I swear a lot when things start going poorly. Thankfully, being British it's more amusingly frustrated swearing, but it;s still not best practice.
For example, my Warboss on Wyvern charged some Dryads. I had 7 S77 attacks, hitting on 3's, 4 S6 Poisoned attacks also hitting on 3's, and I promptly only kill two, the remaining Dryads pimp slap the Warboss to death for his insolence, and the next turn, the Wyvern gets bummed to death off a Treeman, prompting from 'fornicationsticks' at every point of suckitude.

My biggest bad habit is playing really slow, and to top that off for some crazy reason I always play horde armies that make my movement phase be 3x longer than normal.

Sometimes I forget to tell people what I'm rolling, or what I'm shooting at sometimes. I'll remember or be reminded once the dice are cast and declare it then, but it seems to annoy people. Well it's not like I'm going to change what the lasguns are shooting at just because they rolled well! But I can understand the frustration.
I also tend to sulk a tad (not overly much) when things start going ploin-shaped. You'd think I'd have gotten over that with how often I lose (95% of the time...).
Oh and lately I've actually been having a turn of luck and will occassionally have an exceptional shot. From this I've developed a new bad habit. I'll pat the successful soldier on the head and tell him he did a good job. It seems to offput some people. I'm just worried it seems like gloating, when really I'm just proud my men finally learned how to shoot.

Depends on how often and what you do witht he pictures. If you write up good-looking battle reports I'd probably put up with a lot of being asked to clean the board.

When playing against fresh faces, at a new store, or in a tourny, I get quiet. The only words that I'll say are simple responses to questions, and declaring what Im doing. This hobby is very social, and when I'm playing a game against someone who I dont know, in order to avoid overstepping personal boundaries and to not look like a douche I just keep my mouth shut.
When im playing a game with close friends at home or at a local store that I frequent often I tend to curse a LOT and make lots of crude jokes, nothing harsh or violent, just very very dirty. This has gotten me in trouble a couple of times when young kids would walk in while I was not looking.

Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? I hold memorials for my dead. Play taps for each and every one of them. I have little orkish flags which I drap over their bodies before depositing them in the army case.
Seriously - when the dice go bad I get in a funk and am not the happiest person to be around.

1.) I like to keep a dip of Skoal in while I play. I have never had a spill, but I know it could happen someday. I don't bother to ask if somebody minds, but I probably should since spitting in a cup every 5 minutes is probably gross to some people.
2.) I also take a little longer than is necessary during the movement phase, but I speed through the other phases so I very rarely finish a game later than expected.
3.)Another bad habit is that I play with a bunch of dice and am constantly hauling them across the table.

Man I do that ALL the time. I'm always a little surprised I know an army that I haven't ever used, better than someone who uses it as their primary army. It can get a bit annoying when the other person refuses to accept that fact, too. I try not to mention it now unless it's giving them a stupid advantage.
My favorite response when I prove them wrong "They changed that, it used to be something else". Sometimes that's even true!

Reecius wrote:Mine, hands down, is bitching about my bad luck when the dice turn on me. In a friendly game I laugh it off, but in a game I want to win, I get bitchy.
I swear I develop turrets and start cursing uncontrollably. I know it has to make the game less enjoyable for my opponent. I apologize as I don't want them to think I am mad at them, but I know it makes me look bad.
Example: I was going undefeated in a recent tournament, and ran into an unbelievable string of bad luck. It was a kill point game and after some just god awful rolling for the first four turns, I lost because I took two wounds on my master of the forge and rolled snake eyes on his armor save (he has a 2+ save). There went the game, 3 kill points to 2. I kicked a chair half way across the room! It was embarrassing.
That is the one thing I would change about myself if I had a magic wand.
How about some other Dakkaites?
I missed you kicking the chair... I was on the table next to Reecius at this game and in his defense, NOTHING was going his way, even a little bit.
Anyway, my "bad" habit is playing with my dice. Not really that bad but I tend to drop them, a lot, and then I have to hunt around on the floor for the missing dice as they scatter all about the room. This usually happens several times per game.

Ozzy is a pleasure to play against, really nice guy. And congratz on the 2nd place finish in the tournament! He pulled that off with Dark Angels and only lost to a tough Ork list by 20 victory points!
You develop turrets? this some sort of wierd obliterator virus or something? (ideas come to mind for an Emporers Children oblit conv involving speakers and an iPod loaded with expletives)
Hahahaha, that was a good one! I look at the keyboard when I type, old bad habit, and I missed that I had written the wrong word. I know though, what do I do, turn into a tank when I get mad?
That might actually be a pretty sweet super power, like the hulk, just less green!

Sometimes I 40k my Warmachine, or Warmachine my 40k.
In Warmachine, I'll start moving everyone at once instead of the moving and then taking an action for each unit individually... as if I was performing a movement phase from 40k.
In 40k, I'll move and then shoot with an individual unit instead of moving everyone in the movement phase.
I don't do this as much any more.
Another way I'd mix things up is call difficult terrain (40k) rough terrain (Warmachine) and vice versa.
And don't get me started on how I get stuff from Star War Miniatures mixed up with these games....

My worst habit is that I often don't pay attention to my opponent.
Like, if it's not my turn, I'll talk to other friends or drink or eat something or listen to my iPod or go on the interweb. I only play friendly games though.

If it's a game at my apt, I smoke way too many cigerettes during my opp. turn. I also end up drinking more beers.
I'm also a dice nazi, they must be arranged in colored groups, and away from the actual game. I have a habit of moving my opps dice with out asking.

I curse. A lot. And being in the buckle of the bible belt, that is generally Frowned Upon. Most of the players and customers don't mind, but the store owner has a short list of rules WELL posted that have been there for more than a decade. The first one is about language, and it is generally referred to as the Rob Rule. Rob being me.
I had a buddy of mine from the store introduce me to his ne SO as "You rememebr I told you about the Rob Rule? This is Rob." I was mortified because it was absolutely true.
I chewed someone out full-bore once about a dozen years ago, and when I was done a third party came up to me and said, "Did you know you just cursed a blue streak for seven minutes at high speed; without repeating a single phrase?" Again with the mortification.

I don't mind it when people cuss during a game, but it can cross the line pretty quick. Dropping the F-bomb when you succed, ok. Dropping it when you just failed a bunch of saves and followed by other choice words, not ok.
