I mean he can't go, why go to all the trouble to push a conspiracy theory? What is gained by it?

You're right, next time I hear about something that effects the tournement community I wont even bother to bring it up for discussion. I mean, its not like anybody that goes to tournements cares about this at all is it....if they did, we'd have more than 1 or two posts in this thread discussing it.

I think there are a few things going on here:
1. GW designers are supposed to be designing, rather than marketing.
2. GW wants to keep the designers at *their* Official events
3. GW is pushing casual (Apoc) play over RTTs
So that's three strikes against their designers appearing as marketing guys at non-GW RTTs, and all of them affect the bottom line:
1. NEW product
2. GW events
3. Apoc bulk model sales

You keep yammering on about this RELIABLE source, but you have yet to actually fill us in on who they are in the scheme of GW or Adepticon... or anything else for that matter.
Not to be crass, but that's like me saying that your mother, sister, and grandmother all give REALLY good head, and I know this because I was told by a reliable source, ya know?
-useless noise that has nothing really to do with the question posted.
Is it, though? I tend to find that when people are posting such speculation that their own credability needs to be taken into account, especially given that you're claiming that your information and source are "reliable", without actually providing any evidence to support your claims, so I wouldn't call it "useless noise", I'd call it me calling BS at your claims.

What "claims" are you talking about? I'm not making any "claims". I heard something, I posted here since I thought it would be an interesting discussion.
I dunno how my credability needs to be taken into account.

I guess sometimes you just have to bow to the absurd.
Fine, I'll be at Adepticon this weekend...availiable for to be nailed to a cross.
(by the way...If I WAS pointing fingers at anyone, a BIG 'IF', then at least I'm pointing fingers at noone here...simply asking a question about GW)
Don't worry, next time I hear a rumour that I'm trying to get some confirmation on, I guess I'll go to warseer since dakka seems unable to discuss such subjects without a friggin' witch-hunt.

Dude, not being funny but look at your chosen title and opening post.
All we, you, or seemingly your source knows, is that Alessio isn't attending Adepticon this year. The rest? Dunno where that came from. But at least you put the question mark AND clearly stated it was a rumour.

Just to clarify a few inaccuracies :
Alessio is NOT employed as a games designer, nor is he employed on a fulltime basis by GW.
See here. He's been part time with GW for about a year now.
Because he is also running River Horse games as his new venture.
Given that Black Library are attending and seeing as Gav Thorpe and Chris Robeson- who both contract for BL-- are attending I think it's fairly obvious GW have no beef or goal to stop people attending as such. I think Mr. Shane you've been misinformed.
