I absolutley love Dune. You sir have brought it to life and the attention to detail left me stunned. Those that have not read the book should do so because the movie just cannot do it justice.

Woah. Those models are simply phenomenal, some of the best conversions/scratchbuilds that I've ever seen.

Now, not meaning to offend you if you are a purist, but have you considered looking at the video game Emperor: Battle for Dune? There are a lot of defined appearances for Atreides, Harkonnen, Fremen, Sardaukar, Tleilaxu, Navigators, and these two other factions which I think are only in the games; House Ix (not sure if they're game-exclusive, actually) and House Ordos, a new House of the Lansraad.

And those Sardaukar are awesome. Will you be doing some Harkonnen soon?

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

That's awesome. I'm reading Dune for a second time, and I was thinking about how cool a Dune based army would be the other day. Seems that someone has already beaten me to the chase. Awesome work. Frank Herbert would be proud.

Having seen these in person (battle for the shrine) I must say the pictures, don't really do them justice, the detailing on the worms alone are mind-boggling.

I almost wanna do a dune Harkonen army and have an epic struggle for supreme control of the desert planet (of which I would lose)

You know what I've recently discovered doing my fallout inspired wasteland traitor guard army, is that the Inquisitoral allies rules make for GREAT places to stuff in fun and fluffy conversions, with so many unique options!

I just wanted to say these things are still amazing!

I'm Impressed... the thopter in particular is wonderfull I had started reading and wondered how you would convert a Valkire, but you topped that easily, and remained true to the feel, acomplishing what -none- of the movies have.

Without getting into the characters, there are -some- possibilities you could extend the army with, Callaidus/Face Dancers, Perhaps some converted sisters for the Bene Gessersit or if you're that much later in the time line, the Fish Speakers..

<Rarity> I am not whining, I am complaining! Do you want to hear whining?

Thiiis is whiiiiining! Oooo, this mini is too expeennsive! I'm' going brrookee! Can't you make it cheaper? Oh, it's resin and not metal anymore! Why didn't you take it off the sprue first? That's gonna leave a pour spout, and the FLGS is so far away, WHY DO I HAVE TO SUPPORT IIIIIIIT?! </Rairty>

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Your army is so fantastic that my computer had to protect me by blocking out all the images from about half way down the thread onwards :(

Fantastic work... I have never seen an army so completely altered.

There seems to be a lot of buzz going on about Dune Emperor, Dune 2000, the Dune miniseries, other factions and whatnot.

Let me answer all, or as many as possible, now.

A. Dune Emperor and Dune 2000: Phenomenal games, great design. Terrible butchery of Dune...quite awful. I loved the ingenuity of the game designers, but almost EVERYTHING was straight up made up.

a. House Ordos is real- they are briedly mentioned in the Dune encyclopedia, but never in the books. Their symbol was a cobra and they were indeed 'chinese' originally. Likewise, they were weapon smugglers and a house 'forbidden.' Were I to model them, they would have to be allies of some sort, maybe sisters of battle with heavy flamers (bio weaponry).

b. House Ix and the Bene Tleilax are quite real- I have also considered incorporating them but have yet decided how. As well as fluff, I want this army to playable and as we all know allies are tricky business. I would use death cult assassins as face dancers or possibly inquisitors (Tleilaxu Masters) with retinue (face dancers). As for the Ix, they are very very very different than in the game. In the books, house Ix is more like a radio shack than a respectable force- instead providing clever and dangerous machines to the highest bidder.

c. House Harkonnen: I would never incorporate those slimy bastards into my force. As a fremen/atreides army, the mere sight of the tyrannous Harkonnen would make any of my soldiers (Except for 3rd stage guild navigator Fentan) draw their blades. I have considered a separate force of IG to use as harkonnen, however, relying greatly on penal legion to represent the infamous Harkonnen pit slaves (which Gurney Halleck was at one point).

B. Bene Gesserit: I love the BG, but finding the right rules for them would be insanely difficult. BG's should be better than Fremen (BT Initiates) in combat, yet quick and able to dart around. Since my Fedaykin already take up that slot, I need something insanely fast and dreaded in cc. I first though of grey knights because of their combat prowess, but they aren't exactly quick if you know what I mean. Granted they can often deep strike in, but that's not really fluffy or what I'm going for... I did consider bringing a sister superior with acolytes as an inquisitor, but we'll have to wait and see.

Best, Klaus.

IDK I could have gone insane for a while there or some such.

Hm I'll have to see if I can check that, but from what I remember Fremen are of middle eastern/ indoeuropean descent (thus the heavy reliance upon arabic). They also are desert folk, and as we know from our own world, desert folk CANNOT be fair skinned and red headed... however I'll keep looking for answers. Also, remember Chani isn't pure Fremen- she's the daughter of Dr. Kynes the Planetologist, an off worlder.

The thing is the fremen were not from dune, they migrated many times. A red haired person who moves to the desert will remain red haired, and genes would act the same way.

Hold on, let me get back to Strongbad, Marx, Jack Black, Keith Moons, Muad'dib, Bruce Dickinson, Dr.Tran, Pete Townsends, The Vault Dweller, and the Muffin Man.

Fantastic work! As a fellow Dune-head and fellow count-as player, I love all the little touches and how well you've thought everything through. Are those water rings I saw on one of your characters?

Personally, I prefer more of a robed look for Fremen as opposed to the look in the Lynch film. But it's hard to argue with anything you've done here. Duncan Idaho is ace, bTW.

Thanks for noticing! Yes those are indeed water rings- I needed something to represent chaplains with as they are a big part of the black templar army. The Naib was an obvious choice for my marshal, as they are both leaders, and Duncan was beyond perfect for the emperor's champion (since he was Leto II's and Paul's swordmaster). However the chaplain was sort of a mid ground character- and Fremen society is actually fairly egalitarian. The only other named class of Fremen (aside from Fedaykin) which I can remember was the water master- the most trusted and wise among the Fremen (aside from the naib, of course). To represent his duty I gave him some water rings along his chest as sort of a nod to the sietch stil and the entire water based culture.

Best, Klaus.

You also left out the Sayyadina, but I'm not sure how you would have included them anyway, as BTs don't have librarians. Though now you have another modeling possibility!

Dude that's rad. Rad to the max! I meant to post this earlier but I accidentaly said your name out loud and it blew up my laptop. Everytime I look at your worms I can actually hear that sweet ass song that's playing at the end of the movie when they're all riding them into that fortress and those one dudes are like - "Oh man get the hell outta here! They're riding giant worms dude!" pew pew pew!

That part was awesome.

...Anyways, your models are an excellent execution of your theme. VERY well done!
