bigger than a modern day APC to fit in 10 marines, who aren't light in themselves either.

Somewhere in south-central England.

The 'Rhino' is almost certainly built onto the chassis of an M113 or FV432. Possibly an FV432 since the driver is sitting on the right hand side. Both vehicles are obselescent and have five road wheels and a front drive sprocket.

They have presumably routed the exhaust to the vertical pipes. The side doors will be blanks.

The M113 can carry 2 crew plus 11 infantry, according to Wikipedia, the FV432 is 2+10.

SMs are larger than men, especially when wearing armour, however I have always assumed that the vertical pipes on the Rhino actually are the engines, and supply electric current to the drive motors in the wheels. therefore there is no engine inside the hull and there is more space for troops.

FV432, it says so in the tags for the movie.

The Rhino has four engines yes.

That's definately a scout driving that thing.. too much hair for a real space marine and too small to be 9 feet tall. and there's no way 10 marines are gonna fit in that thing..

Having said all that, that things looks about as close to a rhino as one could get, so my hat's off to him/them.. nice job.

It looked to me like the car was shifting on impact, so they had to retry to get a better angle to climb over the car, that's all.

Actually, they can. Forge World has a diagram of how the ten of them fit into a Rhino in Imperial Armour 2. It takes some squeezing and most of the guys are required to stand but at least they fit.

I want one, once they iron out the major flaws:

1.Driver in the worng spot
2.No storm bolter? What are vthey thinking, what if you get hippies that acvtually run away from the sheer awsomeness
3.Get those ACCESS hatches accessable
4.The chimney stacks abit bigger
5.Needs to come in a variety of chapters
6.Smoke lauches that really launch smoke grenades
7.Dozer blade option for the building sector
8.Has to be able to seat/stand 10 people!! MUST
9.And come with a whole range of options including the supreme upgrade for hunters and the police, Razorback Turret

I'll buy ten thankyou

Maybe you can fit ten Marines in if some sit on the others' laps.

anyhoo, very cool in an incredibly geeky way. And since I am an incredible geek, I of course want one right away. I can see myself tooling up to work in that thing.

It's just an FV432 in drag...

And the way it has to slow down to crush cars is pretty lame... in the books rhinos are supposed to go so fast they can slide round corners and do hand brake turns on hard surfaces...

Oh, you can by a working FV432 for less than £8500 if anyone wants to have one of their own... you just need a mig welder and some steel plates to beef it up a bit.

You can't slide a tracked vehicle round corners because the tracks get ripped off.

Depends on traction and speed. In the right circumstances a tracked vehicle can "drift" and still keep going.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evp6wkFjBAY

It's just not the smartest thing to actually go for as in most cases it will indeed throw a track.

BTW, here is a great video of a MBT (Leopard 2) both drifting and crushing cars.

I am astonished. When I win the lottery, I know now exactly where my money is going. I will have a full size rhino to drive around in. All griping aside about the size being off, remember that in game scale the rhino could not fit a bunch of marines inside of it either. These guys did a great job of capturing the look.
