I see plastic Aspect Warriors as something that would be very unlikely. Ignoring Shining Spears, who's revamp would depend on a new Jetbike and they would be 100% plastic as GW (mercifully) avoids hybrids these days, you've got 6 different types of Aspect Warrior in metal (Hawks, Scorps, Spiders, Reapers, Banshees, Dragons). All of these models are different aesthetically, have vastly different weapons, and even different builds (Hawks and Banshees are thin and lithe, Reapers aren't). You could do one, maybe two as a plastic release, but people aren't going to have all that many of them (as opposed to Dire Avengers, which are Troops and people buy lots of them). So we're looking at very few of these units being made in plastic, and probably priced at Gold Sword levels because people need so few of them.

Unless it's a generic kit that allows you to build (say) Scorps, Banshees and Dragons, but as I said, a few bits here and there won't make up for the fact that these units are quite different from one another.

Plastic Wraithguard could be a possibility, I'll give you that, and it's time the Spiders got some love and a new model.

My guess is never!

Let us take for example the humble Squat, forcibly removed from the 40K universe via ‘Nid consumption. The reasons cited for their removal range from low sales to the hierarchy’s desire to distance 40K from Fantasy. So what do they do when they bring out 3rd Edition. They release a new race Dark Eldar.

‘Oh dear… we’re breaking our own rules here their clearly a Fantasy race in space, as they are an almost direct port of Dark Elves, maybe no one will notice, well just to be sure will put the whole race on one planet so if any one notices or sales go down we can wipe them out with one small incidence rather than make up some BS about a whole expanse of space being wiped out exclusively by the ‘Nids and have to do what we did to the Squats.

So Dark Eldar are getting unpopular, let’s distract people with a new race called the Tau sooner or later Dark Eldar will disappear from peoples mind and we can destroy Commorragh an say to those few people who still want them Just to use them as a ‘Counts as’ Eldar army, we’ll even promise the possibility of a special unit of mercenaries of Dark Eldar like we did for the Remaining Squat Players’.

So they are just awaiting the time, possibly the release of the 6th Edition, when they can slip in a little story about Commorragh blowing up or being eradicated by race X, and hope no one brings it up again.

With the Tau as a new ‘uniquely’ 40K race as they have become popular their empire has grown as sales have grown, however GW did cover their backs again in that the Tau only occupy a small area of space. If sales ever go down for the Tau then the Fluff will indicate that the Imperium grew tired of the Tau’s Presence and declared a Crusade against them and performed Exterminartus on all their Planets.

But if their trying to distance themselves from Fantasy what about Orcs/Orks, Eldar and Chaos I hear you say. Well Orks are selling well and they’ve painted themselves into a corner with them as has always been mentioned there are more Orks in the Galaxy than Humans. So to remove them would be very difficult so their general biology and fluff was re-witten to be Marioesque fungus based organisms (another excuse for the eradication for the Squats was the developers inability to re-hash the Squats fluff). With Chaos and Eldar, well their integral to the whole back story of the 40K Universe.

Cold hard truth is that Warhammer is now a business and they will only invest in something if its going to make cash, this includs the races, which I can’t blame them for it.

So in summary if you want a New Dark Eldar Codex, get more people to buy them and cross your fingers and hope that the developers can make Dark Eldar less like Dark Elves. Otherwise their going the way of the Squats.

I would guess that if they did do any aspect warrioirs they'd end up with a sprue layout similar to space marine scouts. Two basic sprues, with parts to build the 6 man or 7 man units that are seemingly standard for Eldar. The CAD work would probably be the limiting factor, which is why they'd maybe only do one or two of the Aspects at first. Warp spiders need the biggest redo and Swoopinghwks top heavy flight poses make them the biggest candidates. Also, when you consider that Eldar are suppose to be fast I don't think it hurts too much to redo all their fast attacks at once. Wraithguard are another biggy to get redone likely redone in a way similar to Terminators or Tau Stealth Suits.

Sadly I suspect GW will pull special characters out of their a$$ and make any aspects that do get done in plastic available as troops for that character. As silly as that is, doesn't it sound like something GW would do?

I think GW will simply do one or two at first then the others as time and money allow. It all comes down to how much of a big deal GW wants to make of the eldar at the time.

That doesnt make much sense at ALL. Eldar are a direct port from fantasy. Orks.... SERIOUSLY? Orks in 40k are Orcs from fantasy but with guns and a K instead of a C. Literally. That whole distance thing was just one of a bunch of excuses they fired out there to explain why they pulled squats.
Are DE the most popular race out there? No, they really probably are the lowest on the chart, but they also have one of the oldest dexs out there, and ARNT in the Imperium. The reason I say that is the Imperium is the most popular armies in the game. But the DE do have a large following, and I guarantee WHEN they get them updated and such, there WILL be a huge jolt of buyers and new fan boys for them. They are a cool ass army, but they are really old, the minis are outdated and people are getting scared of buying an army that out dated. I dont blame them.
A revamp is all the DE need.

Between the rumors of Dark Eldar being worked on and the continued claims by design studio staff that they are being worked on, I think they're being worked. The real catch is that GW has said that they're giving them the treatment as if they were an all new race. From when GW decided to rework them to now has been about 4 years. A 2010 release doesn't seem that bad... then again the original was out in 1998, 12 years. Reportedly there were two do overs of the new miniatures they're working on, proabably adding a good amount of time.

I think GW realizes that killing DE would be a confidence blow to them. That people would question more of their own armies future viability. They might not be a priority but they're not going to die.

Except that the newest Codex, Space Wolves, mentions Dark Eldar. Look up Lukas the Trickster. The DE aren't dead until GW comes out and says they're dead. On the other hand, they sure aren't getting a new book until GW comes out and says they are either. But you can still buy them and do well with them all the same with their codex. Hell, look how well gardeth did in 'Ard Boyz!

*In a booming voice*
I come from the far-a-way time of 2011! Not only do the Dark Eldar have a codex but they now dominate 40k. Space Marines are mostly forgotten, seen only as toys for the young and weak minded! All games are objective based and end in draws. The new models are spectacular and perhaps too true-to-life. GW found a way to incorparate actually blades into the models. Each month there are dozens of Dark Eldar related modeling deaths, but the models are cool enough that no one cares.

I must now return to my original time....

They were about building large tanks and stuff so they could have worked well, they just decided it seemed like it would work in Epic only.

If they were dumping Dark Eldar they'd make up some bull crap about it, like the webway thing I made up before or probably some Tyranid Hive will manage to eat everything somehow. But, seeing is it's hard for them to forget about the Squats because of any constant reminders they might just forget about the DE and one day decide they never existed. Like the Squats, but with less effort

Your username is suprisingly appropriate

And it's not so much that we took it easy on you, we just took it really hard on the Dark Eldar themselves.

Codexs that people scream at GW to redo: Tau, Dark Eldar, Nids, CSM, (Edit: Necrons! )

Codex that GW redoes: Space Wolves...

I wonder if this will become a pattern.
