I understand that Chaos Legions are a vital part of the Chaos mythos but they really need to develop the 'idea' of the Chaos army beyond the CSM legions and Daemons. And I'm not talking about just adding a LatD army list to the game.
IMHO, a "Chaos" codex should allow players to field a full (mortal) army of Chaos. Yes, you should be able to play a purely CSM army if you want, but these guys should really be few and far between in the galaxy, even less than regular SMs as they don't have enough new recruits (or the tech) to replenish their losses (even including new SM elements that go renegade). The 'typical' Chaos army should include a few CSMs that are super bad-ass (as they've lived for thousands of years and are powered by Chaos as well) flanked by crazy cultists and mutants and backed up obscenely cool Daemon engines like those Forgeworld is finally putting out.

Good work sir!
If I owned any Chaos armies I would totally buy a bunch of those models as well.
You know those drones have just enough wacky looking gun barrels on the front to perfectly fit as 'counts-as' Obliterators! If some Nurgle player had a bunch of those as his obliterators I would somehow feel so much better when playing against him even as I got my butt handed to me.

yeah,
Yak, they are a bit big for obliterators, bigger than a deadnought.
I'll try using them as is,in friendly games.
Doesn't seem broken the 125pt rumoured price for the drones gets you a fast skimmer 12/10/10 with a maw canon with phlem and tonuge. I think that a cool kit bash could be the drones or the bloodslaughter and a defiler kit bashed together a cool defiler/soul grinder.

Didn't you get the memo? Space marines go renegade ALL the time. In fact it's like their 3rd favorite thing in the universe to do after 1) flipping out and 2) screaming baldly. So there's like totally super lots of renegade chaos space marines, even more than renegade guardsmen (since guardsmen like to do other stuff like go on dates with girls, going renegade is way down on their list of favorite things to do and that's why they only go renegade if there's an Apocalypse).
I think you are missing the whole point of Chaos. Chaos exists solely to allow GW to sell another space marine army. Making them "different" eliminates their whole purpose for being! Here's the Chaos Design Concept:
1. Take existing best-selling space marine army (easy).
2. Add spikes (easy).
3. New army!
Perhaps you're familiar with the Space Wolves Design Concept or the Blood Angels Design Concept? Well the Chaos Design Concept is very similar. They are all variations of the same fundamental concept underlying like 90% of GW's "ideas".

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

But Yakface made a damned fine arguement and has swung me.

yeah,
rumors over on BOLS
Nurgle Blight Drone: 125 Points
Fast, Skimmer
Front:12 Side:11 Rear:10
BS:2
WEAPONS
Maw Cannon
-Vomit: S:6 AP:4 Assault 1, Template
-Phlegm: 36" S:8 AP:4 Assault 1, Large Blast
Reaper Autocannon: 36" S:7 AP:4 Heavy 2, Twin-linked
Special Rule
Treat all Destroyed "Wrecked" results as Destroyed "Explode"
I can't wait for these!!!
BS:2 is a little disappointing.
But The main weapons are blast/template and reaper antocannon's twin linked..
So thinking about it I don't think it's actually that bad.
Plus It's a fast skimmer so it can move up to 12" and still fire the maw cannon!
Infantry won't want to be taking these out in hand to hand combat knowing that they Pop!
I like these stats, they don't seem under/over powered/costed.
Can anyone confirm these stats, or have a link the data sheet?
It would be awesome if they can be taken in squadrons!
One of the things I always thought forge world should do is provide data sheets with their products.
Having to buy a whole Imperial Armour book to get the rules for one unit must harm sales?

It's overpriced in the usual FW manner. There are better things for 125. It's not terrible, but the BS2 does hamper it (good thing it has a template weapon).
Honeslty for 100 flat these things would be worthwhile and fun, rather than what they are currently now which is just fun (and kinda gross... but that's Nurgle for you!).

yeah,
But concidering a tooled up landspeeder is about 100pts, and it's 10/10/10.
I think 125pts for a tooled up 12/11/10 FastSkimmer is possibly cheap?
Plus Nurgle has very little by way of fast attack...

I think they are an awesome addition to a nurgle army. The maw cannon and 12 armor makes it a pretty cheap addition to the army and isnt it a fast attack slot? Thats something that nurgle was lacking in with a choice.

I put one of my Dreadnoughts between my 3 Soul Grinders and unfortunately the Dread is just over half the size of a Soul Grinder so it would probably be a bit small for a count as Soul Grinder
