DE, because they revil in being evil.

Tyranids & Orks are both built to be killing machines so they aren't evil per se

I considered the Imperium but then thought against it because they are the way they are out of necessity. In 40k it's everyone trying to kill everyone, the Imperium is just really blunt about it in their indoctrination. What race in this game isn't trying to wipe out and/or enslave every other one? The Eldar and that's about it.

Let's face it, in the grim, dark blah blah everyone's kind of a d**k.

If you consider the 'nids just to be the Hive Mind all on his (her?) lonesome, then yes, they're quite evil.

I lol'd at the Eldar with just one vote.

I was going for a Dante-esque view of evil. And besides, why should Chaos be less evil just because they worship something that is deemed to be more deserving than worshiping someone on a tomb/toilet. Also, isn't the reasoning for the Emperor being there justification for worship. Because I thought it was because he defeated Horus, a traitor, but sustained horrible injury.

Nids: Kill you and bring you into the hive to use you to kill more things.

Necron and Nids are the worst.

Necron are lead by C'tan, which are pretty evil. I mean, they convinced an entire race to give up their souls and free will so that their bodies could live forever as fighting death machines. Sounds pretty evil to me.

Nids just kill and kill and kill and kill. Their prime drive is kill and that is it. Destroy planet, take all biomass, move on until the entire galaxy is devoured.

Nids and Necron, evil and kickin' ass.....

The thing I see about Tyranids is that they do it out of necessity to survive. No more biomass means no more Nids, which drives the Nids to kill more. It is more of an annoying menace than evil.

Also, shouldn't evil be defined. I view it as that the thing being evil has the knowledge of what it is doing, knows of an alternative that is better, then doesn't care. Because honestly, all of the races could potentially be evil in a sense, but they all have plausible ramifications for what they are doing.

The Orks cannot help it in the slightest, they did not evolve or get themselves to the place where they are today, they were created. They are simply abiding by their original 'programming' to be utterly aggressive, it's in their nature.

I would definately say that the Tyranids are not evil, they are just as evil as a disease, they simply just follow their animal instincts. Possibly they have some more sinister scheme behind them with the hive minds (like the Necron and Tau do with the Ethereals and C'tan).. but that hasn't been made clear to us yet.

The Dark Eldar on the other hand are sadistic and twisted beyond comparison. They torture, enslave, and murder just for the plain fun of it, there is no more evil than them.. except for some of the chaos gods.

I also believe that Imperium is quite like NAZI germany at the decline of world war 2. So does that make them evil also?

LOL, it's quite a difficult question.. considering that there are not any 'nice' races out there to begin with.. quite a bleak outlook on the future..

chaos is evil, they kill people form humans to aliens, they worship chaos gods which are the really just emotions. the CSM are evil.
Dark Elder are also evil but they do it out nescesitiy. there entire socitey is built on the idea of "better you than me".
nercons didn't really know they were going to be enslaved by the C'tan besides the process dimmed there senses and probably dont know right from wrong anymore.
tyranids are just trying to survive... to survie forever
tau are trying to end all wars by bringing everyone into a single belief.
Elder are just trying to survive.
Orks are doing what they where programmed to do as said already
Imperium are bad but not evil, sure they lie through there teeth to the people but they are trying to protect humantity, sure they whant to kill everybody else but hey isnt everother race (not including elder)
So that is my idea of evil races
but there could be more evil races which dont have models for them... its a big universe.

Necrons voluntarily gave up their souls to follow the C'tan. They always desired long life and immortality, and in their weakness the C'tan saw an opening. Necrons are not Undead Living Metal death machines who will destroy all life just because the C'tan command it.

Necrons might not be evil anymore, but their leaders are.

Now with Nids, assuming the Hive Mind is sentient, they are evil. If they are just surviving they would not be considered evil at all, but since it is hinted at that the Hive Mind knows what it is doing. Then I consider them one of the greatest evils. Killing and assimilating races into the killing machine against their will. Evil.

Orks are not evil at all, just ignorant.

Eldar are actually one of the better groups.

Imperium is dark and bad yes, they are racist and kill all Xeno. But they are also attempting to survive with no clear cut leader. I cant blame them for being suspicious in the 40k Universe.

Tau, Ethereals are creepy. I do not like them, they got something up their sleeve.

With the others, Chaos and Dark Eldar, a little obvious they are made to be bad guys.

Eldar might be the best..........actually I don't know.

Dark Eldar who don't act evil/kill/maim/whatever will have their souls consumed by chaos cods. They do not have wraithbone/spirit stones/craftworlds to save their souls from being consumed so for some reason being really sick and twisted saves them from being consumed. That is what I mean by they are evil out of necessity, not by choice. They have to preform those types of acts in order to avoid consumption. Wether it justifies it or not is a different question.

The Tyranids are the worst in this. They do not serve a cause, they do not distiguish self, they do not negotiate, they are not moved by hope, passion, dedication, emotion, they do not know freedom or slavery... In a binary universe view, us and them, them is everything not Tyranid. They are clearly the worst.

Furthermore Tyranids are extra gallactic. That means they came from beyond the realm of the known. They may already have consumed evey other galaxy anmd every other dimension in all of creation for all the inhabitants of the 40k galaxy know. This also makes them the worst.

All the sentient races in warhammer should band together and exterminate and forever guard against the Tyranids, by fighting eachother they may simply be speeding along what is already innevitable.

I dont think the Tau are EVIL. They just want to have a presence in the universe. They believe they can bring something better to the galaxy and will stop at nothing to bring the Greater Good to everyone. they don't WANT to kill, they just want to spread the Greater Good. If that means killing (who they see as) evil ones who aim to deny others the Glory that is the Greater Good, then so be it. So they're not evil per se, just zealous.

I've also come to realise they're kinda communist. i should pick up some red paint :-P

The Imperium is just as bad as Chaos as I see it, they've got that totalitarian fascist feeling to them, besides they're also incredibly bigoted. Dark Eldar are probably the nastiest though.

Well they're not EXACTLY communist. but they have some similar ideas. I was just making a joke.

Either way I still maintain that the Tau are no more evil than any empire/nation/group that wants to expand. If you say anyone who tries to expand and says " join us or die" you pretty much condemn every empire EVER. (Greek, British, Persian, Alexander, etc)

Dark Eldar, way back when, the Eldar had a choice, craftworld or sadism. The dark eldar have followed that choice with a gusto, activly choosing themselves over all others. I know that they don't want to get eaten by slaneesh, but whats to stop them from going to their craftworld breatheren and asking for help?

I almost can't believe that Dark Eldar and Chaos are tied. Chaos have evil demons and gods.

I am totally surprised that Tau have more votes than Eldar or even Orks.

Having a evil leader ( chaos gods ) doesnt always mean chaos marine are evil. ( some are just sick of the emperor's follower )

Tyranids are not evil anymore then we humans are.

We raise animals , keep them alive and we slaughter them.

Yes the Tau are evil but a kinder gentler version of evil and the original question was about the most evil race.

In the short story Hive Fleet Horror by Barrington J. Bayley a pysker reads a tyranid mind and from that he finds out that tyranids are just evloved bugs that have only one instinct, to survive forever, they dont reconise emotions or intelligence. the nids take on biomass from new planets so they "regenerate" there own DNA so they can survive.
So i don't think the nids are evil, they wouldnt even reconise evil if it slaped them in the face, they would just eat it
