Zombies
Carried a crowbar and a backpack full of supplies with me for six months when it got really bad. I slept in the bed with the crowbar and stuff like that. It's something that I want to happen, but I'm terrified I'll be eaten alive in the initial outbreak. It's an odd night when I don't have two or three zombie related dreams. It's just a kind of dread that constantly follows me.
I know it's kind of a 'funny' phobia, or a cool geeky one but it really isn't fun or funny sometimes. I really hate zombie 'flash mobs' that gak isn't funny.

You'll get over it. Remember that zombie outbreaks in movies and games are somewhat far-fetched. The only good zombies are zombies that come from Necromancy. Way cool.

I only have a fear of spiders.
Phobias are irrational fears. If you've seen our spiders, then you would understand that being afraid of them is QUITE rational.
We have spiders that chase YOU (and can kill you).
The same spiders will quite happily live on the bottom of a (full) swimming pool and walk out several days later.
They will survive being placed in the freezer, only being royally peeved when they thaw out (the first (living) thing they see will die the death of a hundred bites.
They get MORE aggressive the higher the ambient temperature. So Northern Aussie funnel webs are really bad news.

For me it's flying.
Flying never bothered me as a child or teenager, in fact I used to love it. My parents were divorced and Dad went out to CA while Mom stayed here in IL. Flew out to see him by myself once a year on average. I felt like a world traveler!
The last few times though I've been a nervous wreck. Any turbulence freaks me out. I listen intently for noises that are out of order (its a good thing I've flown enough to know the regular noises a plane makes). I think a lot of it is because the nation's fleet of aircraft is getting older. I worry about the plane going down because of structural failure or some other catastrophic malfunction.
Also, to a much lesser extent, a fear of extreme heights. But my fear is very specific to not having something to hold on to. The Sears Tower for example. Most of the windows on the observation deck are floor to ceiling glass. I won't get close to them because I feel like they'll pop out and I'll get sucked out with them. Now the John Hancock building has a nice handrail to hang on to in their ob. deck and I'm quite comfortable there.

Eastern Funnel web spider is the main one (Atrax Robustus).
Found (on the east coast of Aus) from the tip of Cape York (up north) to Wilson's promontory (southernmost mainland tip) and out beyond the Great Dividing Range (Main Eastern continental mountain range, pretty much the reason why our big cities are all on the outside of it.) to 'the bush'/outback. Aggressive as all get-out, and bites repeatedly. No such thing as overkill for them, only "it's still moving" and "it's turning black and shrivelling up - better bite it again to make sure".
I don't think we've had a (reported) fatality from it in years, though on account of most hospitals stocking the antivenom.
We also have some pretty bad snakes (on par with Funnel-webs for aggression).

Thank goodness for cold Tasminian weather. We have very few poisonous things around here. The most dangerous are copperhead and tiger snakes, but they're pretty tame.

Heights, water, motorcycles. No vehicle should go over on its side when it turns. I've heard it said that the reason people have phobias is because of traumatic deaths they experienced in previous lives. I must have driven a motorcycle off a cliff into the ocean. Perhaps that's why I stay in Kansas, despite the suckitude.

As I have explained before, I am really, really scared of immunisation needles. But a far worse phobia is that of knives. My hands tremble whenever I pick up a knife. It probably has something to do with my dad dying from being stabbed.
Well my friend it seems that you have what we call a blood injection-injury-phobia!!! A cure if you can call it that is to contact a cognitive-behaviorist therapist who will train you in 'Systematic Desensitization.' To prepare for this I would advise yourself to prepare a hierarchy of fears, meaning range from 0-100 which particular fears or situations your ok with to the ones which you fear out right. Again you cant really get rid of a phobia by itself. If this is a prominent phobia you will more than likely have to engage in Applied tension technique.
do you experience any physical sensations when exposed to the stimuli? heart palpitations ect. how long have you had this fear?

Dont worry my friend. We in the psychology world would say that you have a rational fear hear. it is known as prepared classical conditioning!!! ie in genetics we are embedded to avoid fearful stimuli in order to avoid death. since there is no physical sensations or practice of negative reinforcement(you still fly) your ok.

+1.
I don't so much fear them (I live in Canberra), but we do get FREAKING HUGE Redbacks (found one with an arse an inch across once), but they can give a fair bit of a fright when they crawl over your foot
Big hunstmen, but nothing that isn't seen elsewhwere in Oz, big Wolf Spiders, Mouse Spiders, and White Tails *shudders*
I HATE White Tails. THEY scare the hell out of me. They bite, and it hurts, and it itches, and it gives migranes. NOT COOL.

For some reason during my child hood i love riding planes ( used to like the toys and food on it ) But as i grew older i start hating the idea of being so many miles into the air.
I also fear height as well, sometimes playing video game climbing on high places make me nauseous. ( Half Life 2 bridge area >< )

Oh, earlier I forgot needles. I am like totally scared of them.
When I was younger I used to literally run away from the doctor or nurse when I needed shots.
I had a tetanus recently and bit my lip to keep from freaking out, and then my arm was numb for a week from the stupid shot...all my fears came true...

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands
Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.

I can understand a fear of needles, personally I enjoy the feeling when you get a shot of novacain to the gums. It burns and stings, but it feels good oddly enough.

Chalk another one up for needles. I tend to get the wrong end of the fight/flight reflex when I so much as see a syringe lying unattended on a shelf, much less having one aimed at me. I'm not terribly afraid of death, hey, it happens, but I do not want to drown and I do not want to burn; something about those fates terrifies me. Even seeing characters drown in movies (007 Casino Royale pops immediately to mind) is enough for a couple of nights worth of unpleasant things going through my brain.

I'm morbidly facinated by spiders. I love looking at them, but if they come near me then I squeal like a nancyboy.
I'm really, really scared of logging trucks. I can't drive behind them at all. I'd rather pull over and wait for 30 minutes than drive behind them. I was once stuck behind one on a mountain pass and I nearly burst out crying. Luckily my girlfriend was there to talk me through it.
And watching surgery on TV makes my skin crawl. I nearly walked out of the cinema during Saw 3 when they drilled a hole in Jigsaw's brain. ARGH!
Oh, and Down Syndrome people make me want to run away. I get the giggles and have this urge to claw at my face whenever one walks into our shop. I run to the back office and have to stay there for a while to steady my nerves.

I feel somewhat the same way...I have very few problems with wounds, particularly as I tend to garner more than my fair share, but seeing a healed surgery scar gives me a case of the lesser creepie-crawlies.
