I'm not stupid, just trying to put things in context.
Thankyou.

Metal T-Hawk was exactly the same way. It was so heavy, the entire length needed to be pinned every few cms if you even wanted to ever pick it up once assembled. The one we had at our store had upwards of 40-50 pins(at least, about half were just long brass rods used as reinforcement all the way done the chassis) in the thing and took 6 months(and 3 separate people since people kept giving up on it) to assemble. Considering it's almost as large as the FW T-hawk, you will NOT find a heavier model done by GW. The only other metal GW model close to its size was the Emperor Dragon and it's a lighter than the T-hawk.

Does anyone actually own one of those [Manta]? I know I'm crazy and own both a Reaver and Wolf FW titans, and I'm amazed that anyone could have that Tau vehicle. Any photos in play?

There is a WIP thread over at advanced tau tactica. Sadly the OP hasn't posted anything in that thread since Nov 2007 and as of the last WIP photo the thing wasn't done. The OP did mention that they knew at least one other person who owned one.

I don't know. I need a better scale for a decent weight. Probably around 2 pounds. Mine nearly killed me (literally) when it fell off a shelf.

Yes it did, I've got scans of the instructions, they repeatedly chide the builder into using brass rod to fortify the pewter during construction. It also came in a wood ammo crate as the retail box, but I don't have any pics of that. At the time it was $650. One of the guys on the old 40K mailing list was bragging about buying three of them to use in their annual BFG's.(which had nothing to do with Battle Fleet Gothic, it was the 2nd edition version of Apocalypse, 40k points a side)
