I believe the proper response to that is: "Whoopty Freakin Do".

I can "convert" a command squad from all the bits I'd get from the Russ and the normal IG bits. When I look at building armies I look at raw cost saving potential. They charge too much to do so otherwise, IMO.

I based my Eldar army around 4 Battleforces...4 Wave Serpents, 2 full squads of DA's. Granted, this was 4th.

I used the Guardians and War Walkers when I didn't feel like playing Mech.

Yea, but only like 230 pts worth of stuff. The whole box is literally ONE Troops choice + a sentinel.

The Bretonnian one is rather crap. The only thing you really want from it is the Knights box and the Pegasus box. The other two are good for looks but not much else.

While thats true , its still a good buy since it can be made into 2 veteran squads as bare necessity to field.

Look on Ebay for some of the 1500 point army strike forces...both the SM and CSM ones are really good deals, ~185 bucks for $300+ worth of stuff. And unlike the battle forces all the stuff is actually useful.

Are all the boxes of the same region when you look at it point-wise?

no i think its based on these factors:

how much they are worth when in their separate boxes
will they fit into the new smaller battale force boxes

The Ravenwing Boxset seriously.

6 Bikes, an Attack bike, and a landspeeder. All for 90 bucks. 6 Bikes alone are 15 bucks a piece.

6 Bikes = 90 bucks

Landspeeder = 30 bucks

Attackbike = 30 bucks

Yes, when they all jump anywhere from 5% to 66%, making a lot of them worthless.

But I'll throw my hat in for the Ravenwing and Tyranid Boxes. I kickstarted my 'Nid army with Tyranid Boxes, an extra box of Warriors, an extra couple of boxes of Gaunts, and three Carnifex body sprues (back when you could still order them). Great box. The Genestealers are just gravy after that.

The Ork box is pretty nice. The price - until June - essentially gives you one free Trukk for every two you buy. If I was ever going to play Orks I wouldn't bother with boying Boyz or Trukks separately. I'd just buy 8 or so Battleforces. That'd be enough Orks to do several full units and have enough spares to swap out as Rokkits Boyz or Big Shootas or whatever.

....are you kidding me? ever heard of the peasant army of doom?

besides that, theres always archers (which are suprisingly made of win instead of peasant flesh) and 10 man units of M@A for meatshields for knights.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

Kinda.

I anticipate GW to bump pricing on boxed sets a lot, while bumping Battleforces & Battalions somewhat less, and army "deals" very little.

Thus, by the power of GW's new math, Battleforces & Battalions will become proportionally better values, and army will become actual "deals".

And not only that, by the power of chasing the highest currency forex rates, you won't be able to save much buying via grey market.

So, the answer is...

Buy now, because you won't have these savings come the "realignment" in June!

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Forget the 5 saved, there is better sciteria than that. IMHO the best deal is the Necron boxset, simply because if you buy two and get a Lord blister (or convert a bot if you are feeling cheap) you have an complete army there and then.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

No, I refuse to buy now. It's too easy to buy more later after you've bought something now.

As a few others have said Ravenwing is the best forsure. You get all the Dark Angeles bits which you can put on other stuff if you want to make normal space marine bikes.

The new Cadian IG Battleforce box went down in savings/value.

Whereas it was
LRBT = $50
2 squads = $35
Heavy Weapons Team x3 = $35(?)
Total $140(!)

Now
Sentinel = $25
Command Squad = $25
2 squads = $44
Heavy Weapons Team x3 = $35(?)
Total $129

Only $11 difference, but mainly due to the increase in price for a single 10man squad ($22, seriously?)

Although I dont mind the sentinel that much, the increase in squad price irritates me with how many I need. Aside from that, the heavy weaps are the same, and the command squad is now all plastic and comes with spec weaps.

But without those 10man squads coming with spec weapons the price is unjustififed.....but I digress....

I agree with Voodoo Boyz, i was saving up to buy the brettonian battalion when they changed it and took away 2 pegasus knights, but they did give you one extra men at arms, but i rushed down to my local gw and managed to grab an old one with 3 knights, i was really happy.

If at first you dont succeed; Your not playing with Guard!!!

For points values alone I've always liked the Ogre Kingdoms Battalion.

I tried the Therian theme recently on my necrons ...
it wont work unless you have orange / red color plastic rods

The green one just totally ruins the Therian color scheme

Therian Necrons, you need to shift the orange to brown / tin bitz and the red to green, and it should do OK.

You can't just copy the scheme as-is.

Or rather, not anymore, now that we're out of the "red" era of GW painting...
