I've been thinking about this and I'm not sure how one could get 5k points in one FOC, but...

For Orks one could go dual nob bikers, maxed out (some 1500 points with war bosses), three maxed out elite squads (lootas, burnas, kommandos, all same points) at 675, Six maxed out shoota mobs at another some 1500 points, three maxed out biker mobz (fits the fluff of bikes) at about 1,000 and three maybe BW's with killkannons or something like that, eithe rway max of HS is 500.

so, 1500 + 675 + 1500 + 1000 + 500 = 5175, or somewhere around there, So I guess it is possible.

Personally I would go for a Valkyrie-heavy IG army and wire the commander's Valkyrie with speakers to play flight of the Valkyries when I bring htem on the field.

Something like
5x 15 man blood claw packs
1x 10 man grey hunter packs
3x new assault cannon land raiders
3x 8 mand blood claw biker packs
7x venerable dreadnoughts (HQ)
2x venerable dreadnoughts (elites)
1x wolf scout pack

thats approx 4500 points without upgrades, fills the FOC with 6 troops, 7 (required) HQ, 3 heavy support, 3 Fast Attack, 3 Elites.

You're thinking too small here (for points), although the overall free model count starts shrinking fast if you do it right: Why stop with two squads of cheese, when you can have FIVE?

2x Warboss on Bike: ~ 150 (300)
5x Nob Bike squad: ~625 (3125)
3x Warbiker squad: ~1000

We're at 88 models and around 4500 points already, with about 500 points in the contest giveaway to grab up to 4 troops and 3 heavy support -- Maybe fill the backfield with Gretchin and Big Gunz?
Or for a kick, this would be one time that I'd kinda like to see some pimped out Flash Gitz (although if they use those guys and their upgrades to fill the promise of "We'll send you 5000 points", that's kinda dirty...) Wouldn't even begin to be able to quote the cost of a pimped Flash Gitz squad right off hand (Usually won't even proxy the fething things), but I'd guess it would be... what, [10x20+9x(5+5+5)+20]ish = about 355 each, plus add Badrukk to one squad?

So now you're looking at about 1200 points in H/S, and 4x maxed out squads of Boyz will run you another 1000 or so, putting our grand total from the rough figures at around 6750-7000 points for Orks fitting into a single FOC. I'm sure all those big IG platoons can rack up some points, but I have to wonder if anyone else can really rack up this kind of cost for a single standard chart...? 239 models in this list for those of you keeping score at home.

Off the top of my head, with no codex to hand, i'd put an IG platoon, totally maxed out, at something like 1500.

Theres a lot of pointless stuff in there, but also, thats got the "You have HOW MANY men?" factor going on.

(5 infantry squads, command squad, Heavy squads, special squads, conscripts, Chimeras with most of it...)

And thats one FoC slot. I do love guard sometimes.

Grey Knights

I know 60 space marines (170 for 10) 2 mangus claras (250 give or take for 1) which means 6 hounor gaurds (at least 110) 3 squads of 10 termieas with chainfist (1350) 20 razor backs (80 poins for the heavy bolter version) 3 squads of 8 bikes with 1 attack bike, 4 land raider with the hurrcain bolters and multi melats for each. that propaly 5000 at least but a very affective army.

I would outfit my wife's sisters army. She's only got a couple of sisters squads a couple of rhinos a heroine and an inquisitor right now. Compared to my battalion of tanks, speeders, bikes, 30 assault marines, 40 tac marines, 20 terminators ... continues listing into the night... I'd rather get her army up and funtional at more than a 500 pt level than start a new army for myself.

IG
8x command squads, LOTS of guardsman, melta gun bitzes, even more of Guardsmen, 3x new Hellhound kits, 6x Valkyries, 9x Leman Russes and of course, even more Guardsmen.
Fill in the remaining points with a lot of Guardsmen and command squads, and Ratlings, and Storm Troopers.

Do you mean Marneus calgar? if you do then im sorry but you can only have one per army...

and wtf is a termieas? how can you have 4 land raiders with only 3 heavy support slots? for that matter how does 20 razorbacks fit into the FOC?

First, just want to say how good it is of GW to do something like this. I'm usually one of their biggest critics, but they really didn't have to do this. These are big prizes for a free to enter competition, and shows they can be giving.

That said, I have no idea what army I'd get. I have most of the armies I like enough to want 5000 points of. Only exception would be Dark Eldar, but it'd be so much better if the minis were updated.

Im thinking 5 k of black templar, just to be a jerk , assuming i have to put together the models so i wont include many options, again to be a jerk

HQ: Emperors champ w/ uphold the honor - 100 points
Castellan w/ terminator command squad (x5) and LRC - 530 points

HQ total - 630 points

Elites 2x 5 man assault termies (SS & TH) w/ LRC
1x 6 man as above (TH/SS/LRC)

Elite total - 1435, grand total - 2065

Fast - 3x land speeder w/ MM/HF = 225

grand total 2290

Heavy = 3x dakka pred - 375

grand total - 2665

troops - 6 x (7 marines + 1 scout / LRC)

troops = 2322 points

total = 4987

so with 13 points ill give the castellan a pistol, combi-flamer, cc weapon and frag grenades.

5 boxes of tac marines
2 boxes of scouts
3 predators
3 Speeders
5 boxes of terminators
emperors champ and a commer box set

might not play too well..........

BT's have squads that are made up Initiates (Marines) and Neophytes (Scouts).

I would be awfully tempted to go with Sisters. I already have an Apocalypse-sized force, but the idea of running an Apocalypse-sized hoard of Sisters (no vehicles!) is one I have often come up with, but my wallet keeps turning down. My other contender would be Guard, though I would be torn between Vostroyans and Steel Legion --- it has to be great coats!

You can't have more Neophytes than Initiates.

So yeah as they said said above

But as WotR isn't in the list, I'd go for 5000 pts of Guard, with the intent of selling most of the stuff:

3 Sentinels

3 Leman Russ Punishers

3 Basilisks

And Mech Guard Platoons to make up the rest of the points...

I think its probably best to choose a fantasy army if you won. First, the choices scale up based on the points values, which translates to more free minis. Unless they allow you to take a Death Korp of Krieg army guard army, I'd go with fantasy.

At 5000 points you get a ton of space for character minis, even taking some as unit champions instead of heroes, as well as lots of opportunities to build special and rare choice units that would normally bankrupt you if you wanted to buy them at retail prices.

Yeah, but then you'd have to play WFB.

Everything would be bare-bones, to get the most volume of models.
