The ripped off stuff available isn't usually up to much, I took a look at some on ebay and they had been painted or undercoated to disguise the fact they had lost most of the detail in the casting.

But I saw what you did there.

If the forgery stuff was up to much then sure, I'd buy it but not likely given how gak much of it looks on inspection.

I have 20 of the old metal ones for my EC army. When the chaos codex got redone, I seriously considered selling the army.

Now, even if I did sell the army, there is no way I'd sell the damonettes. While I don't dislike the plastic ones, there is just something special about the metal ones (especially now that you can't get them anymore).

What I really should do is strip them down and repaint them. I've gotten better since I last did my horde of lovely ladies.

I'm of to minds regarding the Diaz daemonettes I own 40+ of them. One the poses are static as hell, they might as well be chess pieces, and theyr'e hard to convert irregardless of them being metal. But the new daemonettes are just as good, or rather they can be. Being plastic you can mod them anyway you likeL runnig poses, mounted poses, and so on. Don't like the hair, shave is down and GS somes tentacles and horns. Honestly, all they need is a good pair of tits.

That said if your a "Luna-tic" about avoiding recasts, forget owning them cause e-bay will fetch nothing but expensive re-casts, don't even think about FW stuff. Definitely avoid anything that out of the box and just primed black. Painted minis are far more likely to be legit.

Anyway I can tell you from experince that the Diaz-nettes with their very fine details, don't recast well. Particularly the heads and hands don't fair well, because of the loss of mass, and the thinning of the model; that occurs with all casting.

Now I would never endorse IP theivery, but if your going to do it anywy do it right: silicon RTV, a quality low viscosity resin, and pressure is the way to go.

Truly, its best to embrace the plastic brothers.



PS. Thoughs Gamezone models are worse looking than the plastic nettes!

From what I can tell the collectors section on the GW website is just discontinued models that they still have millions of boxes at HQ.

Chances are the mould will have worn out on the Daemonettes and as they are discontinued they won't bother making a new one, even if they still have the master! Besides I thought the fluff said that under the mind tricks, daemonettes were hemaphrodytic crab-like weirdoes?

I have 3 units of 6 Daemonette Cav, and then 6 units of 6 Daemonettes... and 3 extra... which drives me nuts to no end. Get me another 3 and I can have one unit of 12.

It's not 90%, the number is far lower, just that those of the opinion that it's a most heinous crime are a particularly vocal group on the forums.

Personally I'd not have an issue with buying counterfeit on a model that is no longer in production, it's just that what I've been seeing on ebay is not up to standard. I will not be buying the new daemonettes, I would like to buy the old versions. My purchase does not harm GW. I am just at a loss to understand why they know there is huge demand for these metals and still won't knock a few out. As has already been said, they stopped the mounted daemonettes as well and they don't even have a replacement model.

Is it down to GW seeking to expand it's influence in countries that would view the nudity poorly? The middle east? China?

They may be waiting until they release a new codex for Daemons for mounted ones.

Besides if you wanted pretty Daemonettes, couldn't you kitbash some different heads on, and GS an extra boob?

nope, the Diaz ones have a fluid movement about them, the new ones are very static and distinctly lacking in the sensual dept, I want my eventual corrupted army to be led by the FW KoS and the Diaz models will look alot better next to that one.

You have it so wrong. You have the prefect organisation of 6x6 daemonettes. What you actually need to do is give away three daemonettes.

Trust me on this it works, I can be a little like you in that I like ordered formations, though more to a rounded points limit rather than making old Epic formations out of 40K models. We are hardly alone, there are a large number of whole chapter players. The trick however is to resist threshold jump, got a 6k army adn a few extra give away rather than climb to 7k.
I am fighting a battle on this with At-43 purchases, getting nicely rounded in points fully inclusive armies (with all I need) and the number of platoons deployed will make a realistically sounding company size. All without going extra mad over it and buying to a yet higher threshold, it takes planning and sometimes sacrifice.

I gave away my excess High Elf spearmen, my excess Therians are broken up into necron bitz, so dump the three daemonettes, besides someone else might actually really need them. Imagine having nine or fifteen, you cannot even deploy three troops daemon army at the proper size.

As an aside, if you do have some of the demonette models but not enough for a unit and need to expand:

1. The dark elf wyches meld into the unit well. Replace some ofthe daggers with some claws and voila.

2. Inversely the "scaggyettes" mix in ok as well, especially the big hair ones. They can represent the kind of "seeing them as they truly are" side of it.

Green Git , i would say chances that it is is higher then its not a recaster.

However im not sure if its wise to link the seller as its sort of encouraging people that buys recasts since they now know where to look.

Luna, honestly, please stop. If people want to do something then they will no matter what, but even if you're thinking I shouldn't make it easier for them to. Well by your own admission there's no proof this guy sells recasts at all. In fact he doesn't seem to be selling anything at the moment (at least when I looked earlier). But in all sincerity, please stop, it's getting really old and it's not right to cast a suspicious light on anyone with no honest evidence to back it up.

Meh... those not inclined will not do so (especially since the seller has no current auctions) and those so inclined will find the auctions anyway. We all *know* recasters sell on Ebay. It's mentioned here in this very thread (by you no less).

I don't want this thread turning into yet another moral crusade by certain posters about recasters and how they are all the most evil of the evil...

I just want to know why GW stopped selling a highly lucrative model.

Anyone wants to go over the recaster argument (notice no use of the word debate) then go do it elsewhere.
