You should read the novels, then it makes tons more sense and answers a lot of questions, like 'Why the hell am I a seven-foot-tall killing machine who barely ever talks to humans?' and 'Why are loony religious aliens trying to kill me in particular?'

The novels in chronological order are:
Contact Harvest
The Fall of Reach
The Flood
First Strike
Ghosts of Onyx
The Cole Protocol

Not sure about the last one, as it's about characters who aren't in the games.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Sure it is, it's got Captain Keyes right there. With a brief cameo from his daughter.

See issue is.... I love Sci-Fi, I liked Halo. But not enough to ever read the books, lol. Halo, to me, was just another well done Sci-Fi shooter. Tis all.

I love the Halo franchise.

Right now I'm playing through on Heroic in Halo 3 and will start on Halo Wars right after. Hopefully I'll be done with Halo Wars in time for Halo 3: ODST... and then I can't wait for Halo Kart Racing and Halo Peggle... and Halo Vs. Plants Vs. Zombies...

I like HALO Wars. It kind of puts things into perspective on why things went down the way they went down.

I personally like the Covenant. All these disparate races bonded together. Too bad they're misguided and led by quasi-religious idiots...

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

Wars was indeed rather naff. Wish I had just bought the extra Halo maps rather than getting the ltd version of wars.

Guess I might play it again one day when I get really bored of everything else I own.

Didn't much care for halo wars myself. Cutscenes were pretty spiffy though.

I think also because GoW is not as large online, the people that play are the hard core GoW crowd, which means that if you are not on there all the time practicing your skills, you get blown apart and insulted quite heavily.

Because Halo has a larger player base and one of the best matching systems I have seen online, you tend to get put in with players of the same skill as you.

And while the language can be bad at times, it is usually ok (I play it quite a lot and have only had to mute a handful of people over that time - significantly less than 100, probably less than 50, in all the matches I have ever played). Think I have negatively rated about... 10 people in 3 years for language in Halo3? Though I am getting more anti-language these days for some reason, so I expect that figure to climb.

No, Halo lets you play online with guest accounts, so long as at least one person playing on the console has a gold account.

So say 3 people are playing on the same console, 1 has a gold account ("man"), the other 2 people are logged in as guests. It will look like:

man
man(1)
Man(2)

Finished Halo Wars this evening... I enjoyed it very much... as much as I like Master Chief, it was cool to see other folks get the lime light. I can't wait for ODST... I've preordered my copy

What Bungie does really well is storytelling. Their writing and music scoring are fantastic...although Halo 3 did NOT have enough story. The campaign felt clearly tacked-on and rushed, there were many plot holes...extremely disappointing. The ad campaign promised this huge, epic battle for New Mobasa on the Earth's surface where Master Chief turns the tide and the game NEVER delivered on that promise.

Fool me once...

Halo multiplayer gets a bad rep because Halo gameplay is the slowed cousin of every really good FPS game ever made. It's very simple, which is what FPS gamers don't like. Most of us had been playing FPS games for a long time before Halo:CE made its way onto XBox consoles, so Halo was just another shooter. For console gamers who could never afford a gaming PC but who could afford an XBox (which was, admittedly, a gaming PC stripped of everything not related to gaming and shoved into a unique box) Halo was something entirely new, gameplay-wise.

The story for Halo was amazing, and the music score was fantastic. Halo 2 had more great story, even better music, but the MP is what made it so popular...so when Halo 3 came out, Bungie knew precisely what they were going for. Wrap up the story, provide the MP gaming people were rabid about, done deal.

I got ODST for $40 and once I sell it to GameStop and get $35 back for it I'll have spent $5 for the new campaign, and so far it's excellent. Playing as an ODST is totally different from playing as a Spartan, especially if you man up and start the campaign on Legendary and don't look back. GRUNTS are a legitimate threat to you as an ODST. Grunts. No more running into the fray and just pausing to charge up shields - this time you're flesh and bone. You gotta play tactically and smart. Sometimes stealthily, even.

But it's not the gameplay which is making ODST so good for me - it is, once again, the story and the music score. It's just a shame that Halo 3 wasn't up to par in these arenas. I might still be enthused about the franchise if it had been.

Rumors?

Here's a rumor about Halo: Reach for you.

You'll be playing a split campaign, half on Reach as the Spartans John-117 sent to the surface to secure the generators, and the other half as John-117 and the Spartans he took to secure the Circumference NavCom on the docks.

Halo has a great storyline, which is why I like it.

The Multiplayer is fine, but I rarely even go on my Xbox 360 anymore, as I've secured a stable source of income for my Dark Elf Army

Another thing I like about Halo was the second game's Custom Games.

Though my favorite (And still favorite) Custom Game in ALL of Halo is the original Blood Gulch on Halo 1.

I still have the Halo Trial on my PC JUST for that.

Finished the campaign for ODST last week... enjoyed it very much.

Tried Firefight this past Saturday. It was just me and my brother playing. I had a blast! I look forward to trying it out with more players.
