I wonder why everyone complains about Squats? The models were crappy and they were basically a midget SM codex with more vehicle options for EPIC.

I'll be making a Dark Eldar army, when i finish my Grey Knights army for tournament play. I'm just going to bit-order DE arms and put them on WHFB Dark Elf bodies because the models are better-looking. So i'm not at all really interested in a new plastic line up. And really, the codex still works fine if we could just get some FAQ's as frequently as needed for ALL of the armies.

I have lived long enough, for I die unconquered.

Squats Ruled in Epic though I never acctually played them. The standing joke in are GW store was any game fighting against Squats your first move on turn one was to get a broom and sween half your army into the dead pile, second turn the rest. This rule was than doubbled if you played Orks! Oh happy days

Right, I second this.

The only hope is that the new Eldar codex (it will come some day)
will contain a section on the dark side.

Probably because the mods decided that it's unfair to suppress any and all DE speculation/discussion. Though there is no news about them, there's no reason people can't discuss such a heavily anticipated release.

Personally I don't care for much else. In the years since I finished my DE collection, GW hasn't gotten any of my money, nor will they until I'm given a reason to give them my money again. New DE would be about the only reason.
GWs treatment of the DE was atrocious from the very beginning. They were never supported by the company. They debuted as a losing army. Their codex says pretty much nothing about them. Even in it's day, it was remarkably bland. It had a rushed, "we don't care about this army" feeling to it. The only attention their codex got was a compilation of errata that GW released because the army was so underpowered. Yet to this day we have no shortage of people doing their best to stubbornly squeeze as much fun as they can from the army that GW has been very intently ignoring since the day after their release.

The concept of pirates from a fathomless void, far more sadistic and horrifying than even Chaos and untouchable to any sort of retaliation has definite appeal. GW simply chose not to capitalize on that appeal... Until 5th edition when they finally decided to put an end to all the nagging and give the army the treatment it's deserved for neigh a decade.

With confirmation that the new codex is finished, and the new models mostly (if not completely) finished, I'm hoping to see them next year.

Well, in an effort to add something vaguely news like to the topic.

When I was wandering round the Games Development section today, folk were talking to Phil Kelly.

Where he mentioned, rather enthusiastically that he would really like to be the one to write the Dark Eldar codex. He said he was 'immensely proud' of the Eldar codex and feels that doing the Dark Eldar would really be a great build up and extension of the work he's done on the Eldar.

Now, I must stress that it isn't him saying that he is doing it, but he was incredibly interested about wanting to do it. I guess you could say it's like it coming 'full circle' for him.

So, to think of it another way, you Dark Eldar players have at least one dude in the studio batting for you.

I should do this....or order Dire Avenger heads and such then paint them black.

First of all, I love your avatar. Makes me laugh every time as I remember how you earned it.
Second, I scrye the interweb on frequent occasion, keeping vigilant watch for DE news. I caught wind from somebody on Librarium-online who spoke with Phil Kelly at the last GD, saying that the new DE codex was done and has a lot more fluff which details their religion and culture.
Now maybe it needs touching up, maybe they're just waiting on models, I don't know... I never know what the hell GW is waiting for.
DE are rumored to be the next xeno race to come after Nids, since the Necron project was put into motion relatively recently (compared to the 4 years that DE have been under the knife) and there's been no word whatsoever on Tau. But I'm pretty sure that if GW can find an excuse, they will push DE back again. They seem to lack the balls to just get them finished and released...

Jervis said at some point today that the Dark Eldar have been in development for the last 4 years. I don't think he said anything else on the topic.

You are slightly misinformed and your assertions are all based on a false premise. If Phil Kelly said to another poster (Compel) at GDUK 2009 that he would love to write the DE codex, then how could it have already been done and written by him?

EDIT:

BTW, the joke is on you if you think I "earned" my avatar. Just a good old ribbing of a certain DE lovin' MOD. I just wish I would have thought of making it my avatar before he did it for me, because it's too obvious of a joke! Hilarity!

But he didn't say that to the poster. The poster stumbled into a conversation that Phil was having with other people. For all we know Phil was reminiscing about that time 4 years ago when he began work on the new DE. We've heard from too many people over the past year testifying that, from Phil's own mouth, the codex is being done, to suddenly believe that he hasn't even been put on the job yet? Then what is all this new DE art work based on? I call shenanigans on Phil currently being in the process of begging for the job... But maybe I'm just self-deluded for wanting DE next year.
